Chapter 1118: Assassin

Chapter 1118: Chapter 1118: Assassin

Xuexue felt a pang of guilt but certainly understood the implication of the remark, so she deliberately sneered, "Can’t handle your business? Now you’re blaming Xi Qi."

The dwarf exploded with rage upon hearing this, convinced that Xuexue was mocking his decline in martial arts, labeling him as worthless: "You damned girl! If it weren’t for your trickery, my martial arts wouldn’t have deteriorated so much. Hand over your life!"

With that, his small figure lunged wildly at Xuexue...

Xuexue relaxed upon hearing his words.

So, the dwarf had suffered a crippling blow last time, when his tendons were severed, leading to his martial power being compromised. No wonder his movements had slowed so considerably.

As the dwarf charged at her, Xuexue suddenly sidestepped...

"Bang...!"

The dwarf gathered all his strength and surged forward...

But Xuexue had dodged, leaving his hurried steps unable to stop in time. He crashed with a loud thud into the edge of a nearby bed, creating a gaping wound on his forehead, from which bright, warm blood gushed uncontrollably...

The dwarf reeled from the impact, seeing stars before his eyes. Straining to stand up, he felt a burning wetness dripping down his forehead. Reaching to wipe at it, the thick scent of blood filled his nostrils. Immediately, he erupted in fury: "You damned girl! You actually made me bleed?"

"That’s your own stupidity. You’re the one looking for death. What does it have to do with me?" Xuexue stood casually to the side, her expression impossibly relaxed.

In his past life, this dwarf was a martial arts master, favored by the Fourth Prince, helping him commit countless vile deeds. Now, because of the crippling blow last time that severed his martial arts and damaged his body, his martial skills had sharply declined. He was no longer daunting.

Months had passed, and now Xuexue’s martial arts had grown exponentially, startling and terrifying the dwarf.

Xuexue’s evasive maneuvers were simply too swift.

This gave the dwarf an illusion—that Xuexue’s martial power had surged, and he was no longer her match.

After failing in two successive attacks, the dwarf dared not act rashly again, but he was enraged by Xuexue’s sharp tongue: "You... you...!"

"What? Spit it out?"

"You damned girl...!"

"Can’t you come up with something new? This is getting old!"

Knowing the dwarf’s martial prowess was far inferior now, Xuexue wasn’t scared of him in the slightest. Standing in the dimly lit room with her arms crossed, she showed her disdain without bothering to conceal it.

Last time, even severing both his hand and foot tendons hadn’t been enough to kill this dwarf.

In the past, Xuexue was tormented by the dwarf to the point of wishing for death. This time, she had no intention of letting him off easily.

The dwarf now harbored a fear of Xuexue and was wary about approaching her too recklessly.

Xuexue, however, cared little for his hesitation. She drew a golden hairpin from her hair and viciously stabbed it toward the dwarf.

The dwarf twisted aside, narrowly dodging the attack.

Soon, the two were entangled in a fierce skirmish.

Back and forth they went, exchanging blows, quickly escalating to more than a dozen rounds.

The dwarf, having had his martial arts wrecked last time with his tendons severely injured, had been treated by his Master but was still far from fully recovered. His martial power had dropped by half, leaving his resentment of Xuexue bitter enough to grind his teeth.

Yet, his limited abilities meant that, no matter how deep his hatred ran, he couldn’t change the outcome. Gradually, exhaustion began to overtake him.

Xuexue spotted an opening. With precision, she drove the golden hairpin in her hand toward the dwarf’s heart, intending to end his life in one swift strike.

In the darkness, a cold gleam, tinged faintly blue, stabbed toward his heart. The dwarf’s eyes widened in horror.

At the last moment, he rolled onto the ground, narrowly escaping the fatal blow.

However, the golden hairpin embedded itself deep into his shoulder, sending him into excruciating pain that caused him to grimace and contort. Yet, his rationality warned against letting loose a scream, as they were within the walls of the General’s Mansion. If the guards patrolling at night were alerted, it could spell trouble. And so, despite the agony, he bit down hard, to the point where his lips nearly bled, suppressing himself: "Mmph...!"
