Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 221: Will You Still Accept Me?

Chapter 221: Will You Still Accept Me?

Some ended their marriage and separated peacefully. However, there were also others who even tried to eliminate their own husband. And there were those who, just like Alyra, chose death despite having to leave their children behind.

It was as if the dragons were being told they should not meddle with humans anymore.

However, an oracle still came and Maverick braved what happened to the ones before him.

Maverick was brought to Estrella in the guise of being Alyra and Terrence’s son which had been hidden from everyone for his safety.

After several years of ruling as the Emperor, Maverick fell in love with Tricia and she accepted him fully. Their relationship gave hope that other dragons could still mate with humans.

Still, they were wary. Thus, when Ferdinand was brought to Valeria, he was only introduced to proud Valerians who worshipped the God of Dragons. But Ferdinand did not find his mate among them.

Meanwhile, another oracle arrived while Ferdinand was still Emperor and had no mate. It never happened before but they soon realized why.

It was for Raymond.

Raymond was already in Valeria as Ferdinand’s Prime Minister so there were no problems with the both of them in Valeria.

Raymond soon fell in love with Clarisse and they set another example that the barriers between humans and dragons could be melted with love.

Everyone was apparently so proud of Raymond since he had two children consecutively, and now, there would be a third soon. It apparently usually took longer to have a second child or the chance do not come at all due to the marriage ending.

Thus, the dragons in Estrella were eager to be able to meet Raymart and Alice once they could turn into dragons.

Likewise, they were also looking forward to how Ferdinand’s marriage would turn out.

’Does this mean Ferdinand’s fellow dragons and possibly other long-lived races knew what I had been up to in the past life?!’ Arabella was horrified. She hoped her theory had no truth at all.

At first, they apparently thought another dragon having given an oracle meant Ferdinand may return to Valeria, and finding a mate for him had failed.

Ferdinand thought so as well and was glad he would be relieved of his tiresome routine duties as an Emperor and could finally go back to Estrella and hibernate. He just had to wait for the go signal to return.

However, as they were waiting for further guidance from the gods, Ferdinand met Arabella and married her.

. . .

It was then Ferdinand’s turn to ask a question. And his question was something he had to ask because of a concern that had been bothering him.

"You don’t seem repulsed by the idea of intermarriage between the races like Esmeralda to humans. Or are you against it which was why you had Alwin’s engagement with Blanca delayed when we were in Safiro?" Ferdinand eyed her so seriously.

It was clear he was probing her. Her answer would contribute to whether he decides to tell her the truth about himself or not.

"I am not against it as long as both sides agree on it. If Alwin was willing to marry Blanca, then I don’t mind them getting engaged and getting married. Esmeralda seemed to love her husband and their descendants so much too. I don’t see anything wrong with that. If their love was this strong, there’s nothing repulsive about it at all," Arabella replied and Ferdinand gulped.

His eyes shined with hope but he looked more nervous all of a sudden.

[I... I want to ask her...]

"Then, hypothetically speaking, what if I am truly a dragon, will you still accept me?" Ferdinand asked and he turned so pale as she eyed him.

[I just went and asked!]

"What do you mean? Aren’t you already one?" Arabella tilted her head and her husband flinched.

[S-she already knows?!!]

"I mean, weren’t you a descendant of one? Then that means you are a dragon too right? You have dragon blood flowing in your veins," Arabella added.

She was also becoming nervous by the second.

Would he tell her the truth now if she continued to probe and push?

[Oh, so that was what she meant. Right, she thinks I am Maverick and Tricia’s son.]

"But hypothetically speaking, what if I am not just a descendant but a pureblooded dragon instead?" Ferdinand continued to ask despite looking green ad he braced himself for her reply.

"Does it make a difference? Whether you are a descendant or a pureblooded one, you’re still a dragon all the same, right?"

She wanted to say she didn’t mind either way. Whether he was just a descendant mixed with humans or a pureblood.

[It’s just the same for her?]

"Y-yes. But pureblooded dragons have no human blood in them. Hypothetically speaking, would you still accept someone who isn’t in the least bit of human progeny?"

He kept emphasizing the word, hypothetical.

"Does Blanca have human ancestry?" Arabella replied with a question.

"N-no. She’s a pureblooded pegasus."

"I accepted her as my handmaid, right?" Arabella smiled and Ferdinand was wide-eyed.

[Is she saying that it’s fine? She would accept me too?] He was at a loss for words.

"Does your being a pureblooded dragon make you a different Ferdinand from the one I know right now? Does being a pureblood mean how you feel for me would be different from what you feel now? I mean, would it mean how you treat me would be different?"

"No, not at all. I love you all the same. I will cherish you all the same," Ferdinand held both of her hands and placed them on his chest. His heart was beating so loudly.

"Then you have your answer," Arabella smiled and her husband was wide-eyed.

"You mean it?"

"Yes, it’s alright. I will accept you as long as you have no ill will toward me and the people I cherish. And as long as how you feel for me and how you treat me doesn’t change from good to bad."
