Chapter 217: Once We Return Home

Since Ferdinand had been so honest, Arabella responded in turn.

"Thank you for reflecting on your past actions. I was indeed hurt very much then as I painfully parted with the man I once loved. I had to marry you all of a sudden when from what I know, I had never met you before. But all of it is in the past now. I have moved on from my past lover so I have forgiven you as well. I hope we can make this marriage work well instead. I look forward to our future together," she bent down and kissed her husband’s forehead.

Arabella accepted his apology for the past her, who was hurt so deeply by Ferdinand’s actions.

It took a whole lifetime and now, it is in their second life, that she got to hear these words from him.

This apology meant so much to Arabella.

Her soul could finally truly let go of the ill feelings she once had; caused by how they got married including, the pain it once brought about.

Ferdinand sighed so deeply and thanked Arabella for forgiving him.

Now, it was her turn.

She also had a lot to ask forgiveness for. And most of it, she could not divulge to him yet.

"I am deeply sorry for everything I did and said in the past too. Back then, I was still hurting and angry about everything so I was also just thinking about myself. But now that I had reflected on my actions, I realized I must have hurt you a lot too," Arabella also apologized.

Trying to convince Alwin and Raymond that divorce was best for her and her husband had been so much of shock to Ferdinand that it made him reflect. It did turn out for the better though, it must have truly hurt.

She wanted to apologize for all her actions in her past life too. But an apology for that would probably be for another time... When the time comes that she could tell him about it...

"There was nothing to apologize for. You wouldn’t have felt that way if not because of me ruining the life you were enjoying," Ferdinand didn’t want her to apologize since he believed it was all his fault.

Still, she apologized until he accepted.

Clarifying all these things and speaking out honestly like this made them both feel so much lighter after saying things they had been holding back.

Ferdinand also clarified that he was so rigid during their wedding because he was trying to hold back.

He was apparently distracting himself with all sorts of thoughts so he won’t grab her and kiss her in front of everyone before the ceremony was even over.

The ceremony itself was indeed not that interesting to him, but he had been looking forward to their wedding.

"You were so beautiful in your wedding dress. I had to stop myself from kissing you every time I took a glance," Ferdinand admitted and Arabella giggled.

Moreover, Arabella learned from his thoughts that Ferdinand had apparently been worried since she might meet Andrew when they arrive in Medeus.

Since the opportunity presented itself, he wanted to clarify things before that so Arabella’s feelings would not be shaken once she sees her former lover again.

Ferdinand didn’t want her feelings for Andrew to be rekindled because he hadn’t been treating her well, or because he hadn’t been able to reach out to her and be honest.

He wanted her to know he had realized his mistakes and would do his best to treat her as best he could now. And that though he had failed to think about her before, he was very much willing to change so he could make her happy this time.

Arabella’s efforts to try and push Ferdinand to be honest with her worked well.

Ferdinand also apologized for how he behaved on their wedding night and the nights after that.

Arabella thanked him for doing his best to hold back and for patiently waiting for her.

Since it was her turn to ask questions, Arabella then asked if he had experience with women just to verify her suspicions. And she was right.

Ferdinand’s answer was quick. He indeed didn’t have experience since he was never interested in women before.

"It’s your turn," she beamed and she was surprised by his next question.

"You said you are not ready to consummate yet. I’m not rushing you or anything. I just want to know a timeframe so I could prepare myself. So, when do you think you would be ready? Y-you can take as much time as you want. I was just -"

Arabella covered his mouth since he was panicking she would be disappointed in him after he asked and was trying to explain his motive repeatedly.

"Once we return home to the Imperial Palace after the Assembly in Medeus," Arabella whispered in his ear and her husband turned red.

She was actually fine now even if they consummated tonight since she had the tea ready.

But she knew with Ferdinand’s stamina that it might not be a good idea since they would be busy in Medeus.

With how much he had been holding back, Arabella simply knew from experience he would want to do it every night.

Knowing what it would do to her body, it was best to wait until they were back home.

"So soon?" Ferdinand inquired again to verify if he heard it right.

"Oh, would you like to delay it?" Arabella tilted her head.

"No. After the Assembly is perfect," Ferdinand quickly replied so she won’t change her mind.

She kissed him on the cheek and Ferdinand embraced her tight.

When the night came, they got intimate once again and enjoyed it so much more than they ever did before.

Every kiss, every caress, and every moan somehow felt so much more than it ever was.

Who would have thought a bit of honesty would make things feel so different? So magical?

That night, they both slept soundly after past midnight.
