Rebirth: Revenge of the abandoned heirress
Chapter 100: Stalking President Crowne

Chapter 100: Stalking President Crowne

Jazmine Harrison didn’t know what to do with this man. She just... didn’t know. She sighed in resignation. She knew he wanted a reaction out of her. Too bad. She wouldn’t give him that satisfaction. So she continued to eat obediently, acting like he hadn’t said that.

"You’re traveling to Beijing today?" Sebastian Crowne asked, his voice sounding pensive.

"Yes. I’ve got a flight in the afternoon." Suddenly, Jazmine was reminded of something. She looked sad as she glanced at Sebastian. "From now on, you won’t be able to accompany me." His corporation was too big—it surely required his presence.

"Even if you travel to Hell, I’ll accompany you. What is this Beijing?"

Jazmine laughed. "You’ve got a company to look after. Will you abandon your empire for a woman?"

"I can abandon my life for you." Sebastian was all lovey-dovey as he looked at her with deep eyes.

Jazmine sighed. He was so helpless. "Are you going to accompany me then?" The thought of it made her heart light with happiness.

"I promised you that I’d never leave your side again. I’m going to keep that promise." The passionate look in his eyes never left. "Besides, after you transferred the real estate to my name, I’ll have to go look into it. It’s definitely a huge project that requires my presence."

Jazmine looked at him with questioning eyes. "How did you know? You didn’t even read the papers I brought today!"

Sebastian leaned in and said in a light voice, "I know everything you do, Jazzy. I know you more than you know yourself."

"You stalked me!" How could she be so dumb? He had signed the papers so easily because he already knew what she was going to propose. There was no doubt he had traced her every activity before she even remembered who he was.

Sebastian raised his hands in apology. "Hey. At least I meant no ill."

"If you say so, then mind telling me what this other group from Hong Kong was doing, trying to hack into my accounts?" Jazmine still remembered what Lucian Smith had told her that day. Two groups from Hong Kong—one meant her harm, the other protected her. Jazmine knew the one who protected her was surely under Sebastian. But the one that meant her harm... she didn’t know which enemy she had in Hong Kong.

Sebastian was momentarily stunned, as if not expecting her to have discovered that. "You know... as time passes, I’m finding myself liking you more and more."

She had grown so smart since last time. Back then, she was naïve. Strong, yet naïve. But now she was a totally different woman. So sharp and feisty.

"Don’t try to avoid my question." Jazmine wouldn’t let him off.

"I’m not trying to avoid your question. It’s just... I told you. There might be some people who want to separate us. They want to harm you, and I must keep you safe. At that time, it was indeed me who ordered it. But not to hack into your accounts or track your activities—only to strengthen your firewall."

Jazmine leaned back. "Are these the same people who are responsible for making me forget you?" she asked quietly. There was something akin to anger in her eyes. "The ones who are the reason behind all the suffering we had to endure."

Though Sebastian didn’t say anything, Jazmine knew it was them.

"Why don’t you just tell me?" She studied his expression. He looked conflicted. "Do you not trust me? I said I trust you. If you don’t want to tell me, I understand. There must be a reason. But I see this conflict in you every time the topic is brought up. You want to tell me, but you don’t. What is it that’s bothering you? Just tell me. Are you afraid I’ll be hurt? I’m stronger than before. I trust you. I also want you to trust me a little."

"I trust you, Jazzy. I trust you more than anyone. It’s just... I don’t think the time is right. I think we should wait a little first."

It wasn’t exactly that. Scared she might refuse him later, he wanted to marry her before he told her. Sebastian sighed helplessly. He didn’t know what to say. He knew he must tell her first. Keeping her in the dark... what he was doing was wrong.

"You’re right. I want to tell you. But I’m scared. That you might not forgive me.

"He looked into her eyes, trying to sort out her feelings. Would she blame him? That night, it was his Jazzy who was supposed to die. She had asked Sebastian to save Sarah. But he declined. He wouldn’t let go of her. In the end, it was Sarah who paid. But until now, Jazmine didn’t even recall anything. She didn’t even know who Sarah was.

"Did you do something wrong?" he heard her say. "Were your intentions ever wrong toward me?"

"I never had the wrong intentions toward you. I just never wanted to hurt you..."

"Then it’s okay." Jazmine smiled. "Even if you made a mistake, as long as it wasn’t intentional and you were true to me, it’s fine."Jazmine laughed. "Even if you ever did something bad to me, I’d find it difficult—near impossible—to get angry at you."

Her words made Sebastian smile. But he knew... once she remembered everything, she would be hurt.

Sarah hadn’t died, but she was severely injured. Her wrist bones had been crushed and broken. Although Sebastian did all he could to get her treated, in the end, her hands couldn’t return to the way they once were.

Sarah was a pianist. Playing the piano was her passion and profession. She had been the one to teach Jazmine Harrison how to play. She had great dreams. But once her hands were injured, she couldn’t play as she did before. She was lost, broken. And the one who caused all of this... Sebastian couldn’t do anything about him.

Her brother—Dorian Blackwood.
