Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord
Chapter 631 - Chapter 631 Chapter 631 Gifts

Chapter 631: Chapter 631 Gifts Chapter 631: Chapter 631 Gifts Situ Yongjie had been staying in Mo Family Village for some days, and the buzz was extraordinary all around the neighborhood; every day, there were village heads, accompanied by village representatives or Elders, arriving with gifts of all shapes and sizes.

In front of the Xie Residence, it was bustling every day with a constant stream of carriages and horses, but Situ Yongjie paid no attention, hiding inside every day, playing chess and drinking tea with the county magistrate, enjoying a carefree and jubilant life.

The village head was running back and forth tending to the two of them.

Madam Xie, meanwhile, was incessantly busy in front of the gate, getting her hands cramped from accepting so many gifts every day.

One day, after Xuexue had taken care of business in town and just returned, she saw a large crowd surrounding Madam Xie, presenting gifts. There were so many gifts that they nearly buried Madam Xie, leaving only her head exposed, yet she still maintained an amiable demeanor, smiling and dealing with the people.

The sight immediately infuriated Xuexue. When would her foster mother’s excessively kind nature change? If she went to the Capital, how would she cope if she got bullied?

“Hey, hey, hey! What are you doing? Can’t you see my mother is nearly being crushed by your gifts? Move aside quickly, go about your business, and stop causing trouble at our house.”

“Eldest Miss, we’re not causing any trouble. We’re here to present gifts to the General!” Ever since Xuexue’s identity was revealed, knowing that she was the Eldest Legitimate Daughter of the General’s Mansion, everyone respectfully addressed her as Eldest Miss.

“Alright, alright, my father is aware of your kind intentions. Everyday life isn’t easy for you either, so please take your things and go home,” Xuexue said, waving her hand impatiently.

It was only then that everyone reluctantly left the entrance of the Xie Residence.

Xuexue pulled Madam Xie out from among the gifts: “Mother, can’t you refuse when people bring gifts?”

Madam Xie looked innocent: “I refuse every day, but they still insist on bringing them. Look at our house, filled with so many gifts. We can’t possibly eat or use them all. What are we to do?”

Madam Xie was almost driven to despair over this matter. Before she worried about not having enough food, and now, living a better life, she was troubled by having too much to eat and spend. What kind of problem was this?

Xuexue thought for a moment and felt that it was true; most of the gifts brought by everyone were food, which would spoil if left too long, and it would be a waste to throw them away.

“Go and tell the villagers to come to our house to collect gifts. Just say that my father is giving them to everyone,” Xuexue suggested with a plan to “honor the Buddha with borrowed flowers.” It would not only earn her biological father a good reputation but also deal with those gifts–an excellent solution!

Madam Xie had an epiphany: “Right! How did I not think of that?”

Under Xuexue’s insistence, Madam Xie had stopped calling her Eldest Miss and returned to calling her Xuexue.

Xuexue was compassionate and righteous, filling Madam Xie’s heart with gratitude. She was reassured that her love for her daughter was not in vain.

The villagers, hearing that the General was giving out gifts, were all very excited and came running to the entrance of the Xie Residence to queue for the gifts.

What seemed like a lot of gifts initially ran out halfway through distribution.

No wonder, since there were several hundred households in Mo Family Village, there couldn’t possibly be enough gifts for everyone.

Those who didn’t receive a gift didn’t dare say anything but looked somewhat disheartened.

Considering that she would be returning to the Capital in a few days anyway, Xuexue decided to let everyone have a bit of fun. She climbed onto a stool and, standing above the crowd, loudly said to the villagers: “My fellow villagers, I will be returning to the Capital with my father in a few days. My mother and Chuner will stay in Mo Family Village for the time being. After I settle down in the Capital, I will come back to fetch them. In the meantime, I am relying on all of you to look after them.”
