Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Reunion

Gu Qingli wore the down jacket on the outside and draped a large cloak over herself before re-entering the sedan chair. The group set foot on the Icefield, heading towards the Daqian Kingdom.

「On the other side」

After Gu Qingli and her party departed, the four First Elders of the Snow Maiden Clan confiscated the seal from Xue Mei and expelled her family from the courtyard reserved only for the Saintess. They did not abolish the sacred position of Saintess; their beliefs were deeply ingrained and would not be altered by a minor incident. Until a new Saintess was chosen, the four First Elders managed the affairs of the Snow Maiden Clan.

「The snow fell heavily」

Cold winds howled, and the chill was bone-deep. Xiao Yunjing’s group wandered the Icefield like headless flies, completely disoriented.

"Young Master, continuing like this is no solution," Yun No. 8 said to Xiao Yunjing. "How about we split our people here and head in four different directions? Regardless of where we end up, or if we reach an edge, let’s regroup at this spot in ten days." He then prepared to make a mark.

Xiao Yunjing’s mind was a complete mess; he was extremely anxious and utterly devoid of ideas. Hearing Yun No. 8’s suggestion, he felt it was feasible and nodded in agreement.

Ten members of the Secret Sect immediately circulated their internal energy and piled up a tall snowdrift, one that the wind and snow wouldn’t disperse in a short time. Then, in pairs, they rushed off in four directions, leaving two men to protect Xiao Yunjing.

Thus, the group resumed their aimless search.

「Meanwhile, Yun No. 13 and his partner」

They hurried towards the Snow Maiden Clan’s territory. They didn’t search together but moved in parallel, maintaining the same general direction.

Yun No. 13 had no idea how far he’d run when, through the swirling snow, he spotted figures moving ahead. Joy filled his heart, and employing his lightness skill, he swiftly dashed over. He tapped his toes lightly on the snow, leaving almost no trace. Truly, treading on snow without a mark.

Ahead, Yun No. 20, who was leading Gu Qingli’s group, also saw someone approaching at lightning speed through the dense snowfall. He too quickened his pace, darting forward.

"Yun No. 20!"

"Yun No. 13!"

They recognized each other simultaneously.

"This is great! We’ve finally found you! Wait here; I’ll go get the Young Master," Yun No. 13 exclaimed, overjoyed. He hadn’t forgotten that Xiao Yunjing was waiting, so he delivered the message and rushed back.

Yun No. 20, after a moment, also hurried back to inform Gu Qingli.

"Mistress, the Young Master and his party are here!" Yun No. 20 reported as soon as he returned to Gu Qingli.

"Yunjing and his party are here?" Gu Qingli’s heart tightened. When she saw Yun No. 20 rushing off earlier, she had assumed he’d spotted some prey. It turned out Xiao Yunjing had found them. How did this silly fool find me?

Thinking of his frantic search for her, Gu Qingli’s heart warmed, her nose tingled, and tears flowed uncontrollably.

Wuqing and the other attendants were also overjoyed to hear that the Young Master had arrived. Wushuang and Wuxin quickened their pace even more.

「On the other hand, Yun No. 13 rushed back」

He shouted with his internal energy as he ran, "Young Master! Young Master! I’ve found the Mistress!"

Xiao Yunjing, who had been in a daze, heard Yun No. 13’s voice, which sounded as wondrous as a song from the heavens. His spirits instantly lifted, and he used his internal energy to chase after Yun No. 13.

"Young Master! Young Master...!"

"Yun No. 13, are you sure it’s the Mistress?" Xiao Yunjing’s voice choked with emotion.

"Yes, yes! It’s definitely them, HUFF... HUFF... HUFF..." Yun No. 13 panted, the effort clearly showing how fast he had run.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

As soon as Yun No. 13 finished speaking, Xiao Yunjing made a few leaps and disappeared from sight.

Yun No. 13 clicked his tongue, awestruck by the speed. After catching his breath, he went to find the other Secret Sect members.

As Xiao Yunjing drew closer, a group of people came into view, and then he saw the person in the sedan chair.

Gu Qingli had been sitting upright for a while, gazing straight ahead. Suddenly, a familiar figure flashed into her vision.

"Yunjing!" she called his name, her fists clenched. It really was him!

Wushuang and Wuxin also saw the rapidly approaching Xiao Yunjing. They immediately stopped and lowered the sedan chair.

"Miss, it’s the Young Master," Wuqing said, holding Gu Qingli’s hand.

"Mhm, mhm..." Gu Qingli nodded continuously, already choked with sobs.

Xiao Yunjing shot over like an arrow loosed from its bow and swept Gu Qingli into a tight embrace.

"Li’er," Xiao Yunjing choked out, hot tears rolling down his cheeks.

"Yunjing," Gu Qingli hugged him back just as tightly, burying her head in his chest, inhaling his familiar scent. She had missed him so much. During those difficult days, in this alien world, he was the person she missed most. He had become an indispensable part of her life. It was wonderful that he had found her. She had so many things to tell him: how much she missed him, and that she was carrying their babies.

Wuqing, Wushuang, Wuxin, and the fourth attendant, along with Yun No. 20 and Yun No. 18, couldn’t bear to disturb the reunion. They quietly turned and retreated more than ten steps, leaving the couple their space.

After a long moment, Gu Qingli looked up at Xiao Yunjing. He was unshaven and haggard, his face dark and thin. She reached out to touch his cheek.

With a thought from her, they both vanished from the sedan chair.

「In the Space」

Xiao Yunjing brushed the snow off both their clothes, then swept her into his arms. He carried her into the room, laid her gently on the bed, and leaned down to kiss her. Only like this, it seemed, could he truly feel she was by his side, that this was real and not an illusion.

"Yunjing, be gentle," Gu Qingli said, her hands pushing against Xiao Yunjing as he pressed down on her.

"Alright," Xiao Yunjing’s hoarse voice sounded. He then kissed her lightly, his body pressing against hers.

Obviously, he had misunderstood Gu Qingli’s meaning.

"Yunjing! Yunjing, get up quickly! You’re pressing the baby!" Gu Qingli exclaimed, growing anxious with this silly fool. Her hands pushed forcefully against Xiao Yunjing.

"Baby?" Xiao Yunjing shot up as if on a spring, his gaze belatedly falling on Gu Qingli’s noticeably pregnant figure.

"Li’er, you mean...?"

"Mhm! We have our babies in here. Three of them," Gu Qingli said, pointing to her belly and then holding up three fingers.

BUZZ...

Xiao Yunjing’s mind felt like it had exploded; it was buzzing loudly. He opened his mouth, but couldn’t find the words to express his overwhelming emotions.

"Three... three..." This happiness had come too suddenly!

Trembling, he removed Gu Qingli’s outer cloak and robes, revealing her protruding belly.

"Li’er, Li’er... I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault..." Xiao Yunjing gently hugged her, murmuring her name, his voice thick with self-reproach. When she needed him the most, he hadn’t been by her side to protect her.

"No, my husband is the best. You’re the kindest person to me in this whole world," Gu Qingli said, sensing his deep regret and self-blame.

Seeing his face, which had thinned considerably, her heart ached. How could this silly dear blame himself for everything? She couldn’t hold back any longer. She wrapped her arms around Xiao Yunjing’s neck, pressed her cheek against his, and tears streamed down her face.
