Chapter 68: Chapter 68 Wanting to Take a Master

Cultivators of Truth.

The number one nemesis of all cultivators of demons across various cultivation planets in the universe!

Of course, to the cultivators of truth, the cultivators of demons were similarly mortal enemies.

Back then, the Soul-controlling Demon was attacked by a group of cultivators of truth while transcending the Heavenly Tribulation. As a result, it was reduced to a residual soul and ended up on Earth, where it was consumed by Ye Fei.

From the first time Ye Fei encountered Master Ma, he knew there must be other cultivators on Earth, and naturally, there would also be cultivators of truth!

But to encounter one so blatantly today was something Ye Fei had not expected.

However, Ye Fei quickly felt a sense of disappointment.

Because the middle-aged man strolling in the small garden, while indeed a cultivator of truth, was not a legitimate one, and he hadn’t even reached the entry-level Qi Cultivation Stage.

Compared to Ye Fei himself, there was no comparison whatsoever.

Seeing this, Ye Fei instantly lost interest and turned to leave.

However, just then, the middle-aged man’s face suddenly darkened, and he collapsed to the ground.

"Hmm? Someone launched a sneak attack?"

A cold gleam flashed through Ye Fei’s eyes.

But when he unleashed his Divine Sense, he found absolutely nothing.

This made him puzzled. However, when he moved closer to the man, a hint of delight appeared on his face as he smiled and said, "It’s actually a Mind Control Insect!"

The Mind Control Insect is a type of spirit worm that can only be nurtured by cultivators of demons.

It’s immensely powerful, comparable to the ancient Twelve-winged Golden Cicada, an ultimate treasure coveted by all cultivators of demons!

Ye Fei never expected to encounter a Mind Control Insect on Earth.

With this realization, his curiosity was piqued. He extended a single hand, and in an instant, a flash of black light erupted from the man’s body. A massive black beetle with a prominent mandible landed squarely in Ye Fei’s hand.

Studying the black beetle in his hand, Ye Fei couldn’t help but let out a subtle sound of surprise: "Strange, it seems a bit different from the Mind Control Insect in the Devilish Memory. It appears too weak—could it be a branch variant? Or a descendant of the original?"

As Ye Fei was pondering, the middle-aged man slowly regained consciousness. Upon seeing the beetle in Ye Fei’s hand, he immediately cried out in alarm, "Poisonous Insect!"

"Poisonous Insect? You recognize this creature?" Ye Fei asked with curiosity.

Hearing this, the man finally took note of Ye Fei. He hesitated and then tentatively said, "Did... did you save me?"

"It was nothing more than a trivial effort. Now, tell me about this Poisonous Insect!" Ye Fei replied dismissively with a wave of his hand.

A trivial effort?

Upon hearing Ye Fei’s words, the man immediately gave Ye Fei a thorough once-over.

He knew all too well that once a Poisonous Insect takes root in a person, it is nearly impossible to remove. Yet this young man, who appeared to be only seventeen or eighteen, claimed it was a trivial effort?

How could that be possible?

Could this young man standing before him actually be a senior expert among cultivators?

As this thought crossed his mind, the man noticed the faint yet terrifying aura occasionally emanating from Ye Fei.

As a cultivator of truth, the man immediately adopted a respectful demeanor and said, "Senior, thank you for saving my life! I am Shao Bing, may I ask for your honored name?"

"Shao Bing? The national-level medical expert visiting Yuntian Medical College?"

Ye Fei said with some surprise.

After all, the arrival of a national-level expert had prompted Yuntai University to hang banners and slogans everywhere. It was impossible for Ye Fei not to know.

He just hadn’t anticipated that this expert was also a cultivator of truth.

Shao Bing was startled too. He hadn’t expected Ye Fei to know his name.

Under normal circumstances, if someone as young as Ye Fei recognized him, Shao Bing would proudly praise the person for their keen eye and perhaps offer a tip or two.

But the situation was different now; this was no ordinary student but a senior expert.

So Shao Bing quickly replied humbly, "Senior, you flatter me. I’m just someone with a little superficial knowledge, healing and saving lives. I’m unworthy of your recognition. By the way, may I ask for your honored name?"

"You can just call me Ye Fei," Ye Fei said with a smile. "Now, quickly tell me about this Poisonous Insect."

"Yes, yes!"

Shao Bing nodded quickly.

While he had never met a senior expert among cultivators before, according to the accounts of his elders, these experts were known to be eccentric and unpredictable.

No matter how amicable Ye Fei seemed now, there was no telling if he might take offense and end Shao Bing’s life on a whim.

So Shao Bing promptly explained, "Mr. Ye, this beetle is one type of Poisonous Insect from the Miao Region, known as the Heart-devouring God Worm! Anyone afflicted would immediately lose consciousness and become a cripple. If not for your swift action earlier, my cultivation would have surely been ruined."

"Lose consciousness? Become crippled? Is that all?" Ye Fei asked, somewhat disappointed.

Isn’t that bad enough?

Shao Bing looked at Ye Fei in confusion, unsure of his meaning.

What Shao Bing didn’t realize was that Ye Fei simply found the Poisonous Insect’s power utterly underwhelming.

Though Ye Fei had determined that this Poisonous Insect was likely a distant offspring of the original Mind Control Insect, it was far inferior to its ancestor, capable only of robbing a person’s awareness and cultivation—nothing to marvel at.

With his interest waning, Ye Fei casually tossed the beetle away.

"Mr. Ye, you mustn’t!"

Shao Bing exclaimed in alarm.

"Mustn’t? Why not?" Ye Fei asked in puzzlement.

"Mr. Ye, you are unaware. The Heart-devouring God Worm must have a powerful Gu Master behind it. If the worm is released, that Gu Master will undoubtedly know it was you who disrupted their plans. When that time comes, I fear you may be dragged into this mess because of me!"

As Shao Bing said this, he glanced at the beetle, which had already flown far away, and sighed internally.

"It’s too late; this Heart-devouring God Worm is incredibly fast. Once it escapes, no one can catch it. Mr. Ye, while you seem to possess great strength, you were too careless. If the Gu Master behind this worm learns of it, even with your abilities, you may find it difficult to fend off Poisonous Insect attacks!"

With that, Shao Bing prepared to urge Ye Fei to leave quickly to avoid being targeted by the Gu Master.

Rustle!

Just as Shao Bing opened his mouth, he watched Ye Fei extend his palm and grasp the air. A massive black hand formed from Devil Essence materialized, and the Heart-devouring God Worm, already hundreds of meters away, was seized and crushed into oblivion.

"What were you saying earlier? That this little worm has some Gu Master behind it?" Ye Fei retracted his hand and asked calmly.

"Yes... yes!"

Shao Bing nodded stiffly, his heart filled with shock.

What kind of technique was this?

The Heart-devouring God Worm had flown hundreds of meters at incredible speed, yet Ye Fei had annihilated it with an external force drawn from his own power?

Such a skill—Shao Bing had neither seen nor heard of its like before.

Soon, however, Shao Bing’s eyes gleamed with fervor. He dropped to his knees with a thud and bowed to Ye Fei, shouting, "Mr. Ye—no, Senior Ye! Please take me as your disciple!"
