Whenever Old Lady Mo thought about the incident of Xuexue taking a bag of pure white rice from her, her heart would still ache.

To her dismay, Xuexue replied coldly, “No.”

Old Lady Mo was completely dumbfounded, “You shameless girl, how can you lie without blushing?”

Xuexue thought to herself, she had fought to get those grains back by her own efforts; when had Old Lady Mo ever given her a single grain of rice?

Realizing that it was already noon, the mason masters needed to hurry and eat and take a rest, or they would delay the afternoon’s work.

“Alright, since you are Xuexue’s real grandmother, please step aside and don’t hold up the masters from eating. They’ve been doing hard labor all morning and are already exhausted. Don’t make a mess here,” Big Bull said, as he pulled her up from the stool without any reservation.

“But, I… I…!”

Old Lady Mo’s eyes were glued to the steaming dish of pork on the table, and it pained her to see it moving farther away.

Seeing her drooling with longing, everyone knew she wanted some meat.

“Auntie Li, scoop her a bowl of rice and give her some vegetables; let her squat on the side and eat,” Big Bull said, turning his head to a woman cooking nearby.

The woman, reluctantly, replied, “Okay.”

Old Lady Mo’s eyes lit up immediately when she heard Big Bull, and her mouth cracked into a smile.

However, before she could revel in her joy, she heard Xuexue say coldly, “Grandmother, we don’t even have enough rice for everyone; better you go home and eat.”

Old Lady Mo’s smile froze.

The woman, holding a large spoon, wasn’t sure whether to scoop the meat for Old Lady Mo.

Xuexue took the spoon from her hand, placed it on the table, and told the woman, “Auntie, you guys go ahead and eat, and pay her no mind; there’s still a lot of work to do in a while.”

The woman, who also disliked Old Lady Mo, was glad to hear Xuexue’s words and nodded repeatedly, “Yes, yes.”

The duck at her lips flew away!

Old Lady Mo was almost mad with rage, pointing at Xuexue, “You… you unfilial girl, how can you be so disrespectful? I’m your grandmother, what’s wrong with me eating a piece of your meat?”

Old Lady Mo, turning to the working villagers, challenged, “You don’t hurt to see them eat, but it pains you if I do?”

Xuexue nodded and said, “Exactly, I wouldn’t hurt giving it to a dog, but giving it to you, that pains me.”

Old Lady Mo was so angry she wanted to hit Xuexue, but with Big Bull watching menacingly beside her, she didn’t dare. In the end, she could only walk away, dejected.
