Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 234: Beginning of Tea Parties

Chapter 234: Beginning of Tea Parties

Arabella was exhausted from checking all the gifts that night so she fell asleep shortly after she went to her room.

After he tucked her in, Ferdinand had gone out with Alwin again to scout around Medeus.

When Arabella woke up in the morning, she thought she would find Ferdinand beside her again as she usually had the previous days. But he wasn’t there.

Who would have thought that just sleeping together in the same bed for a few days and waking up with him beside her, would make her room feel so empty and spacious because he wasn’t around?

She touched the space beside her on the bed. It was cold. But when she checked more closely, there were folds and creases and the pillow was rearranged.

’Oh, so he was here. He must have woken up early,’ a slight smile crossed her lips. Ferdinand came to her room.

Right. He was the one who insisted they would sleep in the same room even though their things were placed in different rooms.

Ferdinand said it was so they could get to know each but they were already beginning to get busy.

Arabella had morning preparations as usual and asked Rendell where Ferdinand was upon getting out of her room.

Rendell led her to one of the rooms and Arabella saw Ferdinand busy with work. She surmised it was from the Imperial Palace. It must have been sent by Raymond through one of the magicians.

’Did he even have enough sleep or he didn’t sleep again?’

Though he went to her room, he may have just laid down for a bit and left to work again.

’It’s mealtime.’

They had been eating their meals together the past few days so Arabella was thinking of having breakfast with her husband but Ferdinand was so focused that she decided not to disturb him. It might be something urgent.

They used to eat their meals separately so it should be alright if she ate first. She needed to replenish her energy since there were a lot of things she had to do.

However, when the meals were served when she was in the dining hall, she was surprised when they served meals for two and prepared a plate on Ferdinand’s usual seat when they eat together.

"I think His Majesty is busy. He might eat later," Arabella said but before they could even reply her husband arrived.

"I told them to inform me when you are ready for breakfast. I don’t want to miss these chances to be with you for anything else," Ferdinand kissed the back of her hand.

Arabella’s maids and his butlers ended up blushing at such words from their Emperor. They were still not used to it.

She couldn’t complain about these displays of affection anymore after she went and bawled like a baby in front of others yesterday.

They had breakfast together and talked about the matters regarding Dimo. They had decided to meet with Duke Olivier in secret tonight since the Duke’s schedule to be with the princess he was guarding was during mornings.

It was better to get it over and done with before all the serious events begin since they might not have the chance to do so later.

Dimo had also kept asking about his father and when he would be able to meet him.

Riley said Dimo did enjoy the magic lessons in the Magic Tower. But he was in a new place so he was getting worried and restless.

. . .

Arabella was invited for tea with the Queens of other nations so she had to attend. When she was a princess, she used to be invited to tea parties with the young ladies. But that was no longer the case.

She was first invited to have tea with the Queens of other nations since she was already an Empress.

Ferdinand was also invited to meet with the other rulers. He wanted to decline but Arabella reminded him that Raymond told him to attend those since he might get valuable information. Thus, her husband decided to attend in the end.

Arabella brought Valerian cookies and pastry prepared by the chefs as she had planned in advance.

The Queens were delighted to be able to get a taste of it since it was rare for the Valerian people to stay outside the Empire. There were no products like these sold in other kingdoms.

It was a treat to be able to get it for free like this and made by the best chefs in Valeria as well. They loved how the pastries tasted and had a lot of praise for it so Arabella noted to inform the chefs. They would surely be delighted.

Arabella learned from their thoughts that the queens who were present during Valeria’s arrival the other day were so surprised that Ferdinand was actually good-looking. Everyone thought he was hideous due to all the rumors about him.

The Former Empress and Emperor never attended the assemblies in Medeus and always sent representatives when dealing with other countries so their appearance was not that known.

Ferdinand did as well. There were portraits of Ferdinand so the Queens had been able to see at least one portrait before but they didn’t believe it was him.

’No wonder no kingdoms in Eliora were trying to send their daughters as Ferdinand’s wife even though he is such a powerful person.’

Aside from his dark reputation, they thought another person was made to model or the painter did his best to make it look good so as not to lose his life because Ferdinand was too terrifying.

Or, that the Empire didn’t want to be embarrassed so they made it look as if their Emperor was the epitome of everything even if he was the complete opposite.

Thus, they were so surprised that the portraits were accurate and that Ferdinand looked even better in person.

Their thoughts were so funny but Arabella couldn’t even laugh since she also had the same thoughts in her previous life.

Even when her parents showed Ferdinand’s portrait to her, she didn’t believe it was him since it had been a topic among the young ladies that they should not be misled since his portrait was faked.
