Once the matter appeared settled, the village head stood up and instructed, “Alright! Since it’s decided, then tomorrow morning, bring the tiger and wait for me under the elm tree at the village entrance. We’ll go to the County Yamen together to claim the reward.”

The village head, considering that Madam Xie’s family’s living conditions were getting better and a wild rabbit wasn’t a significant item for them, took it and reminded her once more to have Xuexue and Big Bull come a bit earlier tomorrow. Madam Xie agreed and watched the village head leave until he was out of sight, then she returned to the yard.

When they had all left, Big Bull carried the tiger back inside the house to prepare for tomorrow’s trip to the County Yamen to claim the reward.

Madam Xie was in the yard plucking rabbit fur. Seeing them come out, she looked up and said, “The village head told you to go to the village entrance a bit earlier tomorrow.”
