Rebirth of the Peak Young Master -
Chapter 210: Painstaking Efforts
Chapter 210: Chapter 210: Painstaking Efforts
No one wanted to talk to him, and he enjoyed the relaxed solitude. From time to time, he swept his Divine Sense across the surroundings, maintaining an air of composure and ease.
This behavior made others shake their heads again and again.
Ye Fei seemed oblivious, foolishly unaware of the impending disaster!
Fengmen Village was situated in a remote corner near the mountains, and many of the houses there differed from those commonly seen in Su Province. Most were built against the mountain itself, appearing as if a cave had been carved out at the base of the mountain and the house embedded within.
As a result, the overall architectural style intrigued the group, offering a fresh perspective.
Moreover, with staff bustling around and numerous lights illuminating the area,
even though it was nighttime in the renowned Ghost Village, no one felt particularly afraid.
They only experienced an inexplicable chill rising from deep within, prompting complaints about not bringing enough warm clothes.
"Isn’t this weather strange? It was pretty warm during the day, so why does it feel like winter now?" asked a shivering lighting technician, puzzled.
Beside him, the makeup artist shrugged and said, "Who knows? Could it be that this village really has ghosts?"
"D-Don’t scare me!" The lighting technician instantly shuddered even harder upon hearing this.
Seeing this, the makeup artist laughed heartily and said, "Look at you! What a coward! There’s no such thing as ghosts in this world! Even if there were, with so many of us here, they’d probably be scared off!"
"Coward my ass! I’m just cold, not scared!" The lighting technician retorted indignantly, giving the makeup artist a playful punch before catching up to the group.
Since the two were at the rear of the group, their conversation naturally reached Ye Fei, who was walking at the very back.
Ye Fei heard every word but didn’t react. Only he knew that this "cold" wasn’t due to the weather—it was ghost energy, the chilling Yin Sha!
"It seems the Ghost Village’s infamous reputation truly precedes itself, well-deserved indeed!"
Ye Fei chuckled faintly as he reached out his hand and made a grasping motion in mid-air. A wisp of gray mist appeared in his palm.
"But why does this Yin Sha energy feel so similar to the aura from that hairpin? Looks like Shi Lan’s decision to send Chen Qian here wasn’t simple at all!"
As he pondered, a cold smile spread across Ye Fei’s face.
No matter how malicious Shi Lan might be, her tricks would ultimately remain nothing more than petty schemes!
With the hairpin he had reprocessed, even if danger arose, Chen Qian wouldn’t come to harm.
On the contrary, it provided an opportunity to uncover the secrets behind Shi Lan’s methods.
Only by completely dismantling her schemes could they achieve true peace.
Otherwise, why would Yang Tian have bothered traveling so far to Fengmen Village alongside Chen Xue? He could’ve just confronted Shi Lan directly and obliterated her with a single strike!
With this thought, Ye Fei expanded his Divine Sense further and continued tailing the group.
Director Lu had evidently conducted some research beforehand.
As they walked, he only instructed the cameraman to capture a few general shots of the surroundings before leading the group straight to the village center.
Before long, a run-down two-story building appeared in the distance.
"Alright! This is the place!"
Upon seeing the building, Director Lu immediately said, "Set up all the cameras and lights here. The primary scenes for this documentary will take place inside."
"Here? Director Lu, this building doesn’t look particularly noteworthy," a perplexed member of the planning team asked.
"Noteworthy?"
Director Lu chuckled and shook his head. "Don’t underestimate this humble building; it’s one of the key locations tied to Fengmen Village’s haunting!"
"Legend has it that back when people still lived in Fengmen Village, three young visitors came here to explore. They stayed in this building, but during the night, they encountered ghosts, suffered persistent fevers, and nearly lost their lives had it not been for guidance from a traveling sage. After that, the stories of Fengmen Village’s haunting began to circulate more widely!"
Hearing this anecdote, the man’s eyes lit up. "So that’s the story! Director Lu, your foresight is impressive. Why don’t we have some team members stay in the building overnight?"
"That’s exactly my plan!"
Director Lu grinned. "We came here this late specifically to capture the first scenes inside the building! Later, paired with footage of a reporter’s overnight stay, it’s bound to create major buzz!"
As he spoke, Director Lu led the cameraman toward the door, ready to enter.
"If you value your lives, I’d advise not going inside."
At that moment, Ye Fei suddenly spoke up.
"You again?"
Director Lu turned to him with obvious irritation. "What’s your deal, young man? I didn’t care about you disrespecting Brother Heishou earlier, but now we’re about to start filming, and you’re spouting nonsense again?"
The others also looked at Ye Fei with disdain and annoyance.
To them, Ye Fei appeared to be creating trouble for no reason—or perhaps engaging in a childish prank.
Only Chen Qian ran up to Ye Fei and asked, "Brother Ye, why can’t we go inside?"
"This building is the source of the village’s concentrated Yin energy and deathly Qi, with countless remains buried beneath. Right now, the Yin wind is stirring; going inside would undoubtedly lead to catastrophe!" Ye Fei explained seriously.
"C-Catastrophe?" Chen Qian turned pale and asked hesitantly.
"Absolute death!" Ye Fei sneered.
Catastrophe?
Absolute death?
Upon hearing Ye Fei’s words, the others didn’t react, but Director Lu was incensed.
"Utter nonsense!"
Director Lu shouted angrily, "Kid, I don’t know what’s in your head, but this world doesn’t have ghosts—just superstition! If you claim it’s catastrophic, what proof do you have?"
"My words are the proof," Ye Fei replied indifferently.
His goal was only to protect Chen Qian. Whether Director Lu believed him or not was irrelevant to Ye Fei.
As a cultivator at the Golden Core Stage, sparing them a warning was already a magnanimous gesture. If they didn’t heed it, Ye Fei had neither the patience nor any obligation to continue explaining to unrelated people.
"Your words are proof?"
Director Lu sneered. Clearly, he regarded Ye Fei’s warning as absurd, so he immediately said, "Everyone, ignore this kid’s ramblings and follow me inside!"
With that, Director Lu took the lead and pushed open the door, while the others shot Ye Fei disdainful looks before following quickly.
The man who had earlier asked about the building’s significance paused momentarily by Chen Qian and said, "Chen Qian, aren’t you going in? Once the lights and cameras are ready, you’ll need to start hosting."
"I..."
Chen Qian hesitated.
Out of trust in Ye Fei, Chen Qian naturally believed his words.
But this documentary was also a rare career opportunity for her.
Seeing her indecision, Ye Fei smiled and said, "Go in."
"But... Brother Ye, didn’t you say this place was dangerously ominous?" Chen Qian asked, puzzled.
"No matter how dangerous it is, as long as I’m here, I can turn peril into safety—for you at least," Ye Fei reassured her with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Chen Qian breathed a sigh of relief, nodded, and followed the group inside.
The man sneered disdainfully at Ye Fei, saying, "You’ve been rambling all this nonsense about danger, and now you talk about resolving it? Only someone naive like Chen Qian would fall for your nonsense! Instead, you should start planning how you’ll deal with Brother Heishou tomorrow morning when you leave!"
With that, the man walked inside, leaving Ye Fei alone outside.
Ye Fei, however, didn’t follow nor leave. He sat cross-legged at the building’s entrance, fully expanding his Divine Sense and muttering coldly to himself, "Shi Lan really went to great lengths to harm Xiao Xu."
Inside the building.
