Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Shocking, Players Go to Extremes for Equipment, Actually...
Preliminary testing concluded, Anvis took out a delicate Magic Sampler, piercing its slender brass-colored needle into the Elf’s arm to collect several tubes of blood shimmering with a faint Magic Power glow.
Sampling complete, Anvis removed four crystal tubes filled with blood from the Sampler.
He inserted one tube into a slot on the flesh cultivation device, and placed another into the Demonized Bloodline Analyzer.
He then used scissors to snip off a strand of the Elf’s hair and placed it in the inscription ring at the bottom of another magical apparatus.
Under his adept manipulation, various instruments began operating in an orderly manner, with a pale green Magic Power radiance twinkling within the laboratory, appearing both odd and mysterious.
Even though restrained on the experimental table, the Last Dragon Descendant was still able to move its head.
Straining to lift its head, the Elf watched Anvis’s silhouette as he controlled the various instruments with Curiosity, wondering what kind of results this research would yield.
In this silent atmosphere, time ticked away second by second.
About half a Magic Time later, a fresh detection report was produced.
Looking at the results displayed in the Demonized Crystal Ball, Anvis couldn’t help but shake his head slightly.
All the instruments indicated that the samples were indistinguishable from those of a normal Elf’s bloodline and hair.
The flesh cultivation device did manage to grow a temporary Elf replica, but its appearance was clearly different from the original.
Most importantly, the body structure of the replica was normal, and it did not develop the Sighing Set that the Player carried on him.
The rudimentary replica designed for bloodline research lacked self-awareness. Anvis controlled the apparatus to revert it back and cleaned up the residue thoroughly.
Truth be told, such results were somewhat within Anvis’s expectations.
If the secret of the Player was so easily decipherable, then the writings of the Continent Magic Council would be abound, and the Magic Times would have a whole year’s worth of major news.
In the memories of Anvis from his previous life, those High Rank Professionals regarded Players as a large-scale, mysterious phenomenon that enveloped the entire world.
According to their research, although Players’ bodies appeared indistinguishable from ordinary beings on the surface, they were essentially akin to thought entities.
Anvis briefly organized the experimental data, no longer indulging in futile attempts, and prepared to commence a special experiment he had long been ready for.
"Unfortunately, Rivers, with the current equipment available here, I’m afraid it’s insufficient to detect any abnormalities you might have," Anvis solemnly declared to the Last Dragon Descendant as he made a show of announcing the research findings.
As his words ended, a series of system prompts quickly refreshed on the Elf’s game panel in front of him.
[System Prompt: ’Secret Research’ task completed! You have been awarded 1,560,000 Experience Value!]
[Your character Level has been raised to Level 60!]
[High Rank Profession advancement task unlocked, please prepare for the advancement early!]
Upon hearing this, the Elf felt an indescribable relief, but Anvis’s subsequent words made his heart rise again.
"Now, I need to conduct some more in-depth research on you, which might cause you some minor injuries, but it won’t cause serious harm."
No good, this plot development is wrong!
The Last Dragon Descendant instantly became vigilant; from his years of role-playing game experience, whenever NPCs said such things, it usually meant the opposite!
Minor injury—→Vivisection
Won’t cause serious harm—→Barely survive through the experiment
Moreover, if there is a first, there will be a second, and if he allows Anvis to continue, wouldn’t it essentially fast-forward to being dissected for study?
Hah, do you think I would stoop to such lowly tasks just for a petty reward?
"Um, Master Anvis... I’m not feeling very well, I think..."
The elf hesitated to speak, planning to make up some excuse to refuse Anvis.
But before he could voice his refusal, an ancient and elegant dark wooden magic wand suddenly appeared in Anvis’s hand.
The staff bore natural twists and knots, with countless mysterious inscriptions faintly visible on its surface.
A large and clear purple crystal was embedded in the head of the staff, refracting a captivating radiance akin to gentle moonlight.
"The Moon Staff of Noy, crafted with old branches of the Life Ancient Tree as the shaft, and the head made of flawless Moonlight Purple Crystal, personally forged by the elven Alchemy Master Noi Star Dust."
"Having just reached the Sixth Rank, you must be in need of a suitable magic wand, right?"
"After the experiment is finished, not only will I grant you a resource quota worth 150,000 Gold Coins, but I will also bestow this wand upon you."
With an elegant and composed smile, Anvis casually floated the wand in front of the Last Dragon Descendant, allowing the elf to covertly examine the wand’s attributes.
"So, the question remains, do you agree, or do you refuse?"
As a reputed elven Alchemy Master, Noi’s magic equipment is rarely sold, but each piece is a sought-after masterpiece.
Not to mention that the staff’s base material is made of the exceedingly precious Life Ancient Tree.
From an attribute perspective, even among master-level equipment, this staff is of exceptional quality.
Looking at the wand before him, the Last Dragon Descendant swallowed with some difficulty.
"Cough... I believe, no matter how many times you ask, your loyal elf follower Rivers will always choose to agree, honored Master Anvis!"
"Of course, if you truly feel unwell, there’s no need to overexert yourself—"
Casually retracting the wand back into his ring, Anvis rarely took the time to concern himself with the health of his own follower.
"Please don’t worry about my health, Master Anvis! Under the sacred radiance of your supreme light, I’m already feeling much better!"
The elf’s expression turned solemn, and he spoke with firm righteousness, showing the highest respect for Anvis’s generosity.
"Is that so?"
The corners of Anvis’s mouth twitched subtly, caught off guard by the sudden flattery from the Last Dragon Descendant.
Shock, the player is willing to do that kind of thing for NPCs just for equipment!
Silently placing his hand on the main control crystal ball, he used his spiritual power to control the connected stone bed and released the Last Dragon Descendant’s limbs from their restraints.
Following Anvis’s action, new task data once again refreshed on the Last Dragon Descendant’s panel.
[System Prompt: You have triggered the special task ’Secret Research II’]
[Task Level: A]
[Task Introduction: Anvis’s research has hit an impasse, and he hopes to conduct some more in-depth studies on you. This includes some experiments that may cause you harm, but without life-threatening danger.]
[Task Requirement: Cooperate with Anvis’s research.]
[Reward: 3,000,000 Experience Value, +5000 contribution to the Olivendi Family, the Moon Staff of Noy]
After waiting briefly for the elf to move his hands and feet, Anvis spoke again.
"Now, remove all of your clothing."
