Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 87: Trouble
Chapter 87: Trouble
This scene frightened everyone in the Smith family. Maria screamed and fainted, while Sebastian crawled over and clung to Alex’s thigh, saying, "Mr. Alex, there must be some misunderstanding. Please let go! Anna can’t take it anymore!"
"Misunderstanding? I spare your Smith family’s lives just because of your surname," Alex snorted, his grip on her neck tightening. "But what did she do? Conspire with Jack to harm my wife?"
Anna’s face turned a deep shade of red as she gasped for air, her hands clawing weakly at Alex’s arm. Maria, still unconscious on the floor, and Sebastian’s frantic pleas did little to sway Alex’s resolve.
"Mr. Alex, please!" Sebastian begged, tears streaming down his face. "We didn’t know! We were kept in the dark about everything. Please, don’t harm her!"
With a final, violent shake, Alex dropped Anna onto the ground. She lay there, gasping for breath, clutching her throat. Alex turned to his subordinates and barked, "Get this place cleaned up. I want every detail about Jack and the Smith family’s involvement. They are to be thoroughly investigated."
As his subordinates moved to comply, Alex’s gaze returned to the Smith family. He saw their fear, but his own determination was unwavering.
"I’ll give you one chance," he said, his voice cold and harsh. "Tell me everything you know about Jack’s whereabouts and his plans, or you will face the same fate as Anna. This is your last warning."
Anna, recovering slightly, struggled to her feet, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and defiance. "Even if we tell you, there’s no guarantee you’ll find him. Jack is always one step ahead."
Alex’s expression hardened. "If you want to stay alive, you’ll do everything in your power to help me. I don’t care how powerful Jack is. I will find him and make him pay for what he’s done."
Alex’s eyes were like ice as he stared at Anna, his anger barely contained. "I have no patience for excuses. Anna was directly involved in the scheme to kidnap Claire.
That’s enough for me to take action. I’m telling you, if you don’t explain clearly today, don’t blame me for being ruthless," said Alex.
Sebastian couldn’t help but tremble at Alex’s words. He looked at Alex’s grim face and didn’t dare to hesitate any longer. He quickly said, "Anna, if you know anything, please speak up quickly..."
Anna struggled for a while, but Alex’s strength was too great, and she had no way to resist. Finally, as Alex’s grip tightened, her consciousness gradually faded, and her face turned red. She gasped for breath and managed to say a few words.
"Cole, Cole..."
Upon hearing this, Alex paused for a second, then narrowed his eyes and fell into deep thought. Suddenly, he let go of her, and with a contemptuous tone, he said, "Take her away!"
"Interrogate her!"
As soon as he finished speaking, two soldiers stepped forward and dragged Anna out. Seeing this, Sebastian’s face turned pale. He quickly stood in front of Anna and said, "Commander Alex, Anna is a simple child. If she did something wrong, I will make it up to her! She has never suffered any grievances in her life, so please don’t..."
"Oh?" Alex paused, pursed his lips, and his sharp gaze was as piercing as a knife. He said in a cold voice, "If you can’t bear to let her go, then go with her yourself."
After saying this, Alex glanced at the bodyguards beside him. The bodyguards understood and immediately stepped forward to take Sebastian away.
Sebastian was stunned. He never expected Alex to be so heartless.
Anna was even more frightened, looking like she could faint at any moment. She watched as Alex turned around coldly, and her heart suddenly panicked. She quickly spoke up,
"Commander Alex, I only know his name, I really don’t know anything else! That person was brought by Jack, and I only learned some information because I’ve been getting closer to Jack these days. As for harming my sister, I really don’t know anything about it!"
Alex paused in his steps, turned around, and a cold-blooded smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. "You don’t know anything? Then why did you poison my Grandpa and cause his death?"
Anna’s body trembled, and she bit her lip tightly. "I..."
Alex interrupted her and continued, "If anything happens to Claire, I’ll send you down to accompany her."
Upon hearing this, Anna’s face turned pale.
"Don’t forget, the Smith family can live peacefully now, all thanks to Claire’s words!"
Sebastian heard this and a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes. "Anna, didn’t you say you were the one who saved our collapsing company?"
Upon hearing Sebastian’s words, Anna’s face became even stiffer, stuttering, "Dad, please don’t say anything. It was Claire who talked to Alex, not me."
"What? This?!"
Sebastian was shocked and suddenly understood what had happened before. He quickly urged, "Anna, if you know anything, please tell us quickly!"
"How should I put it? Claire is also your sister. Such a big thing has happened; we have to help find her together!" Anna lowered her head, tears streaming down her face as she choked out, "I... I didn’t mean to harm Claire. I don’t know much, only that he’s called Cole."
"The last place I met him was in an abandoned factory in the eastern suburbs."
"As for the old man’s body..."
Anna timidly raised her eyes and glanced at Alex, whispering, "Commander Alex and he took it away. I didn’t participate anymore."
"The abandoned factory in the eastern suburbs!"
Alex furrowed his brows tightly and turned around, about to give orders to the bodyguards beside him. At the door, a figure rushed in, panting and gasping, "Commander Alex, we found it!"
As he turned on his heel and began to leave, he paused to cast one last, piercing glance at the Smith family. "You have one hour to provide me with all the information you have. If you fail, I will hold each of you accountable for Claire’s suffering."
With that, Alex and his team left the Smith family’s residence. The tension in the room was palpable as the Smith family members looked at each other, their faces pale with fear and uncertainty.
Anna, struggling to regain her composure, said, "We have to cooperate. If we don’t, we’ll all be destroyed."
Sebastian nodded vigorously, his face lined with worry. "We need to do whatever it takes to give Alex the information he needs. For our survival, and to hopefully make things right."
They quickly set to work, gathering every piece of information they had about Jack and his plans, hoping it would be enough to satisfy Alex and buy them some time.
Alex drove quickly and headed towards the eastern suburbs. In just a moment, they arrived at the location their subordinate had mentioned.
On the side of the road, a pool of blood was very conspicuous, causing Alex’s heart to contract!
"Commander Alex, judging from the bloodstains, it should have been left three hours ago. It matches the time when Miss Claire was abducted, so it should be hers," stated a military soldier calmly.
Alex looked around, his heart tightening. Obviously, they had been driving and stopped temporarily; only then did this pool of blood appear. Unless something unexpected happened, it should be a signal left by Claire.
At this moment, although they were all in the eastern suburbs, the abandoned factory that Anna mentioned was in a completely different direction. Who should he trust now?
Suddenly, Alex noticed a mountain not far away and his eyes narrowed. "You take a team to continue to the abandoned factory in the eastern suburbs, and the rest of you get in the car and follow me!"
"Yes!" The bodyguards quickly followed Alex towards the mountaintop and soon found a wooden house.
The chaotic noise woke up Cole, who was in a coma. He quickly got up and saw the broken rope on the ground, cursing inwardly, "Damn it!" He hadn’t expected to be ambushed by that woman and let her escape. It seemed he had underestimated her.
Cole moved close to the wall beside the window and secretly observed the situation outside. When he saw Alex bringing dozens of black-clad bodyguards, his heart sank. He glared at the body of Old Master Miller inside the house and gritted his teeth. Then, he grabbed a chair and smashed the window before flying out.
With a loud crash, Alex immediately looked up and saw Cole flying out of the window. He quickly ordered his men to chase after him into the darkness. "That’s the guy! Brothers, catch him!" a bodyguard shouted.
"Wait!" Alex coldly stopped them. "Search the house first and find Claire!"
The bodyguard quickly responded and led his men into the wooden house. However, after a thorough search, they couldn’t find Claire. Apart from a cold corpse, there was nothing else to be found.
Alex saw the rope on the ground that had been cut by a stone and recalled the scene of Cole escaping alone just now. His mood was complicated. Claire must have escaped, but in this vast wilderness, where could she go?
