Chapter 245: Aren’t You Feeling Sad? [Bonus Chapter]

Alwin teleported Ferdinand to where Arabella was the instant Andrew was gone. And she was wrapped in a tight hug by her husband.

"You did well waiting till we were done talking," Arabella gave her husband a peck first as a reward. He was wide-eyed and delighted.

She embraced him too and rubbed his back. He did well behaving this whole time even when he was aching to show up and end their conversation.

[This feels so good. I feel like she’s trying to pamper me.] Ferdinand enjoyed it and reveled in the feeling of being rewarded like this.

[She truly said goodbye to her former lover just like that. Why? She held onto her feelings for him for so long in her past life. Is she already in love with His Majesty now?] Alwin wondered and Arabella hoped he would begin thinking this way from now on.

She does like Ferdinand now and she’s planning on being his wife for as long as he wanted her.

[Is it because His Majesty changed? His Majesty could speak of loving her so openly now. He never did before even when he longed for her so much. Is that why?] Alwin watched the two of them with a curious gaze.

Alwin used to be instantly irritated by these displays but he seems to be calm this time.

[She even congratulated her former lover with a bright smile when she learned his wife was pregnant. And she said she might have His Majesty’s baby soon too. She’s willing to have His Majesty’s child of her own volition now? Or, is she already seeing signs of pregnancy?!]

Alwin’s thoughts became way too advanced. He concluded Arabella may indeed be pregnant which was why she was fine with saying her goodbyes to Andrew. Because it was too late to get out of her marriage with Ferdinand now.

[Then, she should inform His Majesty as soon as possible. I have to make sure the mana is alright. In the past, we only learned the baby’s mana was too strong for her body when she passed out. If she doesn’t tell His Majesty soon, I have to find a reason to examine her so I can cast the spells to protect her fragile body from the young master’s powers.]

’Eh? Something like that happened?’ Arabella did recall passing out due to her pregnancy in the past life. Who would have thought they had to cast protection spells on her then? No wonder Alwin wanted to examine her the last time there were rumors she was pregnant.

Arabella noted to make sure she informs Ferdinand soonest once they get to that point. There were still several months before that.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand was. . .

"I’m so envious. You haven’t met for months but the way you conversed showed how much you knew and trusted each other. Are you really saying goodbye just like this? I didn’t know you were also good friends. You had to part with your friend and lover because of me," Ferdinand was feeling bad yet jealous at the same time.

"Did we? I think we simply wished for each other to be happy so we won’t be bound and bothered by our past anymore."

[Which was why I’m envious. They cared so much for each other, enough to set each other free so they could find happiness even if not with each other. It was touching to see but it also made me feel this weird stuffy feeling in my chest.]

"Ferdinand, you don’t have to worry too much about anything. You and I are already much closer than I ever was with him. And we are husband and wife so we have the time to get to know each other more each day, don’t we?"

[Right, I am her husband. We will eventually get to know each other as time goes by. I was in too much of a hurry. She allowed me to listen in so I won’t have to worry but I keep on overthinking things.]

"Or should I give your reward now so we could get to know each other even more?" Arabella teased and her husband’s ears turned red.

[It’s not yet night. But I’d still love to get intimate with her right now. No, she clearly said it was for nighttime. Is she changing my reward to something else?!]

"I’ll have it tonight. You promised it was for tonight," Ferdinand reminded her it was a promise so she was could not change it anymore in case she was thinking of changing it. He preferred a naughty reward.

Arabella giggled. The expression on his face just now looked so cute. Why is her husband becoming more adorable each day?

[I want to kiss her! No, wait. What if she’s laughing and smiling now but is hiding her pain yet again?]

Because of witnessing her cry so much when she met with her parents, he wanted to ensure she was not pretending to be alright.

"Aren’t you feeling sad?" Ferdinand cupped Arabella’s face and looked deep into her eyes.

[She seems fine. Her eyes look bright too.] Ferdinand was surprised not to find any hint of sadness in her eyes.

"No. Why would I feel sad? I ended everything with him clearly like this so I can focus on you," Arabella said; and her husband’s ears turned red. His eyes brightened.

[For me?! That makes me happy. But...]

"But he was also your friend. Are you really alright with not speaking or meeting with him again?" Ferdinand thought she might regret it in the end and it would be his fault.

"It’s alright. I had no plans of ever speaking with him again after we got married. But since I encountered him here in Medeus, I thought ending my past with him clearly and on a good note would be better so I would have no regrets. It was why I spoke with him today. I don’t need to speak with him again anymore. This was for the best both for him and me. His wife won’t be jealous of me, and you won’t have to keep being jealous of him again."

She knew meeting with Andrew again after this would only make things complicated so she’d better not. Moreover, the truth was she had long forgotten what it was like to be friends with him. It had been more than two decades for her.
