Chapter 1003: Chapter 1003: Ever-Victorious Gambling House
Meanwhile, Xuexue on the bed remained blissfully unaware of it all, fast asleep and snoring loudly.
Shortly after, in front of the liveliest gambling house in Changan City, stood two children, both around four or five years old, a boy and a girl. The boy was handsome while the girl was adorably dazed and cute.
They were gazing up at a couplet by the entrance of the gambling house, discussing it among themselves as if no one else were around...
Upper Couplet: A man who doesn’t encounter unexpected wealth does not get rich.
Lower Couplet: A horse not fed at night does not get fat.
Horizontal Scroll: Getting rich overnight.
"Hey! Little Tiger, what does this couplet mean? What’s this about a man not getting rich without unexpected wealth and a horse not getting fat without night grass?"
"It means that you should go inside and play to your heart’s content, and you will get rich."
"Oh!"
"Then let’s hurry in and get rich ourselves."
"Right! That’s exactly why we’re here."
With that, Little Baby pushed the little girl forward, the two of them making their way to the gambling house in hopes of playing a round.
Several house servants standing guard at the entrance saw the two children attempting to enter and immediately stepped forward to stop them: "Scram, Little Kids, this isn’t a place for you to play. Go find somewhere else to have fun."
"What? Isn’t a gambling house meant for playing?"
Little Baby pulled out two Large Silver Ingots from his embrace, holding them in his hand and intentionally tossing them with force.
Each of these Large Silver Ingots was no less than ten taels, adding up to a total of twenty taels of silver.
Twenty taels of silver might seem small, but for an ordinary family, it’s a fortune they could not earn even if they worked hard all year long.
The house servants couldn’t help but have their eyes light up at the sight, involuntarily tracking the movement of the ingots as they were tossed around.
Greed flickered in their eyes.
Little Baby’s mouth curved into a slight smile. Having lived for a thousand years, it knew full well that Silver was what humans loved most of all.
"What’s the matter? Can we go in now or not?"
"Please, Young Master and Miss, right this way."
The house servants’ previously arrogant demeanor had completely vanished, now humble and respectful as they stared intently at the Large Silver Ingots in Little Baby’s hand.
After all, the Ever-Victorious Gambling House opened its doors for business – welcoming any god of wealth regardless of age!
"Great!" Little Baby grinned adorably, leaning forward as if about to reward them, his small frame tilting.
The house servants were overjoyed, their eyes eagerly fixed...
Just as their hands were about to touch the Silver Ingot.
Who knew, Little Baby would tuck the Large Silver Ingot back into his embrace and then, nonchalantly pulled the little girl beside him, walking together into the gambling house.
The group of house servants behind them were instantly frozen in place.
Their sense of loss was simply beyond words.
Inside the gambling house.
There were about a dozen tables inside, each crowded with people making a racket. There were those shaking dice cups, calling out bets, creating an exceptionally lively scene.
Little Baby, holding onto the little girl, made their way to one of the tables, squeezing through thanks to their petite statures.
A young man, no more than in his early twenties, was holding a dice cup, shaking it vigorously.
At last, he slammed it onto the table with force and shouted with all his might: "Come on, place your bets, it’s gonna be high or low!"
"High high high," some people eagerly bet on high.
"Low low low," others fervently placed their money on low.
All eyes were wild with excitement; these were clearly gamblers who had lost their reason to the frenzy.
"Hey! What do you think, high or low?" Little Baby nudged the little girl beside him and whispered close to her ear.
"Low."
The little girl stated confidently.
Indeed, she was a Ghost, capable of seeing things others couldn’t, her cultivation in the ethereal realm allowing her to even take on human form and move around at night.
