Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord
Chapter 1108: Did Mr. Zhang Escape?

Chapter 1108: Chapter 1108: Did Mr. Zhang Escape?

After the two finished their moment of passion, the bed lay in disarray.

"Prime Minister."

Third Auntie lay naked, curled in the arm of the Prime Minister, her cheeks flushed red.

"Hmm?"

"Mr. Zhang, he..."

"What about him?"

"Did he escape?"

"Yes! That damn Zhang San! He fled, and on top of that, he took the dwarf with him. That dwarf is my sworn enemy." Thinking of this, the Prime Minister grew infuriated. If not for Third Auntie’s sake, he would’ve killed him long ago. Keeping him alive until now had turned out to be a mistake.

"Prime Minister."

Third Auntie struggled out of the Prime Minister’s embrace, propping herself halfway up as she asked, "When you capture him, Prime Minister, can you spare his life?"

"Why? You severed ties with him over ten years ago, yet you still think of him now?"

"No matter what, we were once husband and wife. Even if for just one night, that bond endures a hundred days. Besides, we have a son together." Speaking of their son, Third Auntie grew sorrowful. "It’s my fault—because of me, our son lost his life."

"That was a cursed child; keeping him would’ve been a calamity too."

"That may be your view, but to me, he was my flesh and blood."

"Keeping him would’ve meant no peace for us."

"For all these years, every night in my dreams, I see my son standing at my bedside, his body drenched in blood, crying out in pain. Do you know how much agony that causes me? It feels as though someone is gouging out my heart. You killed him, Prime Minister—it’s like tearing my flesh from me."

"Enough!"

The Prime Minister, his face marked with irritation, sat up from the bed, the tenderness he had shown moments earlier now transformed into fury.

"He’s been dead for over a decade! Why bring him up again? Or do you wish to drown yourself in memories forever?"

Third Auntie lifted her arm to wipe away the tears at the corner of her eyes: "Fine. The dead cannot come back to life—that matter is settled. But Mr. Zhang—we’ve wronged him enough already. You must not harm him further."

"’Mr. Zhang,’ over and over again! Where do you place my dignity? Understand this—right now, I am your rightful husband." The Prime Minister huffed, his beard trembling with frustration.

Third Auntie, seeing his wrath, dared not utter another word. Though the Prime Minister outwardly treated her with indulgence, within, he was cold and ruthless. If she pushed him too far, Zhang San might truly lose his life.

"What a buzzkill."

The Prime Minister climbed out of bed, threw on his robes, and left furiously.

What little warmth he had just gained, believing Third Auntie’s heart might have turned to him, proved misplaced. In the end, she was merely pleading for Zhang San’s sake. How could he bear to stay?

"Prime Minister!"

Third Auntie, naked and clutching a quilt to cover her front, barefoot, chased him to the door. But reason took hold of her at the threshold—she could only stand there blankly, watching the Prime Minister’s figure grow more distant.

"Third Auntie, hurry back inside. The wind is strong outside." Her personal maid pulled her into the room and helped dress her.

She sat before her vanity, her expression wooden, allowing the maid to tend to her hair and attire.

"Third Auntie, why put yourself through this?" The maid muttered as she combed her hair: "Among all the concubines, the Prime Minister treats you the best. Why anger him like this?"

"You don’t understand."

"What’s there not to understand? A woman belongs to her husband. She should serve him well and make him happy. How could you be like this, pushing your husband away?"

"Enough! Leave me be—I need some quiet." Third Auntie spoke irritably.

These servants could never comprehend the tangled fate between her and the Prime Minister. If their scandal were ever exposed, they would be condemned by all.
