Chapter 126: Don’t do anything foolish Uncle Carlos has only one son

"Whew!!"

The moment Ramsey stepped out of the CEO’s office, he slumped against the wall, gulping down deep breaths of fresh air.

Only when the chill from his back seeped in did he realize his shirt was completely drenched in cold sweat.

A department manager delivering reports happened to see Ramsey’s shell-shocked expression and immediately tensed up.

"Assistant Ramsey, is President Luther in such a bad mood that even you couldn’t handle it?!"

Ramsey didn’t know how to respond, so he simply nodded.

"Uh, Assistant Ramsey," the manager stammered, his face paling.

"I just remembered—there are still some parts of the report that need polishing. I’ll go back and revise them right away.

Pretend you never saw me, and I’ll treat you to tea sometime."

Before Ramsey could reply, the manager practically sprinted away.

For someone nearing retirement, his agility and speed were downright impressive.

Ramsey’s lips twitched in a humorless smirk. But he understood.

After all, President Luther’s temper was truly terrifying.

"Bring him in," After taking a moment to compose himself, Ramsey picked up his phone.

"Also, secure the elevator exits.

Don’t let anyone get near this area."

Meanwhile. News of Sinclair’s foul mood had already spread like wildfire through the entire Luther Corporation.

The vast office building fell into a Scary silence.

"Dr. Alex," Ramsey said with a respectful nod as he escorted a silver-haired elderly man to the door of the CEO’s office.

"Mr. Luther is inside."

"Ramsey, give it to me straight," Dr. Alex hesitated, his hand hovering over the door handle.

"What exactly does the boss want from me?"

Once the personal physician of Grandpa Luther, Dr. Alex had briefly treated Sinclair’s condition in the past, though he’d never found a permanent solution.

After retiring with a generous pension from the Luther Family, he had returned to Maryland to enjoy his golden years in peace.

Yet here he was, abruptly summoned back—and by none other than the man behind that door.

Anxiety churned in the pit of his stomach.

But Dr. Alex had no idea that Ramsey standing before him was even more uneasy.

He had no clue about the symptoms of the poison and wasn’t sure if it would be detected.

If it were discovered, the truth about the life-linked poison would be completely exposed.

A storm of emotions swirled in Ramsey’s eyes as he suppressed his anxiety and spoke in a low, steady voice.

"President Luther didn’t give any instructions. You’ll understand once you go in."

Hearing this, Dr. Alex asked no further questions.

He took a deep breath, pushed the door open, and stepped inside.

The moment the door closed, Ramsey immediately ordered someone to guard the entrance before striding swiftly back to his office.

Using a deliberately obtained untraceable number, he dialed Camilla’s phone.

There was no way to hide the fact that Micheal was still alive from President Luther.

The only solution now was to seek the madam’s guidance as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, in the basement.

"Still not talking?"

Camilla gazed at the bloodied Uncle Joe before her, her delicate lips curling slightly, but her eyes were icy cold.

"No matter.

I have all the time in the world."

She held a dagger over the flames, the flickering firelight casting shifting shadows across her beautiful face, accentuating an indescribable chill in the air.

"Before you give me anything useful, I guarantee you won’t die no matter what torture you endure—just like Michael."

Though Michael might not have confided everything to this man, his constant presence by Michael’s side meant he must know something.

"You... you’re as cold-blooded and cruel as Sinclair..."

A shudder ran deep through Uncle Joe’s soul.

Even the slightest movement sent fresh waves of agony through his already battered body.

"Cruel?"

Camilla pulled the dagger away from the flames and pressed it against Uncle Joe’s arm.

"Sinclair and I could never compare to you.

At the very least, we don’t go out of our way to harm others, do we?"

Sssss—!

The red-hot blade seared against a wound on Uncle Joe’s abdomen, sending up a wisp of acrid smoke.

The stench of scorched flesh filled the air.

"AAAHHH—!!"

Uncle Joe’s body convulsed under the torment, his screams raw and piercing.

Then his eyes rolled back, and he passed out once more. Camilla watched in silence, her pupils utterly still.

The mere thought of the Twin-Life poison’s venom made her wish she could tear him and Michael limb from limb.

These punishments merely scratched the surface, doing nothing to alleviate even a tenth of the resentment festering in her heart.

"Ring—"

"Ring—"

The sudden chime of her phone interrupted Camilla mid-action.

She glanced at the unfamiliar number flashing on the screen, her delicate brows knitting slightly.

"Madam, it’s Ramsey."

"What is it?"

Noticing the urgency in Ramsey’s tone, Camilla instantly pieced together the situation.

"Has... Sinclair discovered something?"

Before he could even speak, she had already guessed?!

Ramsey froze.

For a moment, he felt like nothing more than collateral damage caught between two brilliant minds.

—— Meanwhile, in an underground parking garage somewhere in San Francisco.

A man clutched a file folder in his hand, his lips curling into a venomous smirk.

"Camilla, let’s see how you stop me this time."

The mission parameters had changed.

Now, all he needed to do was find a way to get Tiffany out of the hospital and deliver her to a predetermined location.

Once that was done, he’d receive the remaining payment as agreed.

Arlo tugged the brim of his black baseball cap lower and adjusted the black mask over his face.

But first, he had to make sure Tiffany signed that high-value accident insurance policy.

That way, no matter what happened to her in the hands of those people, it would only work in his favor.

A sinister glint flickered in Arlo’s eyes as he tucked the file folder into his jacket, stepped out of the car, and shut the door behind him.

*You brought this on yourself, Tiffany. Don’t blame me.*

As for that meddlesome woman Camilla—he’d settle the score with her later when the opportunity arose.

Unbeknownst to Arlo, several pairs of eyes from a distant car were tracking his every move. *

Sinclair is investigating my whereabouts?* *And he hired a doctor to examine himself?* Camilla frowned.

There was no way Sinclair could know about the Life-Linked poison.

The sudden request for Ramsey to have a doctor examine his condition could only mean one thing.

—Last night, when she was checking his pulse, Sinclair must have sensed something.

She sighed inwardly.

Indeed, a sleeping lion is still a lion—never truly letting its guard down.

"Madam," Ramsey’s voice grew tense as he noticed Camilla’s prolonged silence.

"Dr. Alex is a titan in the field of traditional medicine.

Surely he won’t... notice anything, right?"

Just as Madam had said, President Luther was an exceedingly proud man.

If he were to discover that his life was tied to someone as despicable as Micheal, his fury might drive him to do something irreversible.

That was Ramsey’s greatest fear at the moment.

"Not a chance," Camilla’s tone was firm.

"As long as Micheal is alive, the poison worm inside Sinclair will remain dormant." Her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, her voice icy and resolute.

"From a purely medical standpoint, there’s no way anything unusual could be detected.

You have nothing to worry about."

"That’s a relief," Ramsey’s barely settled nerves tensed up again as another thought struck him.

"But about Michael... If Mr. Sinclair asks again, I don’t think I’ll have the courage to keep hiding it."

His voice dropped to a somber murmur as he sighed heavily.

"Madam, maybe I should just knock myself out?

If I’m unconscious, surely Mr. Sinclair wouldn’t wake me up just to keep interrogating me, right?"

Facing Mr. Sinclair’s relentless questioning was worse than enduring physical pain.

Despite her own gloom and frustration, a faint, involuntary smile tugged at the corner of Camilla’s lips.

"Without proper technique and control, I wouldn’t recommend that approach.

Uncle Carlos only has one son, after all."

Her gaze lingered on the bloodied figure of Uncle Joe, her beautiful eyes narrowing slightly.

"As for Michael... since Sinclair is already suspicious, there’s no point hiding it anymore."

She had always known this secret wouldn’t stay buried forever—she just hadn’t expected Sinclair to catch on so quickly.

He was far sharper than she’d anticipated.

No wonder the Luther Family had risen to such heights.

"W-wait, we’re not hiding it anymore?" Ramsey stiffened in shock.

Telling Mr. Sinclair about Michael would mean revealing the Lifebound poison too—wasn’t that playing with fire?

What if President Luther issued an ultimatum, ordering him to dispose of Michael?

What should he do then?

"Fine, no more hiding.

But we’ll phrase it differently," Camilla’s voice was calm, her beautiful eyes glinting with a frosty edge.

"Just tell Sinclair that I didn’t want Michael to die so easily—that’s why I suddenly had him transferred and forced you to keep silent."

"No way," Ramsey frowned deeply.

"That’s practically shifting all the blame onto you.

If President Luther gets angry, you—" "Leave out the part about the life-bound poison.

The rest is the truth," Camilla cut him off. "Besides, this is the only version he’ll believe."

Her tone was detached, yet brooked no argument.

"The rest, I’ll explain to him in person." Ramsey couldn’t think of a better alternative.

"...Understood." Hanging up, Camilla stepped out of the basement and issued a cold command.

"Collect a blood sample from this man and check if he has any living relatives."

Her voice dropped to a whisper, her eyes glinting with icy determination.

"If there are, bring them here immediately."

Everyone has their weaknesses.

Micheal might be important to him.

But never more important than his own flesh and blood.
