Chapter 523: 523 Conceal Identity, Deprive Surname! [1 more]
"I understand," the young deacon said gravely, "everything is already prepared, just waiting for your command."
Kristin nodded and continued, "Heaven-reaching Tower failed to kill me this time, they will definitely lie low for a while. Don’t worry, I will control my temper."
"That’s right!" Wen Chaosheng clapped his hands, "Rich Sister, as the proverb goes, impatience spoils great plans. Maybe one day when Extreme Path is strong enough to take down Heaven-reaching Tower, you can even let dogs stand on them and relieve themselves!"
Kristin’s expression became somewhat indescribable, "Your words are a bit disgusting, YN Sister, are you okay?"
"I’m fine, just need to sleep," Ye Wanlan shook her head slightly, "don’t worry about me."
Wen Chaosheng volubly offered, "I’ll take YN Sister back to the hotel!"
"Xiao Ye, you go too." Kristin coughed slightly and said, "Vlad is enough for me here. Since I’ve awakened, my power is still intact."
Yeh Xingli nodded, "Okay."
The two of them accompanied Ye Wanlan out of the hospital.
The sun had already set, and the sunset dyed half the sky red, like cinnabar spreading on white paper, painting a vast fire.
"Fortunately, today the people of Extreme Path set fire and made speeches at the entrance of Heaven-reaching Tower, delaying enough time," Wen Chaosheng sighed, "YN Sister, let Mr. Ye drive, we’ll send you back together—"
His words were not yet finished when Ye Wanlan’s body swayed, about to fall towards the ground.
"Careful!" Yeh Xingli exclaimed.
However, before he could reach out to support Ye Wanlan, a pair of strong arms appeared, securely holding the girl in an embrace.
Ye Wanlan glanced at him, and trusting him completely, she fell asleep right then.
This gesture caused Yan Tingfeng’s arms to tremble slightly, a faint smile unconsciously appearing in his eyes.
The trust Ye Wanlan had bestowed upon him caused an unprecedented tremor within him, even his heart and blood seemed to shiver uncontrollably.
"Wanlan is safe with me," Yan Tingfeng said politely with a nod to the two, "no need to trouble you further."
He carried the girl into the car, the door closed, and the vehicle quickly sped away.
"He..." Wen Chaosheng was startled, turning his head, "how did he know YN Sister was here?"
"You’re silly!" Yeh Xingli shrugged, "Of course, because when YN Sister rushed over, she was with him."
"Where am I silly?" Wen Chaosheng felt somewhat aggrieved, "I was asking how he managed to come here just at the right time!"
"That’s even simpler," Yeh Xingli looked at him with disdain, "YN Sister was so tired, of course, she would contact her friend."
Wen Chaosheng couldn’t reply.
Yet, he always felt that the young man carried a very dangerous aura.
But this aura was so intangible, it was elusive.
Based on his years of experience in dealing with people, that young man must be hiding something!
"Well, YN Sister has been picked up by a friend, we can rest easy too," Yeh Xingli finally felt relieved, "I need a good rest myself."
Wen Chaosheng watched the direction Yan Tingfeng left, muttering, "Really strange..."
What more hidden identities does this man have?

At 8 p.m., Global Channel began broadcasting the day’s latest news.
"Tonight’s report: this morning, Miss Kristin Constans, President of the World Bank, was involved in a severe car accident," the presenter said solemnly, "Universal Hospital is urgently treating Miss Kristin. Let us pray for her."
As soon as the news came out, the entire Universal Net was in an uproar.
[I remember the President of the World Bank has a whole team of bodyguards and is escorted by vehicles all around during trips. How could such a severe accident happen?]
"Could this really be a conspiracy?!"
"My god, now that Miss Kristin has left, who can take over her spot at the World Bank?"
"Isn’t she being overly glorified? What skills does one need to become the President of the World Bank anyway? It’s all just a matter of being promoted; I could do it too."
"Aren’t people aware that Miss Kristin was already known as the Financial Queen before she took the President position at the World Bank?
And you think you could do it too? Are you also capable of creating a financial storm just like Miss Kristin could within minutes?"
"Now it’s not only the World Bank in chaos, but the Constans Family too, a good heir gone, time to pick anew."
"Don’t talk nonsense, Miss Kristin is a person blessed by heaven, she will definitely be fine!"
...
Online speculation was rampant about whether Christine could weather this ordeal, but the Constans Family had already concluded that Christine no longer had a chance of surviving.
They did not bother waiting at Universal Hospital anymore but had gathered the direct lineage members, currently convening an emergency high-level family meeting.
"Ladies and gentlemen, although the orders from Heaven-reaching Tower have instructed Universal Hospital to maintain Christine’s vital signs, the hospital has confirmed that she can no longer awake," Brutus loudly claimed. "This car accident caught us off guard and yet proved it was just an accident."
"An accident?" One of the elders scoffed coldly. "Brutus, dare you swear on your life that you had nothing to do with this car accident?"
"Of course!" Brutus declared proudly. "I swear on my life that Christine’s car accident had nothing to do with me and her brother!"
At the Global Center, one must not swear lightly; breaking such an oath could bring divine retribution.
Yet Brutus spoke with such righteousness that it silenced the elders.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the urgent issue now is that we must take over all the family assets under my daughter’s command," Brutus suppressed the joy that reached his brows, "this vital issue must be resolved tonight."
Kieran nodded in agreement, adding, "Father is right; if we don’t take over these assets quickly, other powers will react and encircle us, and by then, it would be extremely unfavorable to us."
"As Christine’s father, I understand her best, so it’s proper that I manage this," Brutus said with a smile, sweeping his gaze around, "what do you all think?"
"..."
Silence reigned.
After a silence of ten seconds or more, someone finally spoke, "There are too many assets under Christine; Brutus, your appetite is a bit too large."
Christine had the ability to manage these assets, but that didn’t mean Brutus did.
"I have my son Kieran to help me handle it as well," Brutus said confidently, "Elders, we should decide with a vote, there’s no time to delay!"
The oldest elder began to speak slowly, "Then—"
"Bang!"
The doors of the hall suddenly burst open, cutting off the elder’s words.
"No need to vote," a voice followed, "things that Miss Kristin did not approve of, voting is useless."
Everyone turned around and frowned upon seeing who it was.
"Vlad, you’re just a bastard orphan," Kieran scoffed coldly. "Good luck saved my sister’s life and earned you the Constans surname, you really shouldn’t start thinking you’re truly one of the Constans."
He detested this young Deacon who was close to Christine, believing him to have stolen Christine’s favor from him.
But he was Christine’s brother, even if there were conflicts between them, Christine should leave everything to him.
The expressions of the elders also showed displeasure.
They valued hierarchy highly; even a chief steward within the family was still a servant, not qualified to confront or rebuke family members in such meetings.
This servant of Christine’s was truly spoiled, completely out of line.
"And besides, my sister is already dead," Kieran added, "you’d best leave now!"
"Who told you I was dead?" the next second, a familiar chilly female voice sounded, "Instead, from now on, the two of you, the surname Constans, need not be borne."
