Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord
Chapter 767 - Chapter 767 Chapter 767 Entering the Palace

Chapter 767: Chapter 767: Entering the Palace Chapter 767: Chapter 767: Entering the Palace Situ Yongjie, though discontent with his second daughter’s recent behavior,

still couldn’t bear to see her fall to the ground; after all, she was his dear daughter.

And how could he easily let go of a daughter he had dearly loved for over a decade?

Frowning and speaking in displeasure, Yongjie said, “You too, if you wanted to attend the Empress Dowager’s birthday banquet, why didn’t you notify me in advance?”

Qinger was taken aback and thought to herself, Could it be that Mother didn’t mention this to Father? Then she said, “Father, is it still possible for your daughter to enter the Imperial Palace now?”

“As a court official, I know many people, and since the War Prince is my direct superior, it shouldn’t be a problem to notify him of such a trivial matter as attending a banquet at the palace,” Yongjie remarked casually.

Upon hearing this, Qinger nearly choked on her blood. After all the hustle and bustle with her mother, and even poisoning Madam Xie–only to find out that, in the end, Mother nearly poisoned her to death too.

It turned out that all of this could have been settled easily with just a word from Yongjie.

Xuexue said with a clueless face, “Father, I don’t understand anything and have caused inconvenience to my younger sister.” As she spoke, she mimicked the manner of a young lady of high birth and curtseyed to him.

Since Xuexue was to enter the Imperial Palace, Yongjie had hired a nanny skilled in training palace maids specifically to teach her the palace etiquette.

In her previous life, Xuexue had learned all these etiquettes so well they were etched in her memory.

Nevertheless, since Yongjie had taken the trouble to bring the Nanny over, Xuexue humored her and went through the motions of practicing all over again.

She did this to prepare a defense for future disputes–it would be quite troublesome if the fact that she, a rustic girl who had not even been to the Capital, knew palace etiquette were leveraged deliberately by others with ulterior motives.

After all, people of the current era were rather superstitious.

After a moment of contemplation, Yongjie said, “Xuexue, you’ve just returned to the General’s Mansion and don’t understand anything; it’s not your fault. Here’s what we’ll do: You take your sister to the Imperial Palace first, and I will ride swiftly to the War Prince’s Mansion to get a pass from the Prince. Then, I will catch up with you on horseback. How does that sound?”

“Yes,” Xuexue reluctantly agreed.

It seemed that even after rebirth, some things were still beyond her control.

Well, let it be. For better or worse, she would leave it to fate.

Once Qinger heard that she, too, could enter the Imperial Palace, she was so happy that she almost jumped with joy.

“Thank you, Father.”

“Hmm! Once inside the palace, you must follow everything your elder sister arranges,” Yongjie instructed.

“I understand, Father. There are many nobles in the palace, and I definitely won’t let you down, nor will I dishonor our General’s Mansion,” Qinger said, reverting to her usual sweet demeanor.

“Go now.”

“Yes!”

Finally, Xuexue also took her leave from Yongjie and, with Qinger, headed toward the main gate.

At the gate, a horse-drawn carriage had already been prepared.

Since security was strict within the Imperial Palace and bringing numerous attendants was not allowed, Xuexue only brought Zi Xia, her personal maid, with her.

Qinger, however, was different; she was followed by four or five maids.

Before getting onto the carriage, Xuexue turned to Qinger and said, “Because I didn’t know you were also going to the palace, we only prepared one carriage. If you want to go, you can only go alone without your maids.”

Qinger was flabbergasted, having not anticipated this complication.

“Elder sister, I’m not accustomed to being without maids to serve me. What should I do?”

Xuexue climbed into the carriage, with Zi Xia following suit and sitting beside her.

As gifts for the Empress Dowager’s birthday were also placed inside for the banquet, there was no spare room left in the carriage.
