Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 153: Kill Claire

Chapter 153: Kill Claire

Lucy’s heart was filled with resentment and unwillingness, but she dared not go against Lady Phillips.

"I understand, Mommy," Lucy lowered her eyes.

She knew that the relationship between her and the Greg family had been completely broken, and it was almost impossible for her to marry into the Greg family now! Therefore, she had to stabilize the Greg family first and then figure out a way.

Lady Phillips patted Lucy’s shoulder. "Mommy knows you’re not satisfied, but you can’t be too hasty. Take it slow."

"Okay, thank you, Mommy."

After chatting for a while, Lucy and Lady Phillips left separately. On her way back, Lucy was extremely agitated. She couldn’t help but think of Josh’s cold attitude towards her, which made her even more unwilling to accept it.

"I won’t lose to anyone," Lucy clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself down. She must find a suitable opportunity as soon as possible and plan carefully. Failure was not an option.

After some consideration, Lucy picked up the phone and dialed a number.

The phone rang for a long time before Anna answered.

"Hello, Anna," Lucy lowered her voice and spoke softly.

"Lucy, is that you? What’s up?" Anna’s voice was excited. "You want to know about Claire, right?"

"Yeah. Where are you?" Lucy asked.

"I’m at the central hospital in City A," Anna replied. "Claire was discharged today."

Anna’s voice became excited. "Are you going? She deserved it, and it’s not worth feeling sorry for her! I think you shouldn’t go."

"She deserved it? What are you talking about?" Lucy frowned.

Anna sighed and said, "Never mind, I’ll tell you the truth. I’ve arranged everything, and I’m going to take Claire’s life today!"

"What... what did you say?" Lucy was shocked to hear Anna’s words. How could Anna be so cruel?

"I didn’t kill Jack, but Jack died because of me. I’ve made up my mind about this a long time ago, so you don’t have to worry about it," Anna said.

"Anna, you’re really too ruthless!" Lucy said angrily.

"Cruel? Lucy, do you know? I have nightmares every night now, dreaming that Claire is coming to take my life," Anna’s voice was filled with fear and dread.

"You... don’t think too much! I will help you! You can definitely escape the punishment!" Lucy’s words sounded weak and feeble.

"Lucy, I have no way to escape the punishment now. There is only one way," Anna’s tone was filled with hatred. "Kill her. Once she’s dead, no one can hurt me and my father again!"

"Anna, don’t be impulsive!" Lucy quickly tried to stop her.

"I’m not impulsive? Lucy, do you really think you can stop me? Claire, don’t even think about living anymore in this lifetime! Hahaha..." Anna laughed wildly.

Hearing Anna’s laughter, Lucy couldn’t help but shiver, feeling a chill in her heart.

Anna actually wanted to kill Claire!

But Lucy still needed Claire to do things for her. She couldn’t just watch her die like this! Josh’s cold eyes and his words, "Get lost," flashed through Lucy’s mind.

Lucy took a deep breath, trying to adjust her own state, and then said into the phone, "Anna, Claire has woken up. Now, you have to promise me not to hurt her anymore. I will think of other ways!"

"What ways?" Anna’s voice was still cold.

"It’s confidential for now," Lucy said casually.

"Hmph! Forget it then. I have something else to do, so I’ll hang up now," Anna’s tone was tinged with impatience.

Lucy pursed her lips.

"Beep... beep... beep..."

A busy tone came from the other end of the phone.

Lucy’s heart tightened, and she hurriedly rushed out.

"Master, to City A Central Hospital, please hurry!"

She had to rush to the hospital immediately otherwise, if Anna succeeded, she would lose Claire forever.

At the same time, a black Rolls-Royce Phantom was speeding down the road. Inside the car, Josh’s face was ashen.

"Boss, where are we going?" The person, sitting in the passenger seat, couldn’t help but ask.

"To the hospital," Josh said coldly.

"The hospital?" he raised his head in surprise. "Boss, why do you need to go to the hospital?"

"My leg is injured. I need to get it checked," Josh replied, his tone indifferent, as if discussing something trivial.

The man was stunned. Josh had injured his leg, yet he’d hidden it all this time. Was he doing it on purpose?

"Boss, how serious is your injury? Do you really need to go to the hospital?" he asked hesitantly.

"No need!" Josh shot a cold glance at him and spat out the words with irritation.

Sebastian’s forehead broke out in a cold sweat. He swallowed hard, not daring to ask further questions. However, deep down, he knew Josh wasn’t really injured—he just wanted an excuse to visit Claire.

Josh’s eyes flickered with a cold light, his gaze as chilling as ice.

The car became silent.

In an effort to break the tension, he cleared his throat and began recounting an amusing story he’d recently heard.

"Boss, you won’t believe what happened today! After work, I ran into a crazy woman on the street. She was driving like a lunatic and almost hit me. If I hadn’t dodged in time, I’d be in the hospital right now!"

"A crazy woman?" Josh raised an eyebrow.

"Yes! Boss, don’t you remember? It’s Anna from the Smith family!" the man explained.

Josh’s expression darkened instantly.

"Where did you see her?"

He recounted the incident in detail.

"You said she was at the hospital gate?" Josh’s voice turned icy.

"Yes, and after the incident, she even glanced at our car as though she was searching for someone," he recalled.

Josh narrowed his eyes. How dare someone target his car? His heart clenched.

Could Anna be targeting Claire? He had to stop her immediately.

"Drive faster!" Josh ordered sharply.

"What’s wrong, Boss? Is something wrong?" Sebastian’s heart sank, sensing something amiss.

Josh’s face grew darker. A vague sense of foreboding gnawed at him. Could something terrible have happened?

"Don’t waste time. Faster!" Josh barked.

The man’s fingers trembled slightly as he stepped hard on the accelerator.

---

At the Western Medical Clinic, Claire was packing her things in the ward, with Alex by her side.

"Do you want to grab something to eat after we leave?" Alex asked gently.

Claire shook her head. "I don’t feel like eating. I just want to see Leander as soon as possible."

"Alright, I’ll accompany you," Alex smiled reassuringly. "Don’t worry. Leander’s safe and already waiting at our new home."

Claire frowned. "Our new home? Didn’t Leander move to the old Miller family mansion?"

"No," Alex shook his head. "He doesn’t like my mother. Besides, I promised you a surprise."

"Ever since our house burned down, I’ve been planning a new one. I’ve made all the arrangements, and everything is ready."

Though Alex’s tone was filled with anticipation, Claire felt uneasy. However, she nodded lightly, whispering, "Thank you."

She appreciated Alex’s efforts, and she didn’t want to reject his sincerity.

Alex smiled, pleased she didn’t resist. He stepped back to let her finish packing.

Just as Claire was about to leave the ward, the door swung open.

Josh walked in, his tall figure commanding attention.

"Josh, why are you here again?" Claire was surprised. She didn’t expect him to return to the clinic.

Without a word, Josh walked to the bedside and sat down.

"Do you hate me that much, Claire?" Josh’s tone carried a tinge of sarcasm.

Claire lowered her head, saying nothing.

Alex stepped forward, positioning himself between them.

"Josh, Claire is being discharged today. If there’s nothing urgent, please leave. You have a business engagement tonight, don’t you? Missing it could impact your plans. Don’t worry—I’ll take care of Claire."

Claire glanced at Alex, a grateful smile spreading across her face.

Josh’s expression turned colder, his eyes darkening as he looked at Alex.

"Claire will be in danger when she leaves this clinic. I’ll personally escort her back," Josh declared firmly.

Claire blinked, stunned. She hadn’t expected Josh to offer such assistance.

Alex’s lips curved into a sarcastic smile. "Josh, I appreciate the sentiment, but Claire prefers to avoid unnecessary attention. I’m more than capable of ensuring her safety. Please, don’t trouble yourself."

Josh’s face darkened further, his frustration evident.

"Alex, don’t overestimate yourself. I meant what I said," Josh growled, his gaze sharp and unwavering.

"Today, I must send you back! If you don’t know what’s good for you, don’t blame me for being impolite!"

A trace of coldness flashed across Alex’s face as he spoke.

Claire tugged on Alex’s sleeve and gently shook her head at him.

"Mr. Josh, in that case, it would be too much trouble for you to personally escort us back. I would be very grateful."

Claire’s voice was crisp and pleasant, but it held an air of distance.

"Hmph!" Josh glared coldly at Alex before turning around and striding out of the ward.

Claire followed Alex out of the hospital. Along the way, she and Josh exchanged no words.

Alex also didn’t take the initiative to speak, and the atmosphere between the two remained silent.
