Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 126: Went too far

Chapter 126: Went too far

Nelson opened his mouth to speak buthesitated. In the end, he said nothing and silently left the room.

Night fell. Darkness enveloped the entire city. One car after another passed by.

Inside the car, Alex held Claire in his arms, silent and solemn.

"Dad, Mom," Leander weakly called out.

"Hmm?" Alex was taken aback.

Leander slowly opened his dark eyes and looked at Alex, asking, "Where are we going?"

"To find Grandma," Alex answered.

Claire looked confused after hearing Alex’s explanation. Isn’t it dangerous to go to the Miller family at this time?

Alex noticed Claire’s unease, gently stroked Leander’s forehead, and smiled tenderly. "Don’t worry, Leander, you’ll be safe with me here."

"Really?" Leander blinked his big black eyes.

Alex nodded. "Thank you, Dad."

"Silly child, what are you thanking me for?" Alex indulgently glanced at Leander and continued driving toward the old Miller family mansion in the suburbs.

On the way, Alex received a phone call. The voice on the other end of the line said a simple sentence: "Alex, you are my savior, I won’t kill you. But Claire must die."

Alex’s expression turned cold.

Alex sternly rebuked, "Let me tell you, Claire is the woman I have chosen, and no one can touch her!"

"If you dare harm her in any way, I will make sure you have no place to bury your body!"

"Alex, I advise you to hand her over to me immediately. Otherwise, the consequences will be beyond your ability to bear."

"What do you think you are?" Alex yelled angrily.

Although the organization was powerful, the Miller family was not afraid of it.

Snap! Alex hung up the phone and threw it aside.

"What’s wrong?" Claire asked.

"Just some useless trash," Alex said casually.

Hearing Alex’s words, Claire breathed a sigh of relief.

Alex turned to Claire and said softly, "Claire, we’re safe now."

"That’s good," Claire smiled lightly, her exquisite face lighting up with a brilliant and charming smile.

"However..." Pausing for a moment, Alex continued, "Thanks to a friend’s help this time, otherwise we would have been in trouble."

"A friend?"

"Yes," Alex nodded. "I didn’t expect Nelson would be able to help," Alex sighed.

"Nelson?" Claire’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she asked in a deep voice.

"Yes."

Claire’s expression became serious, and after thinking for a moment, she said slowly, "His identity cannot be involved in this matter."

"Oh?" Alex was surprised. "Are you concerned about him?"

"No, we just met by chance, and he helped you. I shouldn’t express any feelings toward him," Claire explained, shaking her head.

"I understand," Alex suddenly realized.

Claire pursed her pink lips and said softly, "Alex, it’s not the time for you to be jealous!"

"Let’s discuss what to do next," she continued.

"You rest for a while, I’ll take care of the rest," said Alex, focused on driving, without any dissatisfaction toward Claire’s words.

Inside the car, there was a brief moment of calm.

Half an hour later, Alex brought Claire to the old mansion of the Miller family.

Under the guidance of the butler, the two entered a separate courtyard.

Inside the courtyard, the lighting was dim, and there was silence all around.

Tap, tap, tap...

Footsteps slowly echoed.

Soon, Alex supported Claire as they walked into the main hall.

"Mom, I’m back," Alex respectfully called out.

"Hmm."

Sitting on the sofa, Emma gave a light hum and did not get up to greet Alex.

Alex paid no attention to Emma’s attitude.

Claire was slightly stunned and felt a bit lost.

Alex extended his right hand and held Claire’s delicate hand, indicating that she didn’t need to feel restrained.

Emma glanced over with a cold expression. She had also heard about what had happened today.

The tragic experience from five years ago was still vivid in her mind, and the danger had only increased since then. Naturally, Emma attributed all of this to Claire.

If this woman hadn’t come back, Alex wouldn’t have encountered such danger.

"Mom, it was my negligence today," Alex said.

"Hmph, your negligence?" Emma sneered.

"You’re being too lenient. How could you know what they were thinking?"

"Claire, it’s one thing for you to come back, but why did you have to harm my son?"

"This family doesn’t welcome you!" Emma stood up and roared in anger.

"Aunt, you misunderstood," Claire quickly explained. She had hoped to use this opportunity to repair her relationship with the Miller family, but she had unexpectedly provoked their anger.

"Misunderstood?"

"Heh... Claire, do you think I’m a three-year-old child?"

"The tragedy from five years ago will never be allowed to happen again!" Emma snorted.

"Since Cole is looking for you, go and solve this problem yourself. Don’t bring trouble to our family!"

Claire gritted her teeth and remained silent. She didn’t know that Emma hated her so much.

"Claire, I’m telling you, from today on, you are not allowed to step into this house," Emma pointed at Claire and shouted.

"Mom..." Alex frowned.

"You shut up."

"This matter is none of your business," Emma glared at Alex angrily and cursed in a cold voice.

Alex’s face darkened, and his fists clenched with a creaking sound. He stepped forward and stood in front of Claire, saying coldly,

"Mom, you’ve been brainwashed."

"In front of you, there’s not only your son, but also your daughter-in-law and grandson."

"We are all your family! How could you do something that hurts us?" Claire hung her head low and remained silent.

"Family?" Emma sneered and mocked, "Alex, I warn you, if you continue to defend her, don’t blame me for turning against you."

Alex pondered for a few seconds, sighed, and said, "Alright, let’s stop here."

"I’m tired and need to rest. Please leave." After saying that, Alex walked towards the stairs.

Seeing this, Emma was furious. She pointed at Claire and cursed, "Stop right there, Claire! Get out of here, or I’ll call the police to arrest you."

Claire trembled, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Alex paused for a moment. His gaze turned cold, and he said in a chilling voice, "Mom, don’t forget, I am now the head of the Miller family!"

Upon hearing this, Emma was stunned and said, "But I’m your mother! You’re actually scolding me for a stranger? Does that mean that in your heart, only Claire is family, and everyone else is a stranger? Let me tell you, Alex, unless you change your surname, this will never change." Emma roared in anger.

Alex took a few deep breaths, forced down his anger, and turned to Claire. "Claire, take Leander upstairs to rest."

"No, I don’t agree!" Emma yelled. "Alex, why keep this despicable person here? Let her leave—"

"Shut up!" Alex suddenly raised his head, his eyes coldly staring at Emma like a beast that instilled fear. This was the first time Alex had revealed his true self. Even after five years, he hadn’t changed a bit.

To the outside world, Alex’s image was that of a typical, gentle, and elegant nobleman, refined and handsome in appearance, courteous to others. Yet, this sinister and cold aura had always lingered around him, impossible to dispel.

"Mom, this is the last time I will call you," Alex said calmly, his tone indifferent. "From today on, we are no longer indebted to each other, and we have no relationship. I hope that from now on, we will have nothing to do with each other." With that, Alex took Claire’s hand and headed upstairs.

Emma hurriedly stepped forward, blocking their way. "This is ridiculous! Do you know this woman will harm you? I’ve already investigated Cole. He looks exactly like you. How do you know that the child this woman gave birth to is yours and not his?"

Upon hearing this, Alex was slightly stunned, clearly not expecting Emma to have investigated the matter.

"Mom, you don’t need to worry about this. I have plans, and you can rest assured," Alex said coldly.

"No! This matter must be clarified!" Emma insisted.

Alex frowned. "Mom, I have plans for this. Just trust me."

Emma opened her mouth to speak but ultimately chose to compromise and did not pursue the matter further.

At this moment, Leander’s small face turned pale with fear as he hid behind Claire and timidly asked, "Mom, does Grandma not like me?"

Claire gently touched Leander’s face and softly said, "Leander, Grandma isn’t a bad person. You don’t have to be afraid."

Leander blinked his watery eyes and obediently leaned on Claire’s shoulder.

Emma’s expression froze as she looked down at Leander.

A strong sense of guilt filled Emma’s eyes. "Leander, Grandma was wrong..." Emma apologized.

Leander shook his little head and said, "Don’t worry, I’ll grow up someday." Claire smiled and picked up Leander, walking toward the bedroom.

Seeing this, Emma breathed a sigh of relief. "Mom, you went too far just now," Alex said coldly.

"Too far?" Emma’s expression stiffened. "Didn’t I speak the truth?"

Mom, Claire married me and is now part of the Miller family. How can you believe the words of outsiders?" Alex replied.
