Chapter 51: You think I’ll still write for you?
"Call her it’s have her meet you, at Cloud Dreams.."
Qin Sayou urged, Yu Jia was in the height of her career, they were even preparing for a matchmaking party to find a suitable boyfriend for her, she would have choose Mo Ran but not just anyone could see his face and it’s not like you go search his name online and find his photos there.
"Okay, I’m calling her now.."
Yu Jia pulled out her phone, her fingers trembling slightly as she dialed the number. She pressed it to her ear, pacing the room as it rang. Her lips curled into a thin smile when the call connected.
"Hello?" came the voice on the other end.
"Lixue, it’s me," Yu Jia said, her tone light but forced. "I was just thinking we should meet. It’s been a while since we caught up."
Lixue’s eyes narrowed slightly. She knew better than to trust Yu Jia’s sudden attempts at friendliness. "What do you want, Yu Jia?"
Yu Jia laughed, but it sounded hollow. "You make it sound like I always have an ulterior motive. Can’t I just want to spend time with my dear sister?"
"I’m busy," Lixue replied curtly, her tone cold. "If there’s nothing important, I’ll hang up."
"Wait," Yu Jia said quickly, dropping the pretense. "I do have something important to discuss. Can we meet at Cloud Dreams? Say around 2 PM?"
Lixue’s hand tightened around her pen, suspicion swirling in her mind. Cloud Dreams was a highend restaurant they used to frequent, but it held no fond memories for her.
"What’s this about?"
"It’s about family," Yu Jia said, her voice dropping an octave, trying to sound earnest. "I promise it won’t take long."
Lixue’s first instinct was to refuse, but something about the way Yu Jia phrased it made her pause. Her relationship with the Yu family had always been strained, but she couldn’t ignore the possibility that this might involve her mother.
"Fine," Lixue said finally, her tone clipped.
"But I can’t stay long."
"Great," Yu Jia replied, a triumphant edge slipping into her voice. "I’ll see you there."
As Lixue hung up, unease settled over her. She leaned back in her chair, staring at the phone in her hand. She didn’t trust Yu Jia, not after everything that had happened between them.
Lixue had suspected something was off when Yu Jia called her. There was a sharpness in her voice, an urgency that seemed out of place, especially given their strained relationship.
But Lixue wasn’t the same girl she used to be—she had learned to trust her instincts.
So, she decided to turn the tables. Today, she would show her half-sister that she wasn’t someone to be underestimated.
Lixue dressed in a way that made her stand out, choosing a sleek black dress that hugged her curves and a delicate necklace Mo Ran had given her after their wedding. Her makeup was minimal but flawless, the kind of look that said she was both elegant and untouchable.
When she had finished, she felt a surge of confidence she hadn’t had in years.
She had the driver take her to the restaurant, the sleek black car gliding smoothly through the streets.
As they arrived at Cloud Dreams, Lixue stepped out of the car with a quiet grace, the luxury of the vehicle in stark contrast to her previous life. She didn’t need to flaunt her status, but she wasn’t going to let Yu Jia think she was someone who could be pushed around.
Inside the restaurant, Lixue was shown to a private room, a spacious, elegant area with modern décor. The table was set for two, and soft lighting created a calm atmosphere. She took a seat, her gaze steady and composed as she waited.
It wasn’t long before the door opened, and Yu Jia stepped inside. She was dressed in a white designer dress, her long hair perfectly styled and a look of carefully constructed confidence on her face. The moment she saw Lixue, her eyes narrowed, but her smile remained in place as she walked over to the table.
"Lixue," Yu Jia greeted her with a tight smile, her voice sweet but carrying an edge. "It’s been a while."
Lixue stood to greet her, offering a polite but distant smile. "Yu Jia. It has indeed."
Yu Jia took a seat opposite her, placing her handbag on the table with a flourish. "I hope you’ve been well. I see you’ve settled into married life nicely." She glanced briefly at the ring on Lixue’s finger, her eyes betraying a flicker of something Lixue couldn’t quite place. "Mo Ran must be treating you well."
Lixue’s expression remained calm, though there was a brief satisfaction in her chest. "He has. I’m very happy."
Yu Jia clenched her fists, if she had married Mo Ran then maybe Lixue would be at her mercy by now.
"I need more songs, this batch only has 3 left.."
"..."
Lixue’s eyes narrowed, so this was why Yu Jia as being so nice, turns out her songs were running out.
"So? What does that have to do with me? You think I’ll just write more songs and give them to you?"
"Yes, after everything the Yu family as done for you, you owe me, you have to deliver those songs..."
Lixue expression darkened, when she heard Yu Jia say, she said owed the Yu family.
"You treated me like an outsider, I owe you nor the Yu family. I will never write another song for you, in fact I plan on taking all the songs you’ve stolen from me all these years back..."
"...!!!"
Yu Jia heart race when she heard what Lixue said, if word got out that the songs that had made her famous were stolen, her career would be over.
"You wouldn’t dare! If you want to keep your marriage with Mo Ran, I suggest you keep shut, bastards like you don’t have rights, we brought you up and sheltered you, who do you think you are to not write songs for me.."
