Chapter 39: She Finally Revealed The Truth.
Chapter 39: Chapter 39: She Finally Revealed The Truth.
"Do you really mean what you said? This is not a joke, right?" Li Qiang was beaming as he looked at her, the light in his eyes not dimming.
"When have I ever told a lie?" She laughed as she gazed at him. For some reason, she felt compelled to reveal the truth to him.
That might help him understand why she wanted vengeance.
"Li Qiang, I have to tell you something," she said, interrupting his celebration.
"What exactly is that?" He asked with a serious expression. He assumed she was about to reveal a big secret to him based on the serious expression in her eyes.
"Promise you will not shout or be surprised, and you will keep this a secret; I am telling you because I believe you can be trusted," she said, playing with her hair.
She was obviously nervous. She was not lying when she said she trusted him, but she was worried he would think she was crazy.
"I will listen to everything you say; just say it," he declared solemnly.
"Let us talk in the room, shall we?" They could not talk in the living room because otherwise her secret would be revealed.
It was preferable to speak in the room. She was also confident in the room’s soundproofing, which would keep them safe.
They walked into the room, and once they were both seated on the sofa, Xin Yan admitted.
"The thing is, I have died before," she said, lowering her head to deliver the shocking news.
His brows furrowed in surprise as he stared at her speechlessly. He remained silent because he was tongue-tied.
She did not say anything, giving him plenty of time to register his shock. She knew that, despite his lack of words, he found it difficult to process.
She only continued when she saw that he had regained his composure; however, he still stared at her with a puzzled expression.
"In my previous life, we never met, I was deeply in love with Yuan Renshu, I considered Jiang Lanfen my sister, and I even severed all ties with my family because I believed they did not have my best interests at heart," she paused, her eyes welling with tears.
She found it excruciating to recall those heinous events.
"I foolishly signed over my grandparents’ company to him because they had given me complete control over it; was not I stupid?" She gave a mocking chuckle.
Li Qiang’s expression softened. He could not imagine what she would been through.
"I was killed when I was thirty-three years old, and I was thrown off the top building of my own company," she recounted her entire ordeal on that fateful day.
"It was torture, I never thought I would be able to come back, but I guess God smiled on me and decided I deserved a second chance, which is why I am here now," she said, already crying by the end of her narration.
Li Qiang held her but said nothing, nor did he comfort her. He knew she had to let go of all of her negative emotions or they would haunt her. He only needed to offer her a shoulder to lean on.
She cried for twenty minutes before returning to her normal state.
"I am sorry for crying in this way," she sniffed as she moved away from his body.
"You do not have to apologize; I should be the one apologizing; I had no idea what you would been through, and yet I claim to love you; how foolish of me," he berated himself harshly, which Xin Yan did not want to see.
"I did not tell you just to make you feel bad; I just want you to understand why I despise and want revenge; I do not want to be labeled as an irrational person," her voice sounded nasally because she had just cried.
"I will never consider you irrational, and even if I did not know the reason for your decision, I would still wholeheartedly support you," he said earnestly, and she chuckled.
She was certain that he would do so. He loved her so much, and she could feel it in her heart; he was gradually taking up a place in it.
"You should rest; I still have work to do," he told her.
At the end of the day, she squinted at him and said nothing.
She walked obediently into the bathroom, and he only left for the study after he was certain she had entered.
As he approached his study, his eyes became cold. He was going to punish everyone who had made her cry, beginning with that butler.
But first he needed to conduct a thorough investigation. They were all connected: Jiang Lanfen, Yuan Renshu, Jiang Zhengzhou, and Butler Yu.
He knew that if he asked Butler Yu for information, he would not get it. Jiang Zhengzhou had complete control over his family’s lives, so he would not dare to oppose him.
He gave a grim expression. If he could just find Butler Yu’s family and save them, he might be able to learn something.
He had decided to assist Xin Yan with her revenge, and he was going to do so wholeheartedly.
He dialed a number unexpectedly, and it was picked up within seconds.
"Find out about Jiang Zhengzhou, Jiang Lanfen, and Yuan Renshu; I need all of their information; nothing should be missing," he instructed, and the person on the other end acknowledged it.
’Wait and see; you will all pay for hurting Xin Yan,’ Li Qiang promised.
Xin Yi’s residence.
A lot had happened in the last few days for these two, including their unexpected wedding. Except for the Chengs, who had thrown a tantrum and refused to marry her, no one knew.
That is, until Xin Yi silenced them with ’incriminating’ evidence.
Flashback
Cheng Luiying was unwilling to return to her family’s house, but Xin Yi eventually dragged her there.
"I do not think you should be concerned about going into your own home," he told her as he drove to the Chengs’ home.
