Rebirth of the Peak Young Master -
Chapter 258: The Mantis Stalks the Cicada
Chapter 258: Chapter 258: The Mantis Stalks the Cicada
After all, Yang Tian could figure out with just a twitch of his toes—there’s no way Makura Daisuke and his crew were so kind-hearted!
The reason they relocated so swiftly was none other than to leave Yang Tian without any excuse not to show up for the meeting, so that they could wipe him out in one fell swoop!
But now that Yang Tian had broken through to the Golden Core Middle Stage, he just wanted to say sorry to Makura Daisuke and his likeminded cronies.
Because right here and now, he was going to crush Orochi, devour all of Orochi’s energy, and take the next step to become a Ninth-Grade Golden Core Cultivator!
With this thought, Yang Tian quickly gave a few instructions to the Enchanting Demon and then headed up Mount Fuji alone.
But after only a few steps, Yang Tian stopped in his tracks again.
Because he saw two familiar faces!
Well... they weren’t exactly *familiar faces*, per se. One of them had only met Yang Tian once before, while the other was undeniably more... interesting!
"It’s her again!?"
Yang Tian looked at the ponytailed woman not far ahead and couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head.
Because that woman was none other than Chen Wei, the tour guide Yang Tian had met when he first arrived in Japan!
Funny how this worked out—every time Yang Tian had taken action in Japan, he’d somehow run into Chen Wei!
The first time, at Chunyang Grand Shrine, Yang Tian hadn’t gone to any lengths to conceal himself from anyone, so it hadn’t been much of a coincidence.
But the second time, during the battle at Rice Field Shrine, Yang Tian had crossed paths with her once more, completely unexpectedly.
And now, during this Mount Fuji duel, he’d encountered her yet again!
Today, Chen Wei was still dressed like a tour guide, but her face didn’t look so good—in fact, her expression could only be described as irritated.
The reason for her mood became apparent when Yang Tian caught sight of the person next to her. That person was none other than Fan Benshu, the guy from the Fan Family in Ann Province who had wet his pants when Yang Tian unleashed carnage at Chunyang Grand Shrine!
But Fan Benshu wasn’t the loner he had been last time.
Standing beside him now were no fewer than twenty burly men, and their demeanor and subtle movements made it clear to anyone that these twenty men were highly trained bodyguards.
"What the hell?! Who gave you people the guts to dare block me? Do you know who I am? If you want to make my life difficult, trust me, you’ll regret it!"
With twenty bodyguards backing him up, Fan Benshu had retained his usual cocky demeanor, yelling even more brazenly at the Japanese police officer in front of him.
The officer, however, remained cold-faced and responded in awkward Chinese: "Sir, even if you are an investor in the Eastern Capital, you cannot go up today."
"Can’t go up? Do you know how much I’ve invested in the Eastern Capital? More than you could ever count in your entire life! Listen, I’m *going* up today, no matter what you say! And if you dare stop me, even the mayor of the Eastern Capital won’t be able to shield you!"
Fan Benshu grinned arrogantly and occasionally glanced at Chen Wei.
At Chunyang Grand Shrine, Fan Benshu had deliberately caused trouble for Chen Wei because he’d taken a fancy to the beautiful tour guide.
Even after Yang Tian had scared him so badly he’d wet his pants, Fan Benshu had still shamelessly come back to Japan once more—this time bringing along his entourage of bodyguards—and organized a tour group with Chen Wei as the guide.
As for the possibility of running into Yang Tian again, Fan Benshu wasn’t worried in the slightest.
From his distant and limited viewpoint during the Chunyang Grand Shrine incident, Fan Benshu hadn’t seen Yang Tian’s true capabilities. To him, it was nothing more than killing!
The twenty bodyguards behind him, all highly paid by the Fan Family and recruited from the lawless Golden Triangle, were top-tier mercenaries. Each of them had hundreds, if not thousands, of lives on their hands.
Fan Benshu even thought to himself that if he ran into Yang Tian again, he’d have his bodyguards teach Yang Tian a severe lesson to avenge the humiliation of being scared into wetting himself!
But for now, chasing women was more important!
After chastising the Japanese police officer, Fan Benshu immediately turned his attention to Chen Wei and said smugly, "Weiwei, been waiting for a while, huh? Don’t worry; I’ll make a quick call to smooth things over and then take you on a nice tour of Mount Fuji!"
"Thanks, but please call me Tour Guide Chen," Chen Wei replied, her tone full of annoyance.
Unfazed, Fan Benshu said, "Oh, come on now! Weiwei, I know you’re upset that I accidentally broke your boss’s leg at the travel agency, but it was only because he harassed you! I did it to protect you!"
"Protect me? I think you’re the one harassing me!" Chen Wei snorted coldly, though as her gaze fell on Fan Benshu’s bodyguards, a hint of fear flickered across her face.
Over the past few days, Chen Wei had been journeying around Japan with Luo Ran, the travel agency boss, trying to relax and leave behind her memories of Yang Tian.
But that peace was shattered when Fan Benshu stormed into the travel agency and demanded Chen Wei lead his group.
Luo Ran, unwilling to give up his rare opportunity to spend time alone with Chen Wei, refused Fan Benshu’s request—and was promptly beaten up by the bodyguards, who broke both his legs.
Which led to this forced trip for Chen Wei and Fan Benshu at Mount Fuji!
As Chen Wei stared at the familiar blockade before her, much like the one she’d seen at Rice Field Shrine, she couldn’t help but think of Yang Tian once again.
"Who is he, really? A crazed killer? Then why haven’t the Japanese police issued a warrant for his arrest?"
"Or maybe he’s one of those martial arts masters you see on TV? That could be possible! But why would he come to Japan just to kill?"
Thinking this, Chen Wei couldn’t help but laugh at herself.
Why was she even pondering this? No matter who Yang Tian was, they weren’t cut from the same cloth, nor would the things she secretly hoped for ever come true.
"He is who he is, and I am who I am; our paths will never truly cross..."
Her thoughts were interrupted midway when Chen Wei suddenly froze, staring in shock at a black-haired, black-clad young man who casually approached her with a faint smile and said softly, "Hello, we meet again!"
"It’s him! It’s him again! He... he’s really here? Not a hallucination?"
Looking at Yang Tian in front of her, Chen Wei’s mind was thrown into utter disarray.
She couldn’t understand what was wrong with her!
By all logic, any woman who’d witnessed the massacre at Chunyang Grand Shrine would fear Yang Tian, panic, and run away the moment they saw him again!
But at Rice Field Shrine, Chen Wei hadn’t reacted like that—and this time, the same was true!
Although Chen Wei felt short of breath, she could tell that it wasn’t fear—rather, it was tension. A kind of tension she’d never felt before!
And she found herself speculating about Yang Tian’s purpose for being here.
The first time at Chunyang Grand Shrine, Yang Tian unleashed a bloodbath.
The second time at Rice Field Shrine, the entire place had been sealed off, with only Yang Tian entering and not coming out—and soon after, news of the shrine being attacked and left in ruins spread far and wide.
And this time, yet again, the area before them had been locked down.
Was Yang Tian here to kill again?
Thinking this, Chen Wei couldn’t help but suck in a cold breath, but for some reason, a wave of curiosity rose within her heart.
A strong urge to know more about Yang Tian surged through her!
And that curiosity gradually turned her cheeks a faint shade of pink.
Seeing Chen Wei’s reaction, Yang Tian shook his head instinctively.
With his personality, he wouldn’t normally go out of his way to greet Chen Wei, even if they’d crossed paths a few times before!
The only reason he greeted her now was the peculiar fact that his two battles in Japan had coincidentally involved Chen Wei—and now this Mount Fuji duel had brought them face-to-face once again!
To Yang Tian, this couldn’t merely be coincidence; there must be some hidden cause and effect at play here!
Cultivators may act freely according to their whims, but that doesn’t mean they disregard the threads of karma entirely!
After all, every thread of karma is a part of the Tao, and this was why Yang Tian chose to greet Chen Wei—but it was only a greeting, nothing more!
