Reborn as a Happy Wife in a Rural Family -
Chapter 46 Hot Springs
Chapter 46: Chapter 46 Hot Springs
"Yunjing, did you use to bathe here before?" Gu Qingli suddenly thought of something.
"Yes," Xiao Yunjing replied, looking at her playfully splashing about, and nodded.
Gu Qingli murmured, "Oh."
No wonder, she thought. She’d never seen him bathe at home, yet he never smelled bad. She had been very confused and had wanted to ask several times, but eventually held back.
"I’ll come here too in the future," she declared.
"Alright, we’ll come together." Xiao Yunjing walked over, sat beside her, wrapped his arms around her, and whispered in her ear. His tone was so suggestive that Gu Qingli’s face instantly flushed crimson, all the way to the tips of her ears.
Xiao Yunjing was captivated. My wife looks so beautiful when she’s shy, he thought. He cupped her face and kissed her rosy lips.
"Li’er, when will you cure the poison in my body?" When they were both breathless, Xiao Yunjing released Gu Qingli and looked at her with a woeful expression.
"PFFT!" Gu Qingli covered her mouth. Can you imagine a big, burly man putting on a cute, innocent puppy act in front of you? It’s so out of character!
"What’s the rush?"
My body hasn’t fully matured yet, she thought. Letting him kiss and hug me is already a huge perk for him.
Sigh! Xiao Yunjing dejectedly turned his head away. This feeling of being denied is terrible, an agony that claws at my heart!
"Are you angry?" Gu Qingli stood up, walked around behind him, cupped his crestfallen face, and asked.
"No!" he lied, though his gaze remained fixed on Gu Qingli’s eyes, which shone like stars. To be honest, after spending these past few days together, she fills my eyes and my heart. In the past, I only wanted to compensate her, pamper her, and live a good life with her for the rest of our days. Gradually, my mindset changed; it became different. Seeing her begin to shine brilliantly like a star, my heart couldn’t help but be stirred by her. I want to love her, truly possess her, making us one as husband and wife. But she has always been somewhat aloof, neither particularly warm nor cold. I had previously thought she was punishing me for that incident, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case. It seems Li’er is worried about something. What could she be worried about?
Gu Qingli seemed to understand the meaning in Xiao Yunjing’s eyes. She sighed inwardly. With a flick of her wrist, a pill appeared in her hand.
"Open your mouth."
Xiao Yunjing didn’t doubt her, and though he felt aggrieved, his wife’s words were to be obeyed. With his intelligence, it wasn’t hard to guess what his wife wanted him to do when she asked him to open his mouth. He opened his mouth.
Does Li’er always carry medicine with her?
Gu Qingli put the antidote into Xiao Yunjing’s mouth, then sat back down and silently soaked her feet.
What will happen in the future? she wondered. As for Xiao Yunjing, I’m not repulsed by him; I even like him. Oh well, she sighed internally. Since I’ve ended up in this body, in this kind of society, I suppose I should adapt to its ways in some matters. However, when I think about consummating the marriage, my face still feels a little hot. After all, in my previous life, I was single, never even having a boyfriend. Here, although I have memories of the original host being forced by Xiao Yunjing, those were the original host’s experiences, not mine.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yunjing swallowed the pill. Once it settled in his stomach, he felt a warm current flow toward his lower abdomen. He instinctively circulated it as he usually did with his internal energy, guiding the warmth to *that* place.
Sure enough, after the time it took for an incense stick to burn, he felt a reaction.
He opened his eyes and turned Gu Qingli to face him directly. He looked at her affectionately and softly called out, "Li’er."
Gu Qingli’s face turned red again, and she looked away.
Xiao Yunjing’s gaze is so intense it feels like it could scorch me, she thought.
Seeing her shy look, he mustered his courage, held her face, and kissed her.
Gu Qingli let him kiss her. This is something we have to go through sooner or later, she thought. She no longer held back, her hands involuntarily wrapping around his waist.
However, her heart still couldn’t help but race.
Seeing that she didn’t reject him, Xiao Yunjing was overjoyed. Realizing no one else would come here, he carried her into the hot spring pool...
Before long, even the birds flitting about nearby seemed to shyly retreat to their nests.
An hour later, Xiao Yunjing had dressed them both and used his internal energy to dry their clothes. He then embraced Gu Qingli, who kept her eyes tightly shut the entire time, and soared up the cliff, vanishing in an instant into the vast, snow-covered expanse.
When they returned home, Xiao Yunjing tucked Gu Qingli into bed and instructed Wuqing not to let anyone disturb her.
Wuqing assumed Gu Qingli was asleep, nodded, and left.
Gu Qingli wasn’t asleep; she was simply too mortified.
At lunchtime, Ms. Jiang didn’t see Gu Qingli. She did, however, notice her son, looking refreshed and cheerful, carrying a tray of food back to their room.
Ms. Jiang glanced suspiciously at her other sons and daughters-in-law at the table. What’s up with Third Son today? Could it be that my third daughter-in-law is pregnant?
At this thought, Ms. Jiang immediately beamed, and the simple meal suddenly tasted like a gourmet feast to her.
Eldest Brother Xiao and Second Brother Xiao, being experienced men, understood at a glance the reason for Third Brother’s demeanor.
But how could they possibly say anything?
In their room, Xiao Yunjing leaned close to Gu Qingli’s ear and whispered, "Li’er, come, it’s time to eat."
My Li’er is too frail, he thought. I didn’t dare use too much force, afraid I might accidentally snap her delicate waist. I must help her get plumper; then we can enjoy passionate nights together.
Gu Qingli opened her eyes and met Xiao Yunjing’s affectionate gaze. Her face flushed to the tips of her ears again. She sat up, about to speak, but then realized her throat couldn’t produce any sound.
Seeing this, Xiao Yunjing smiled and quickly brought the food over to feed her.
Gu Qingli shot him a glare, waved his hand away, and took the bowl to eat by herself.
After eating, she still felt too embarrassed to face anyone in her current state, so she simply sat on the bed and read. She made a trip to the latrine midway, and before long, darkness fell.
And so, Gu Qingli’s First Day of the Lunar New Year passed.
By evening, her throat was much better. It was because she had secretly drunk a cup of spiritual spring water in the afternoon.
"Feeling better?" Xiao Yunjing asked, holding her in his arms.
Gu Qingli nodded.
"Li’er," Xiao Yunjing said, "we are husband and wife. I will treat you well from now on."
"Besides me, will you have other women?" Gu Qingli looked up at Xiao Yunjing, her expression serious. In this world, it’s normal for men to have several wives and concubines; even some scholarly Masters who teach and educate people have concubines and the like.
"Is that what you’re worried about, Li’er?" Xiao Yunjing chuckled, tapping her nose.
"Mmm!" she affirmed. She was very concerned about it.
"Our family has a rule: you can have as many children as you like, but there’s no provision for taking secondary wives, concubines, or serving maids with intimate duties. It’s not that such a rule doesn’t exist for others; it’s that it’s forbidden for us. Understand?"
"Understood."
Gu Qingli visibly relaxed. The thought of a house full of women fighting over one man is unbearable! I’d definitely give that man a ’Golden Spear Cannot Rise’ potion to ensure he could never be with a woman again!
Seeing her relax, Xiao Yunjing also breathed a sigh of relief. I’ve certainly gained firsthand experience of my wife’s temper. If I ever dared to take a second woman, I guarantee I’d be living the life of a monk from then on.
