Rebirth of the Peak Young Master -
Chapter 295: Very Familiar
Chapter 295: Chapter 295: Very Familiar
"Oh!"
Yang Tian showed no concern for Han Ruxue’s tone and continued, "So, when will this so-called Magical Treasure make its appearance?"
Magical Treasure?
A stunning beauty is sitting right in front of you, yet you’re still obsessing over some Magical Treasure?
What a blockhead!
At this point, Han Ruxue completely gave up trying to converse with Yang Tian as if he were a normal person. She casually replied, "It will naturally appear when the time is right. But you can meet its owner right now! Look, over there!"
As she spoke, Han Ruxue pointed toward a middle-aged man who had just entered the cocktail party and was immediately surrounded by people. She smiled and said, "That’s Dong Jianfang from the Dong Family, who just returned recently."
"Dong Jianfang? This name rings a bell!"
Yang Tian’s lips curled into a playful smile as soon as he heard the name.
"You’ve heard of Dong Jianfang?" Han Ruxue asked curiously upon hearing Yang Tian’s words.
Yang Tian responded with a subtle smile and a slight nod.
This name was familiar to him because it was not the first time he’d heard it. The first mention had come from the mouths of the Su Rui father-and-son duo, who had met their match against Yang Tian in Binjiang.
It was said that Dong Jianfang was once the youngest CEO ever, and after his tenure ended, he ventured into business and amassed an impressive fortune, becoming extremely wealthy.
A true legend in both the political and business sectors.
If not for the centuries-old heritage of the Su Family,
it’s likely the Su Family would no longer hold the title of the number-one family; it would have been overtaken by Dong Jianfang.
This is why the calculating Grandmaster Su immediately arranged a marriage between Yang Tian’s mother, Su Lingyun, and Dong Jianfang years ago. Yet Su Lingyun eloped with Yang Tian’s father, Yang Zhigang, because of love, ultimately thwarting Grandmaster Su’s plans.
It was Dong Jianfang’s wife’s unexpected death that prompted Su Rui and his father to go to Binjiang.
When Grandmaster Su heard the news, he reignited his schemes, and with Su Lingyun having lost her memory, this set everything in motion for Yang Tian’s journey.
Thus, Yang Tian was naturally acquainted with the name Dong Jianfang.
Of course, Han Ruxue knew none of this. Seeing Yang Tian nod, she chuckled and said, "Well, it seems you’re not entirely clueless. So, what do you think? Want me to introduce you to him? I can make it happen!"
"There’s no need..."
Before Yang Tian could finish his sentence, Han Ruxue was already waving toward Dong Jianfang in the distance, calling out, "Uncle Dong, over here, over here!"
Dong Jianfang, who was chatting with someone, suddenly heard Han Ruxue’s voice. He excused himself from his companion and strode over.
"Miss Xue, aren’t you worried the paparazzi might catch you making such a public appearance?" Dong Jianfang greeted Han Ruxue with a doting smile.
"What’s there to be afraid of? It might even land me on the trending news!"
Han Ruxue nonchalantly shrugged and then pointed at Yang Tian, saying, "Uncle Dong, this is Yang Tian, a new friend of mine. Yang Tian, this is Uncle Dong Jianfang!"
"Haha, Miss Xue’s friend?"
Dong Jianfang turned his gaze toward Yang Tian.
Though his facial expression remained unchanged, his eyes revealed a subtle trace of appraisal.
"Mediocre looks, tasteless clothing—it’s clear he’s not from a prestigious family. His demeanor and actions also lack any extraordinary traits."
"With Miss Xue’s standing, how could she be friends with someone like this? What could his intentions be for getting close to her?"
With just a glance, Dong Jianfang had already churned up a rapid succession of thoughts.
Yet outwardly, he maintained his amicable smile and said, "Yang Tian, my young friend, is it? I’m Dong Jianfang."
"Hello," Yang Tian replied flatly.
Dong Jianfang’s dissatisfaction with Yang Tian quickly turned into a hint of displeasure.
After all, who was Dong Jianfang?
A legendary figure in both the political and business worlds. When ordinary heirs from noble families met him, they treated him with the utmost respect.
Even the current CEOs showed him deference.
Yet here stood this completely unremarkable young man, who, if not for Han Ruxue, would never have earned Dong Jianfang’s attention.
But instead of the usual reverence or polite gratitude he expected, Yang Tian’s response lacked even the basic courtesy of standing up or returning the gesture.
How could Dong Jianfang not feel offended?
What he didn’t know was that while the feud between the Su and Yang families stemmed from Grandmaster Su’s machinations, for Yang Tian, Dong Jianfang—though not to blame directly—was the origin of it all. This fact alone was enough to make Yang Tian less fond of him.
Moreover, Dong Jianfang’s penetrating gaze was something Yang Tian clearly noticed and disliked.
So, Yang Tian’s attitude naturally came across as lukewarm.
Most importantly, when it came to status, Yang Tian’s reach extended far beyond. High-ranking officials from major powers treated him with caution, and after the incident in Japan, some smaller states regarded him with outright reverence.
In terms of status, Dong Jianfang, even standing on tiptoes, could only look up at Yang Tian’s toes!
Soon after, the cocktail party officially began.
Dong Jianfang, after exchanging a few casual words with Han Ruxue, got up again to mingle with other attendees.
Seeing this, Han Ruxue immediately turned to Yang Tian and said, "Why were you so quiet just now? Uncle Dong isn’t just anybody. You could’ve learned a lot chatting with him!"
Learned a lot?
Yang Tian chuckled softly and shook his head.
Learn from Dong Jianfang?
Learn politics? Learn business?
Although Dong Jianfang indeed had remarkable achievements in both areas, which made him the focus of Grandmaster Su’s elaborate plans, none of this had any value for Yang Tian.
In politics, the most you could achieve was becoming a leader of a nation.
In business, perhaps you could accumulate wealth beyond measure.
But Yang Tian was a Cultivator. What did a nation-leader or immense wealth matter to him?
One strike of his blade, and all would turn to dust!
Han Ruxue frowned as she watched Yang Tian shake his head. "What? You don’t think I’m making sense?"
"It’s not that,"
Yang Tian responded with a smile. "It’s just that what he’s good at holds no value for me, that’s all."
"No value for you? You act as if you’re so capable!"
Han Ruxue pouted, clearly believing Yang Tian was exaggerating. Still, curiosity got the better of her, and she asked, "So, seriously, who are you? A rich heir? A corporate bigwig’s son?"
"Neither. I’m just a Cultivator," Yang Tian replied indifferently.
"A Cultivator? So what, do you think you’re some Taoist or Monk?"
Han Ruxue was clearly dissatisfied with Yang Tian’s answer.
But before she could continue her questioning, a commotion suddenly interrupted them.
"Haha, such a lively cocktail party! And fancy meeting old friends here!"
A coarse voice rang out as a burly man, his arms fully tattooed, stepped through the doors, gripping two iron lion heads in his hands.
Behind him followed a group of men who clearly didn’t look like the refined attendees.
"This is a private cocktail party. Who are you people?"
A security guard saw the newcomers and immediately stepped up to confront them.
Slap!
Before the words were even finished, one of the tattooed man’s lackeys pulled out an iron rod and struck the guard on the head.
The guard collapsed to the floor, blood streaming from a head wound.
The burly man snorted disdainfully. "Who do you think you are, standing in my way? Right, Boss Dong?"
As he spoke, the tattooed man sneered maliciously and turned his gaze to Dong Jianfang.
Dong Jianfang’s face darkened instantly. "Yan Baizi, what is it you want?"
"What do I want?"
