Chapter 234: Don’t say goodbye...please

Ruihuang shook his head "You don’t need to repay me. You should think about yourself more.."

Qingran didn’t push it, the cultists were still coming after her so she knew they couldn’t stay here.

They would have to keep moving until they’ve gotten a solid plan to fight back.

"How about dinner? You need to get your strength back. I’ll whip up something, I can use the fancy stuff in your pantry.."

-_-

"Hey we need those stuff.."

Lingquan ignored her and proceeded to think of what they could eat, he was a system so he didn’t need food but Qingran definitely needed to regain her energy.

"Dont worry it won’t finish now.."

She gave him a hard glance before turning away.

*******************************

"I have no interest in working along you.. Wenxiu. I’m just passing by here.."

Feng Yizhou removed the gloves and washed his hands. She had happily turned him into a butcher and that wasn’t his goal here.

Wenxiu crossed her hands. "You have to help out if you want to stay here. They’re starting to say I’m unfair.."

-_-

Feng Yizhou eyes darkened and he nodded.

"Alright then. I’ll leave.."

-_-

Wenxiu blinked, surprised by Feng Yizhou answer.

"What do you mean leave? Do you know how the living conditions outside my safety area is??"

Feng Yizhou shook his head, he didn’t care but it wasn’t stopping him.

"Why? Why would you do that.."

"I never plan on staying, just dropping off the extra load.."

Wenxiu snorted loudly, it was always something with him.

"Very well. Do what you want, if it’s to get eaten outside....then suit yourself.."

She gave him a dark glare before walking away, it was her fault for liking a nonchalant man.

Feng Yizhou has very different reasons for leaving, so he could get closer to Qingran and getting to the second zone.

Taking Sun Zi Mo and Haoyu along was the only baggage was he was going to take.

{{Sorry to say but your dear Qingran is going to die}}

-_-

Feng Yizhou slowed down, Caocao wasn’t the one to joke and not especially with Qingran.

{{It is at it seems. She is dying and will die in under 72 hours.}}

Feng Yizhou paused "What happened? What happened to Qingran, how’s she dying..Caocao what’s happening to her??"

{{She’s contact something, Lingquan can’t heal her fully and well she’s dying, slowly but she’s dying..}}

Feng Yizhou heart shuddered "Why are you, where is she? Where’s my Qingran. Tell me where she is right now, I want to see her.."

-_-

{{I don’t know where she is...}}

-_-

"What the fuck, you don’t know where she is? So what do you expect me to do now? Give you a fucking thank you and say "The woman I love is dying and I don’t know where she is.."

is that what you fucking what to hear? Tell me where she is right now.."

Caocao sighed and sighed {{Well I can’t say where she is but I can trace her energy and create a possible portal in that location. It’s a half way one, so only half your body will be allowed in.."

Feng Yizhou didn’t hesitate.

"Do it."

{{Are you sure?}} Caocao warned. {{This is not a clean jump. Only your upper half will go. Your real body will remain here...vulnerable.}}

"I said do it.." he snapped. "Right now."

The space around him cracked.

The system energy flared, unfamiliar, erratic. Caocao’s abilities had never been this unstable, but Feng Yizhou’s rage and desperation was feeding it, bending the algorithm to his will.

His vision blurred.

There was light, too bright and then a wrenching pain in his chest as if part of his soul had been torn forward through a slit in the world.

And then he saw her.

Qingran was sitting on the edge of a low bed, a bandage unraveling from her shoulder, black veins crawling across her pale skin like ink spilled from her heart.

Her head snapped up.

"...Yizhou?"

He was halfway through a rift in the air, his upper body stretching into her space like a ghost, arms trembling from the effort it took to stabilize himself.

"Qingran.."

She scrambled to her feet, her heart slamming against her ribs. "What are you doing?! Are you mad?!.."

I didn’t care," he ground out. "I don’t care. I had to see you."

Lingquan froze by the far wall, eyes flicking up from the cooking pot. "That’s not supposed to be possible but then again Caocao is a high end system..."

Ruihuang was halfway across the room before stopping himself, sensing the sheer heat in the air around Qingran’s aura spike.

She stood there, stunned. Her lips parted, no words forming.

Then Yizhou’s eyes landed on her shoulder.

On the rot, his face paled. It was even more scarier in person.

"...No, No, no—what the hell is that?"

"Something I picked up..." she tried to say flippantly.

"Don’t you joke with me now."

"I’m not joking." Her voice dropped, raw. "I’m dying, Yizhou."

The words knocked the breath out of him.

He shook his head. "There has to be a cure."

"There isn’t. Well we’re still looking for one.."

"Lingquan..."

"I already used my second chance, he can’t give me 100% of his healing abilities..." she said quietly. "There’s no phoenix cycle left. Just time...."

Yizhou stared at her. "Then I’ll find one. I’ll rip apart the world if I have to. I’ll find a way to reset the cycle..."

"You can’t."

"Don’t say that! Please I beg you, don’t say that Qingran" he roared.

The portal flickered.

He grimaced, fighting to stay inside.

"I can’t lose you, Qingran. Not after everything. You promised me, we made a promise!"

"I remember."

"So why are you giving up?!"

"I’m not." She stepped closer. "But I’m not going to pretend everything’s fine either. I’m not going to lie to you."

Her hand touched his cheek, his touch was warm and fleeting. "I’m sorry."

He grabbed her hand. "Don’t say goodbye..please."
