Chapter 1461: Chapter 1433: Coming to You Because It’s Wrong

Kiara finished arranging things for Olivia Smith and went off with Mario Yuno to play around with the kids.

While this place was not particularly developed, it did have some historic sites and such, which were decent enough for broadening one’s horizons. Both members of the couple had a bit of a youthful rebellious streak and felt that no matter how good things were outside, it couldn’t compare with their home—the great rivers and mountains of the Motherland were beautiful beyond compare.

Having fun was one thing, but eating was quite another. The local water and soil nourish the people who live there, and the biggest feeling from being abroad was not being used to the food. It had only been a few days, and Kiara was already missing the big meat skewers from Linville.

The natural fragrance of the charcoal fire mingled with the sizzling oil from the meat over the flames—such yearning accompanied Kiara at every meal, and mealtime always found her worried.

Mario Yuno, though not picky and willing to eat anything, also did not like the local dishes.

If you had to say who was the happiest, it was Wendy. She naturally had her own organic provision—her mother’s breast milk—plus the teething sticks they brought along and some fruit puree. She ate delightfully; every time she ate, she would greedily grasp with one hand while Mario Yuno looked on enviously.

Whenever he slapped her little meaty paw away, she would stubbornly grab it back again.

"Daughter-in-law, I feel like I’m not acclimating well to the local environment. How about you let me have a few sips, too? I demand to enjoy the same treatment as our daughter," he pleaded.

"Get lost!"

Camden touched his nose—it was a clear case of favoritism!

With a sly look towards his daughter who was breastfeeding, the little one seemed a bit tired after playing with her parents Outside all day. She came back in the afternoon lethargic, her eyelids drooping after a full meal, yet she couldn’t fall into a deep sleep. Every few seconds, she would wake up and half-blindedly suckle a few more times. Based on Mario Yuno’s experience, their daughter would fall asleep in no more than five minutes.

Then...

He gleefully looked towards the bed, thinking he could eat as much as he wanted! And, after eating what was on top, he could eat from other places, eat any which way he liked—perfect!

Kiara knew what that look meant and wanted to roll her eyes—was this guy a machine who didn’t know the meaning of fatigue?

They had already been to so many places today, and she was so tired that she could barely summon the energy to hate her situation; she had even thought about skipping dinner just to lie down, and yet this guy was still entertaining such impure thoughts—it was exasperating.

"Daughter-in-law, are you tired? How about I give you a massage? That heterosexual spa really relieves fatigue, and I’ll do it for free," he plotted another scheme, having failed to procure equal treatment as his daughter.

"Ha ha." Trust him, and you’re a fool!

What a joke—that kind of thing would only make you more tired!

Mario Yuno pretended not to understand her laughter, made a move to undress, and excitedly calculated the quickest time for a shower, figuring that by the time he was out, his daughter would have already fallen asleep—

Wellness Spas should be taken advantage of early!

"It wouldn’t be proper to come all this way and not buy anything. Here’s an idea—you go buy some souvenirs, the local handicraft specialties or something, while the shops are still open; just grab a few of whatever."

Camden felt deflated.

They had agreed on letting the "rolling Yangtze River’s eastward flow" run its course, and he, the hero, was all prepared to vigorously shake off the spray!

"Didn’t we already buy everything?! Why are we still buying?" Camden protested.

"The things we picked are for our parents and close friends, but I suddenly feel we should also bring some for our neighbors back at the Hospital. We’re not looking for anything expensive, but we should choose with care. It’s also an opportunity for you to get some things for your friends."

"But aren’t we still here for two more days? We could still buy them later!"

"The places we’ll visit the day after tomorrow are too far from the shopping district. Go now!"

Kiara kicked Mario Yuno out. After coaxing their daughter to sleep, she took a fragrantly scented bath and slipped into bed, ready to fall asleep.

By the time Camden got back, she would likely be asleep, and she doubted the big Livestock would still be up to those sorts of things.

She was already so tired; indulging in those discordant activities, she would surely wake up lethargic tomorrow. The colorful things he was thinking of could wait until they were back home. They’d come all this way to have fun for a few days—what a waste it would be to spend energy on such matters.

With a smugness born of successful scheming, Mrs. Kiara sweetly embraced her daughter as they entered dreamland, skipping dinner altogether.

It felt to her as though she had only closed her eyes for a moment when she heard Mario Yuno call her name from outside.

"Kiara, don’t sleep. Wake up~"

"Mm." Kiara rolled over and pulled the blanket tighter around herself.

This guy was back so early, but she wasn’t about to fall for his tricks.

Seeing that Kiara was not waking up, Mario Yuno actually began pushing her, insistently urging her to get up.

"Yuno! You know there are severe consequences for disturbing my sleep, right?!" Kiara finally sat up, glaring angrily at him.

Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at the clock on the bedside table and realized she had been asleep for over two hours.

"I have a major discovery that’s why I woke you!"

"What kind of major discovery could you possibly have?" Kiara yawned, tempted to lie back down on her soft pillow.

"Guess who I saw?"

"Who? Another widow from your past? Your social network is too broad, you know people even overseas..."

"Pah, stop talking nonsense! No widow. I saw your dad!"

"Who?!" Kiara bolted upright, this time fully alert.

"Your dad. Although it was just a fleeting glimpse, it looked just like him. I wanted to follow him, but I don’t know if he spotted me or not. He was dodging left and right and then disappeared."

Honestly, Camden couldn’t help but admire his cheap, makeshift father-in-law who had managed to shake off his tail. That’s no ordinary skill.

"How is that possible? I called him this morning and he said he was busy with experiments in the Laboratory. It’s only been a few hours; how could he be here? Besides, we are returning home in a couple of days; why would he come here?"

"It’s because something felt off that I came back to get you."

The more Kiara thought about it, the stranger it seemed. She took out her phone to call Yuzo Joel, but the call wouldn’t go through.

"Could you have been mistaken?" Kiara considered another possibility.

Mario Yuno was not entirely sure, "I shouldn’t be mistaken. Although it wasn’t a full face view and he had disguised himself a little, the way he walked looked like him."

If Camden was so certain, then it was likely true. Kiara trusted his expertise.

What could possibly bring Dad here without telling her?

If Camden did indeed see her dad, it must mean that something important had happened here. With so many people at the Farmstead, it must be no small matter that required Dad to personally intervene, bypassing both her and Eldest Brother.

What could it possibly be... Kiara racked her brains but couldn’t come up with a reasonable answer, her brows furrowing in deep thought.

Meanwhile, in a certain part of the Slum, Olivia Smith was hurriedly packing her luggage with Chad vigilantly watching the outside.

"Mother, why aren’t you staying at the Hospital?" Chad asked innocently.

"There’s no time to explain. We have to leave here right now," Olivia Smith finished packing the luggage, looking pale and breathless. She was supposed to be hospitalized, but she had left the Hospital without letting anyone know, aware that she had to leave with her son.

Even though someone was willing to treat her for free, Olivia was worried it was those people looking for her and just wanted to leave this place of trouble as soon as possible.

After Mother and son had packed their luggage, Olivia led her son quickly towards the exit. Just as they were about to leave the Slum, they saw a few people standing ahead, and Olivia’s heart skipped a beat.
