Chapter 227: Chapter 227: Expelling Sheng Yunyi from the Sheng Family [1 Update]
"..."
The entire meeting room fell silent, with some shareholders even abruptly standing up, looking toward the tightly shut door in utter astonishment.
Wasn’t that... Sheng Huaiqian’s voice?!
Hadn’t Sheng Huaiqian been sent to the police station by Sheng Ronghua for "poisoning Patriarch Sheng"?
How could he suddenly appear here?
The door was pushed open, and Sheng Huaiqian walked in wearing a suit, his gaze icy.
Sheng Ronghua’s face turned a shade of iron blue, "Sheng Huaiqian, how did you escape? You’re a felon!"
He had submitted all the evidence, with both testimonial and material evidence, Sheng Huaiqian couldn’t possibly get away.
But, as due process had to be followed in every case, and it was still under investigation, Sheng Huaiqian had only been detained and not formally arrested.
"Father is still alive, yet you’re already plotting to take over the entire Sheng Corporation?" Sheng Huaiqian simply asked, "What, do you think by getting rid of me and Father, you can reign supreme by yourself?"
Sheng Ronghua frowned slightly, reining in his emotions, "Get rid of? You were the one who poisoned Father, and I merely followed the will of heaven. With both of you out of the way, who else but me could bear the weight of the Sheng Corporation?"
"Father, you heard it all," Sheng Huaiqian said with a slight smile, "He and his mother are no different, both of them only live for their own interests. Whoever harms his interests, whoever stands in his way, must die."
Having all his thoughts exposed on the spot, Sheng Ronghua’s face turned green, and he sneered, "Sheng Huaiqian, stop playing tricks here. The hospital issued another critical condition notice this morning; Father is laid up in bed, how could he possibly—"
"Sheng, Rong, Hua!"
An angry shout interrupted Sheng Ronghua’s words, accompanied by violent coughing.
The voice came before the man did.
The sound of the wheelchair’s wheels could be heard, and seconds later, Patriarch Sheng was pushed into the room in his wheelchair by bodyguards.
His face was as dignified as ever, though his eyes were excessively cold.
As if he had seen a ghost, Sheng Ronghua stumbled, the color draining from his face to leave him as white as a sheet.
How could Patriarch Sheng have woken up?!
The poison he had found was supposed to have no antidote, and no cure!
The victim’s brain functions would gradually stop, eventually leading to only one path: death.
Could it be that he was cheated by the person who sold him the poison?!
The shareholders were also extremely shocked and stood up in unison.
"Director Sheng?!"
"It really is Director Sheng!"
"Wasn’t it said that Director Sheng was seriously ill in the hospital, and even..."
With Patriarch Sheng waking up, the situation had completely changed!
"Dad..." Sheng Ronghua forced himself to calm down and revealed a rather unsightly smile, "Dad, what I meant was that I had to support Sheng Corporation until you woke up, Big Brother is deliberately misinterpreting my words!"
In the past, as long as he pinned the blame on Sheng Huaiqian, Patriarch Sheng would believe him.
But this time, it was entirely beyond Sheng Ronghua’s expectations.
"Sheng Ronghua, stop the act! All those words you said in front of my sickbed, I heard them loud and clear," Patriarch Sheng said with a cold laugh, "You really are a good son of mine, huh? Ask yourself, have I wronged you in all these years?!"
Sheng Yunyi is a girl, who will marry out of the family eventually, unrelated to the Sheng Family.
But Sheng Ronghua was different; he was the younger son in whom he had invested all his resources only to be rewarded with a brutal betrayal.
Sheng Ronghua’s face turned instantly white, and he staggered backward, "Dad, you heard... heard it all?"
At this moment, his spine was soaked with cold sweat, making it extremely difficult to breathe.
He was certain Patriarch Sheng wouldn’t wake up, and without consciousness, so he revealed his true face when they were alone.
Yet, all his calculations were shattered by the unexpected!
And he was meant to have covered every base!
"Little brother, if you have anything to say, save it for the police station," Sheng Huaiqian returned all his words, "Remember, you’re a felon."

News of Patriarch Sheng’s awakening hadn’t been released to the public yet, but Sheng Huaiqian and Sheng Ronghua’s situations had reversed.
Sheng Huaiqian successfully cleared all suspicions, while Sheng Ronghua ended up in detention.
"Miss Ye, the matter has been resolved. With my father as the witness, Sheng Ronghua won’t be able to escape," Sheng Huaiqian let out a long sigh of relief, "I owe it all to Miss Ye, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have known what to do."
"I was merely executing my plan, you don’t need to thank me," Ye Wanlan nodded, "It’s good that the issue was resolved in the simplest way."
After thinking for a moment, Sheng Huaiqian ventured, "If Sheng Ronghua had succeeded this time, what would Miss Ye have done then?"
"What would I have done?" Ye Wanlan spoke indifferently, "Then I would have simply made Sheng Corporation disappear from Jiangcheng, it just would have required a bit more effort."
Sheng Huaiqian was profoundly shaken.
The Sheng Corporation was also a decades-old established company and had been deeply rooted in Jiangcheng for a long time; even the Zhou Family wouldn’t dare to make such a claim lightly.
But Ye Wanlan had said it.
And if she said it, she could make it happen.
"Fortunately, he didn’t succeed. I have other matters to attend to, and can’t spare too much energy to contend with him," Ye Wanlan said lightly, "I won’t interfere with the Sheng Family’s affairs anymore; you handle it yourself."
"Of course, Miss Ye," Sheng Huaiqian said respectfully, "I will personally continue to follow up on the cooperation with Pulling the Sky Company."
The most important thing next was to clean house within both the Sheng Family and Sheng Corporation from top to bottom, replacing everyone with his own people.
After Sheng Huaiqian left, Ye Wanlan finished her last sip of coffee and also pushed the door open to leave.
The September sunshine was just right, and osmanthus trees lined the roads, their blossoms filling the air with a light fragrance—refreshing and pleasant.
Madam Qin was accompanying Qin Yu; both had just come out from their company and were preparing to stroll around Everlight City.
She looked up, unexpectedly locking eyes with Ye Wanlan, and her footsteps came to a halt.
Noticing Madam Qin’s odd behavior, Qin Yu followed her gaze and saw Ye Wanlan as well.
His pupils narrowed.
Wasn’t this the young girl often seen with Zhou Hechen?
He had seen her a few times, but he had been busy with business outside for the past year and hardly returned to Jiangcheng.
After some time apart, this young girl had developed such a presence?
"Ah Yu, let’s go," Madam Qin quickly avoided Ye Wanlan’s gaze, pulling Qin Yu away.
"Mom?" Qin Yu looked back, wanting to see.
"Don’t look," Madam Qin tugged at Qin Yu and warned again, "Haven’t I told you? You must never run into that Miss from just now, and if you do, you must treat her with the utmost respect, understand?"
Qin Yu raised his eyebrows in surprise, "Mom, are you serious?"
He seemed to remember Madam Qin specifically calling to tell him this, but he hadn’t taken it to heart.
"Of course, I’m serious," Madam Qin said anxiously, "You must remember this, do you hear me?"
She loved Qin Xian, no doubt about that, but Qin Xian was just a son raised for pleasure who couldn’t compare to Qin Yu, who was to inherit the Qin Family.
Quin Yu absolutely couldn’t afford any mishaps.
"Okay, okay, Mom, I’ve got it," Qin Yu said, but internally he just felt that Madam Qin was making a big deal out of nothing.
No matter how powerful, Ye Wanlan was ultimately just a woman.
In the high stakes of the business world, women had little power—not everyone was like Quan Zhaoning of Zhaoyan Group.
But Madam Qin was very nervous, repeating her warning, "Ah Yu, you’re all I have left, you must remember."
Ye Wanlan didn’t go out of her way to greet Madam Qin and scare her; instead, she bought two glasses of lemonade and went to the place she had agreed to meet Yan Tingfeng.
"Xiao Wan, over here," Yan Tingfeng called to her from under the willow tree, his lips curling into a smile.
Ye Wanlan stepped forward and handed him one of the glasses of lemonade.
Yan Tingfeng blinked, "Can I drink this?"
"Yes," Ye Wanlan raised an eyebrow, "Constantly taking medicine isn’t good either; it’s better to drink some juice to cheer yourself up."
Yan Tingfeng chuckled softly, shaking his head, "If you’re the one giving me the medicine, I’m happy as well."
It had been a very long time since he’d felt the caring sensation like this.
"Okay, drink up," Ye Wanlan said as she pulled a book out from her backpack, covering her face with it and lying down on the grass, "I’m going to rest for a while."
Yan Tingfeng’s gaze also softened gradually, "Alright."

Meanwhile, Zhou Hechen was accompanying Sheng Yunyi back to the Sheng Family Old Mansion.
To cheer Sheng Yunyi up, he had taken her to Harbor City for a change of scenery and had the chance to interact with several major families there, reaping considerable benefits.
"Yunyi, don’t be sad, no one expected what happened to Uncle Sheng," Zhou Hechen consoled her, "I will persuade my mother so we can complete our marriage contract as soon as possible. Once you join the Zhou Family, you won’t have to suffer any more grievances."
Sheng Yunyi responded softly, "Yes, who could have expected..."
Zhou Hechen was about to say more when his phone began to ring insistently—it was urgent business from the company.
He hesitated, glancing at Sheng Yunyi.
"Hechen, you should go back," Sheng Yunyi said with a smile, "Sheng Huaiqian has been incarcerated; he won’t be able to hurt me."
Zhou Hechen was indeed in a rush, nodded to her, and quickly left.
Sheng Yunyi turned around, her smile vanishing instantaneously.
She started walking up the steps with her bag, only to hear a commotion inside the estate. Gardeners and cooks were bustling in and out with large and small bags.
There was a loud "bang" as something was thrown out.
Sheng Yunyi stepped back just in time to avoid being hit.
Still shaken, once she collected herself, she realized that the object in front of her was a box from her room.
Why were her belongings being thrown out?
Who dared treat her this way?
Alarm bells went off in Sheng Yunyi’s heart.
At that moment, Steward Sheng came out, directing the other servants.
"Uncle Steward, what’s happened?" Sheng Yunyi maintained a smile on her face, but her nails were digging into her palm.
Steward Sheng looked up at her, his expression a blend of a smile and not, "Miss Yunyi, don’t you know?"
