Chapter 1531: Chapter 1503: Uncle’s Height is 2.1 Meters
Whatever was being said Outside, Mrs. Kiara was too busy to care about it.
She only provided creativity for the renovation, leaving the actual implementation to the elder Brother’s team. Since the family’s business involved real estate, construction teams were readily available. However, with Fox Cat Overeas, she couldn’t completely delegate and still needed to occasionally check on the renovation process.
Beyond that, Yuzo Joel did not relax his academic demands on his daughter just because she had won a prize. Kiara, after a period of rest, resumed her coursework and research, continued publishing papers, and had to frequently visit the Laboratory.
Following the international competition, her Workshop had begun to attract attention, and she already had many clients scheduling appointments for her treatment.
Additionally, Wendy had not only started to stand up with support but also appeared to be teething again, making her rather irritable. Often, she would give both her parents a hard time. With a child at this stage, there was a need for increased emotional investment and more quality time. Both Mario Yuno and Kiara took turns to barely keep her calm.
Kiara’s life was packed to the brim, leaving her with hardly any leisure time—she was busy like a spinning top.
Today, Mrs. Kiara was planning to meet Yuzo Joel. It was also time for Flora Jim’s follow-up checkup.
In the past period, Flora Jim had undergone treatment from Yuzo Joel and her condition had stabilized. Not long after Kiara’s competition ended, Flora had been able to return Home for Recovery. If everything looked normal at this follow-up, she could be considered recovered and could resume her normal life.
During this time, Kiara had been so preoccupied with her matters that she hadn’t been available to oversee Flora Jim’s treatment. It was her Dad who had administered the therapy, and Arlong along with Flora Jim’s sister, Yena Jim, had also played a pivotal role in assisting the treatment.
Since today was a crucial checkup, Kiara notified Arlong, planning for the siblings to meet up and visit Flora Jim together. Conveniently, Kiara’s mother had prepared some game meat and invited the two children Home for a meal, so Kiara drove there with her daughter.
Arlong had arrived before Kiara, apparently having been conscripted by Kiara’s mother to help with shopping. Kiara thus happily anticipated a ready-made meal.
In everyone else’s Homes, it’s the daughters who help their mothers with chores. In her Home, it’s reversed. No one dared let Mrs. Kiara into the kitchen, so Kiara chatted with her daughter in the backseat safety seat the entire way.
"So it goes to show, the capable do more work, and sometimes, not knowing how to cook isn’t such a bad thing. When have I ever cooked for a family gathering?"
"Eh..." Wendy cast a scornful look at her Mother, which Kiara noticed in the mirror and took a serious look at her.
"Are your teeth itching and bothering you again?"
"Hehe..." The Little Girl felt embarrassed by your bluster.
"Well, there’s nothing that can be done about teeth—that’s a growth process everyone has to go through. How can growing up always be about tasty food and fun games? It’s bound to come with its fair share of minor troubles."
Wendy indicated she wasn’t buying the sugar-coated chicken soup and also wanted to criticize her Mum. Having grown used to spouting nonsense Outside, now you don’t even spare a little Kid, huh? That’s pretty dismal.
Mother and daughter were chatting—or rather, Kiara was doing all the talking, as Wendy could only utter single words at this point. They quickly arrived in front of Kiara’s mother’s neighborhood.
Across the street, Kiara saw her Brother and Mother.
Kiara’s mother was laden with bags, and Arlong was carrying a bag of rice topped with a bag of flour in one hand and a Bucket of oil in the other—it seemed the mother-son duo had just finished shopping.
Kiara quickly guessed the reason.
The Supermarket was right there. Kiara’s mother, who was accustomed to frugality, wouldn’t let her kids drive over. A big young man like her son wouldn’t find it too hard to carry a few bags of rice.
Kiara laughed, "Look at Granny, this spirit of thrifty housekeeping is something we ought to—"
"Fight! Fight!" Wendy pointed outside the car window excitedly.
"Fight what? Are you feeling a bit too aggressive lately? If your tooth hurts, just bear with it for a—huh?"
Kiara looked ahead and realized it was indeed a fight.
She didn’t know what had happened, but her mother and Arlong, who were walking side by side, were almost at the neighborhood entrance when Arlong suddenly dropped the rice and flour bags and rapidly caught up to two young men from Society and started a scuffle.
Kiara’s mother seemed very surprised, lugging a bunch of stuff over as if she was trying to break up a fight.
Ever since Arlong started working with Mario Yuno, he had undergone a complete transformation. He was no longer an impulsive young man and was very measured in his actions; it was unlikely he would lash out without reason.
Kiara hurriedly drove over, and in less than a minute, Arlong had already floored the guy.
"I’ll teach you to spout nonsense!"
Kiara had just gotten out of the car when she heard Arlong, grabbing someone’s hair and roaring with rage.
"Oh my, Arlong, why are you hitting someone! Can’t we talk this out!" Kiara’s mother didn’t understand what had happened and was still trying to mediate.
Kiara only heard this as she got out of the car.
Arlong, with his back to Kiara, hadn’t seen her coming, and he bellowed at Kiara’s mother.
"Can’t talk it out, he insulted my sister!"
"What?!" Kiara’s mother, a far cry from her earlier peace-making demeanor, darted over and squatted down to ask, "What did you say about my daughter?"
Although she had been walking alongside Arlong, her attention was on the shops along the way, checking out who had discounts on what, so she hadn’t paid attention to the conversation happening ahead.
"I really didn’t say anything about your sister, I was just saying that there’s a woman here who’s been kept by someone..."
The two guys getting beaten were quite innocent, just walking and enjoying their gossip when they were suddenly attacked. Initially, not being the best of folks themselves and seeing Arlong come at them, they wanted to fight back hard, but unexpectedly they encountered a tough opponent and didn’t gain any advantage; instead, they got beaten so badly by Arlong they almost lost control of their bowels.
Hearing their defense, Arlong grew even angrier, his fist swinging as he shouted, "You’re the one who’s been kept!"
The guy, while cradling his head to defend himself, said, "I wasn’t talking about your sister, I was talking about that award-winning doctor, something Qi..."
"That something Qi is my sister! Damn you!" Not listening would’ve been better for Arlong, but hearing it only fueled his fury and he grabbed the guy’s hair and gave him a thorough beating.
Upon hearing this, Kiara’s mother got incensed as well, "Beat him! Aim for his face!"
Her daughter was her pride, and she couldn’t bear to say anything negative herself; how could she let others speak so ill of her?
Kiara just stood by, watching, not intervening until Arlong had almost finished beating the men. Then she walked over.
"What’s going on here?" Kiara asked knowingly.
"Nothing!" Arlong quickly stood up, anxious his sister might hear any rumors.
With his back turned to the two guys he had beaten, he kicked backwards and as they saw this, they hurriedly got up, ignoring the dust on themselves, and ran off quickly.
"I just haven’t practiced in too long, needed to stretch my muscles a bit—sister, where’s Wendy?"
Kiara pointed to the car, and afraid to face Kiara, Arlong went over to pick up Wendy. As he opened the car door, he was met with Wendy’s warm welcome.
"Uncle~"
Arlong was pleasantly surprised. What was going on? The little girl was usually affectionate with him, but it seemed it was rarely this enthusiastic; and now she even planted a kiss on his face, such a treat was not easy to come by.
Although the little girl hadn’t been brought out of the car by her mother, she had been watching everything through the glass, hearing it all.
Today, Wendy thought her uncle was 2.1 meters tall, undeniably imposing.
