Chapter 1484: Chapter 1456: This is the worst time my daughter-in-law has been smeared

"Quick, quick, quick, get the stretcher ready! His pulse and blood pressure are all wrong, if this continues, he’s going to be in trouble!"

The doctor came over and noticed Mario Yuno’s condition, and everyone began to hurriedly lift him onto the stretcher in a frenzy.

At this moment, Mario Yuno was completely oblivious to everything around him, as he stared blankly at his virtual wife.

"Don’t make me wait for you anymore! I’ve already waited too long. Don’t you know what you’re supposed to do? Snap out of it, and come take me home!"

Kiara’s voice infused life into Phillip Yuno.

Although he did not know where the voice was coming from, it was like a shot of adrenaline straight to Mario Yuno’s heart.

People were lifting him, and just as they got him onto the stretcher, the man who had seemed almost beyond help abruptly sat up.

"This isn’t so simple," Mario Yuno said, almost scaring the life out of the ones carrying the stretcher.

"Youngest, lie down, you’re not alright—"

Mario Yuno got off the stretcher and stood on the ground. Despite being pale and battered, his voice was much steadier than his previous frantic tone.

"I’m fine. Get them out of here."

"But just now—"

"Just now was then, now is now! My wife is waiting for me to take her back home, I don’t damn well have time to faint. Hurry up and clear these doctors out!"

Mario Yuno commanded with an authoritative tone.

The presence of his wife was the best doctor he could ask for; he did not need these people causing more chaos.

"Dad, go find someone to check the hotel’s surveillance footage, and the surveillance at the surrounding intersections. Focus on anyone who entered or exited the hotel in the last two days. Also, get me the information on a blue tricycle carrying a child near the hotel just before the incident occurred—and yes, City Hospital’s emergency department took in a foreign child named Chad, make sure to detain him!"

"...Youngest, is your brain alright?"

One second, he was on the verge of death and headed to the emergency room, the next, he had revived with the vigor of a dragon and tiger and rattled off all these demands, which made him seem like he wasn’t in his right mind.

"My wife isn’t here right now; who am I supposed to charm? Stop wasting time and go do it! Also, get me the map of the surrounding area. I need coordination from brother departments; block the exits of several highways out of the city and thoroughly check the vehicles—especially focus on the airport, train station, and pier."

Mario Yuno said calmly while everyone else looked stunned.

"My mind is incredibly clear right now; in fact, I’ve never been more lucid than at this moment. I suspect someone has maliciously kidnapped my wife and staged an accidental death scene. Now, I need to find concrete evidence to locate where my wife is hidden. If you have any doubts, keep them to yourself and continue in silence, just cooperate with me."

At this moment, Mario Yuno was the legendary figure who had never been defeated at work.

Mr. Yuno and the Second Brother of Yuno Family looked at their father, Mr. Yuno, who nodded.

"Do as the youngest says."

Although everybody knew that Mario Yuno was possibly just escaping from the harsh reality due to his grief, having something to do was better than doing nothing.

After saying all this, Mario Yuno left out a crucial point.

Before his inner conjecture was confirmed, he did not have the courage to look, fearing that just one glance at the carefully constructed façade of strength would cause it to collapse. What kept Mario Yuno going was the ephemeral image of Kiara that had appeared to him as if in a dream.

He feared that if the body that was not intact really belonged to his precious Kiara, he wouldn’t even have the courage to verify it.

Items requested by Mario Yuno were quickly brought in, while Mother Yuno and other female relatives were sent out of the hospital room, as Mr. Yuno and others stayed with him.

Isaac and the Sister-in-law supported Mother Yuno, their tears still fresh on their faces. They had experienced too much emotional turmoil that day, crying then stopping only to cry again, unable to cease.

Mother Yuno suppressed her grief. With the youngest acting as if cursed and refusing to face reality, as an elder, she still needed to take charge.

"We should split up and take action. Despite the painful circumstances, we must notify those who should be informed. Kiara... her body has not yet grown cold..."

At these words, everyone broke down again. How could such a good person not even leave a complete corpse behind?

Struggling to hold back her tears, Mother Yuno said, "Isaac, you should inform her mother. Since their love for their daughter is as vital as life itself, they will be devastated. Isaac, you’ve learned alongside Kiara for so long; you should be able to control the elderly lady’s emotions. Grief is inevitable, but we must also try to protect them from harming themselves."

Isaac nodded with tears in his eyes.

Mother Yuno then addressed the Sister-in-law, "Zara, you handle the notifications for Kiara’s school and her laboratory. Oh, and there’s also her godfather; please let him know too. I heard the child is with him... Ah, we ought to bring her back; she’s our dear granddaughter from the Old Yates Family... My poor little granddaughter, to lose her mother at such a young age..."

Mother Yuno couldn’t continue, covering her face and weeping for a while before managing to stop the tears and painfully pressed on.

"I’ll arrange the funeral details on my side; first contact the Funeral Home. We want the best makeup artist, no matter the cost; we have to find a way to piece our person back together. Her departure was too sudden and so tragic, we must let her go in one piece. As for the broken pieces... let’s piece them together somehow..."

Her speech quivered with emotion. It was truly too tragic, and they could hardly bear it. If the relatives felt such heartache, how much more so Mario Yuno, her husband?

As Mother Yuno tearfully arranged the postmortem affairs, the door suddenly opened, and Mario Yuno came out.

Although his face still bore an irrepressible sadness, there was now a spark of fire in his eyes where once only despair had been.

"Mom, it’s okay to have the Funeral Home put together the body, but do not hold a funeral."

"You silly boy, I know you can’t bear to let go of Kiara, but we believe in putting the dead to rest. She passed away so tragically, you can’t leave her without a resting place. She was wed into our family through an official ceremony; she will always be the Old Yates Family’s fourth daughter-in-law. Your true partner... no matter how far you go, in the end, you must be buried together with your true partner."

"My wife and I being buried together, that’s an event for decades from now, but those mangled remains that cannot be recognized are not my wife. Although I don’t know whose body that is, it’s definitely not my wife’s. If you don’t believe me, we can do a DNA test!"

"It’s not Kiara?! But what about the signs on the clothing... and the jewelry and broken glasses pieces..."

"All those can be faked, look!" Mario Yuno produced a map of the hotel he had been studying, marked with traces he had noted.

He had highlighted the location where the accident had been leaked and the place where the body had been found.

"According to my calculations, the force of the accident couldn’t have reached my wife’s location, and even if it had, it couldn’t have caused such devastation to a person." His excellent calculation abilities were being put to use.

"The investigation reported she panicked and ran inside, resulting in—"

"Nonsense. This is the worst my wife’s IQ has ever been tainted by others. Everyone with average intelligence knows to run outside in an emergency. The entire accident left people injured but no one died. How come my intelligent wife would foolishly run into danger at a critical moment?"

"Then why create a fake?"

"Someone doesn’t want us to find her. This is a conspiracy!" Mario Yuno, regaining his composure, immediately thought of the last strange call he had with Kiara.

In the brief half-minute before the explosion, someone had taken his wife!
