Chapter 236: Just Genuine Concern
Chapter 236: Just Genuine Concern
Andrew was a good man. He had a good conscience and was truly kind. Even now, his thoughts for Arabella were just genuine concern.
She didn’t understand when she was younger, but Arabella understood when she grew older that Andrew’s wedding was made in a rush by his parents to protect him and Lahar from the possible wrath of Ferdinand and the Valeria Empire.
Yet, Andrew had no ill-will towards her at all nor to her parents for choosing Ferdinand instead of him. He also understood that Arabella and her parents had no choice when such a powerful man suddenly proposed to her.
But it was different when it comes to Ferdinand.
Everything Andrew heard about Ferdinand was negative. It was why Andrew was worried. He was wondering if Arabella had moved on from him and if she was able to accept Ferdinand. He wondered if she was even treated like a real wife and not a prisoner in Valeria.
Andrew wanted to verify for himself that Arabella was alright. His conscience could not bear to live his life in happiness with his wife without thinking about Arabella’s wellbeing. They were once lovers after all. They cared about each other. And Andrew still cared enough since he was simply a kindhearted person.
It was indeed no wonder why Arabella loved him in the past. With how kind and gentle he was, one would feel assured to be treated well even in the future.
It was two decades ago for her, but Arabella was once among those young ladies who wanted a kind, pretty, and dashing prince like Andrew. Thus, Andrew was once perfectly her type. She wanted to marry him in the past.
But after her past life, all that she wanted now was the chance for Fermin to be born again.
Moreover, her husband doesn’t lose to Andrew at all. They were simply just different kinds of people. Everyone was born different so that couldn’t be helped.
It was true that Andrew was gentle, kind, and sweet, but her husband doesn’t necessarily need to be all of those.
Though in fact, Ferdinand had actually been all those to her in this life.
Ferdinand had been treating her well. And though he was making mistakes here and there, he was doing his best to improve and was trying to make her happy in his own way.
Moreover, Arabella didn’t need Ferdinand to be kind and sweet to her and everyone else just like Andrew does. All she needed was for Ferdinand to be good to her and to their future children.
It was true that Andrew speaks with a lot of compliments since he appreciates every little thing and it was his nature to speak nicely to everyone, but Ferdinand didn’t need to be like that at all. He simply needed to be polite enough and have manners, and Ferdinand did have both.
She eyed Andrew. He didn’t seem to have any ulterior motives for wanting to speak with her.
"Sure, I guess we do have things we have to talk about," Arabella agreed since she also wanted to clarify that things between them have truly ended and she was genuinely giving her blessing to Andrew and his wife.
"This place doesn’t seem appropriate. Shall we go somewhere else?" Andrew offered his arm to escort her since he also noticed other people could see them here and might give meaning when they see them together.
And there was one indeed who already gave so much meaning it.
As she was about to loop her hand on Andrews’s arm, Arabella gasped when Ferdinand suddenly appeared with Alwin. Ferdinand held her wrist, preventing her intended action.
"NO. You’re not going anywhere with this man. What do you have to speak about?"
Andrew frowned at the sight before him.
[Does he always do this? He appeared out of nowhere and didn’t even ask what she wanted to do. Arabella clearly agreed to speak with me. Does he always decide things for her like this? Why is he holding her wrist so tightly? What if it’s hurting her? How can he be like this to his wife? I would never do this to Arabella if it was me. She’s very gentle and sensitive. That kind of grip would leave a mark.]
Andrew was genuinely concerned.
And it was true that her husband’s grip hurt. Ferdinand was indeed quite problematic.
’Geez. Here I was thinking he had manners and etiquette and yet he pops out of nowhere and do this.’
She clearly told her husband to watch his words and actions but was probably triggered at the sight of her with Andrew. He must have seen them from afar.
’They teleported even though we shouldn’t be revealing Alwin’s presence?’
Alwin was disguised as a knight but knights were not usually able to use teleportation. It was high-level magic.
Andrew wasn’t an idiot so he already figured the knight must be the magician that was rumored to be always by Ferdinand’s side.
"Let’s go back together," Ferdinand invited Arabella. His meeting with the Kings was also over.
But she had to tell Andrew to keep it a secret that he witnessed Ferdinand teleport with someone. The sooner she clarified things that their past relationship was over, the better as well so there won’t be any misunderstanding about it on both side. And she wouldn’t need to speak with him in the future again.
"Dear, I just have to speak with Prince Andrew for a bit. Can you return first, I will explain to you later," Arabella said and Ferdinand was wide-eyed.
[She’s rejecting me in front of her former lover?! She’s choosing him over me?!]
’That’s not what I meant,’ she internally facepalmed.
’I guess, I have to return with him first and explain,’ Arabella realized that her husband was in a panic mode. His face and aura turned dark as he glared at Andrew. He didn’t want her to be with Andrew that much.
"Prince Andrew, my apologies. It seems we have to postpone our talk to later. I will send a letter later so we can schedule when’s a convenient time."
Arabella decided to choose her husband first. He might go ballistic with how things are going. His eyes had changed and it was clearly dangerous.
"Alright then. I shall await your letter, Your Majesty," Andrew easily agreed.
"Later? No. You don’t have anything to speak about with this man. Don’t meet him later," Ferdinand cut in.
