Chapter 129: You Deserve It
Chapter 129: You Deserve It
Alwin teleported them to the top of Mt. Esme first to give everyone a view of the residential area.
Arabella almost made a face when she realized Ferdinand’s knights had surrounded the residential area. They were at a reasonable distance but it must have felt different for the Safirans.
And she was right.
Even the Safirans with them were terrified at the sight. They had never encountered Ferdinand’s knights for years.
Cordelia had few knights and their armor and weapons were not as grand as the knights from the capital.
Even Bernardo and his fellow mercenaries hadn’t encountered a single knight from Riva for years as well.
Arabella learned from their thoughts that it was their first time seeing Riva knights fully clad in the most expensive and durable armor and weapons since the war with Arno years ago.
It was no wonder they were fearful of seeing Ferdinand’s knights again for the first time in so long and were wary of them.
It triggered painful memories of the past which have led to their current situation.
Even Nadia thought that if she hadn’t gone to the capital and had encountered Riva knights before, she would have been terrified of them as well.
If she was among her tribesmen hiding inside their residences as they were surrounded by these many knights, Nadia thought that she would probably think this might be the end for Safiro.
But to Ferdinand and the knights, they were just protecting the people from possible sneak attacks from other possible third-party allies of Count Dempsey and the magician.
However, it triggered fear and doubt in the Safirans instead of reassuring them they would be safe from now on.
Everyone hid inside their houses while peeking at the dilapidated seams of the windows.
Only a few men stayed the outside their residences observing what the knights and magicians from Riva were doing.
They had muscular bodies despite being so thin. Even Arabella could tell they were probably among the best warriors in Safiro before. They were staying on the lookout for their tribesmen.
Arabella glanced at the tables Ferdinand’s magicians were creating out of magic in a wide area they have cleaned up.
It was where the food would be served later once everyone was ready to eat.
On the opposite side, there were house-like structures made out of magic.
Alwin made it for the Safirans who were supposed to bathe and get changed.
Arabella learned from Alwin’s thoughts that the water was warm so everyone’s bodies would not be shocked from suddenly bathing when they haven’t done so for a while.
Their dirty state would only encourage the spread of diseases among them so they had to clean up before eating.
Everyone looked weak, sick, and weary. Thus, Alwin and the magicians would heal them first before they bathed.
And they brought Nadia and everyone else to help them with those, not to come here to feel guilty that they had been living so much better lives.
Yet, the Safirans with them had pained looks on their faces as they once again witnessed the poor state of Safiro.
A lot felt guilty for eating proper meals and living comfortably in Cordelia while the rest of their family members were here suffering.
Arabella frowned at the expression on their faces and the guilty thoughts they were having.
"Stop looking so glum and guilty.
"They allowed you to leave Safiro in high hopes that you would be able to live a better life.
"They didn’t send you away so you would suffer in another territory.
"The best thanks you can give them is showing you made good use of the opportunity and lived a better life as they had wished for you.
"If you return looking so sad and depressed, how would they feel? That their efforts and endurance were for naught?" she scolded them.
Arabella gave them some sort of pep talk since they were all getting depressed. The Safirans gulped and reflected on her words.
[Right. We are here so everyone can finally eat and rest comfortably. His and Her Majesty already had everything planned and prepared to help Safiro. We have to show that we are willing to help ourselves.]
"Everyone, it’s not the time to mope. His and Her Imperial Majesties are even helping us. Safiro won’t suffer like before anymore so let’s do our best to let everyone feel and know it too. The chefs in the Imperial Palace even did their best to prepare food for our tribesmen. Let’s cheer up and help everyone be able to eat first and foremost before everything else."
Nadia was the first to react and encouraged everyone. They finally cheered up.
Bernardo also encouraged the warriors and their determined eyes were back.
Arabella sighed in relief that the guilty looks on their faces were finally gone.
After all, why should someone feel guilty for eating three times a day and being able to have some snacks in between?
It was just the bare minimum. They shouldn’t feel guilty for being able to have proper meals.
"Every single one of you deserves to be able to eat proper meals and live comfortably. You deserve it. And so does your families and everyone else in Safiro. And that’s why we are here, aren’t we?"
Arabella smiled and she wondered why they were so touched. She was just stating a fact.
"We brought you here to help your families and tribesmen finally get out of this situation.
"Your task now is to convince them to cooperate so the magicians can heal them. Then, encourage them to bathe in the area prepared by magicians and get them changed into warm comfortable clothes.
"And finally, you will guide them to the table prepared by the magicians and sit with them to encourage them to eat the food prepared by the palace chefs.
"Don’t you think it would be wonderful to be able to tell stories once your families and friends are no longer hungry or suffering from pain, exhaustion, and all sorts of discomfort?"
"Yes, Your Majesty. Our deepest gratitude for this opportunity."
