Chapter 668: Chapter 678: Escaping Prison Couldn’t Be Any Easier
"How much truth was in what he said?"
"Eighty or ninety percent." Li Wenli responded indifferently, "Although I couldn’t see his face clearly, his voice couldn’t deceive me."
"But Lady Lin hasn’t gone back."
"Don’t forget that Lady Lin has a special background. Perhaps, like us, she knew this place was a treasure trove and came back after she was set free."
"Are you saying?" Junjun’s eyes widened.
Was Lady Lin that bold? They released her, and she dared to sneak back in?
But in this vast Famous Scholar Mountain, where could she be hiding?
Li Wenli shook his head, "I’m sure they’ll send poison soon, and they might also take the opportunity to keep us here, considering Thousand Miles has been watching us these days."
Junjun let out a sigh. She wasn’t so concerned about whether Thousand Miles wanted to imprison her or not.
After all, they had just felt the presence of space itself.
After the others left, the two paced back and forth in the small cell again, but regrettably, they didn’t feel the fluctuation of space again.
"Could it have moved outside?" Junjun suddenly suggested, pointing at the deep corridor in front of them.
There were still cells on both sides, dark and gloomy inside. Perhaps because there were no living people, no lights were lit, making it look as terrifying as a haunted house.
However, for the two who had seen zombies, this was still considered trivial.
Junjun lightly tapped a wooden stake, and the stakes came to life again, automatically bending to the side to form a curved archway.
Junjun and Li Wenli walked out the doorway with ease.
The two searched every inch of the cell for traces of possible space fluctuations.
Junjun couldn’t figure out why they hadn’t found the Underground Palace in Fahua Temple but felt the presence of space in this intelligence agency.
It was truly strange.
The Fahua Temple and this place were miles apart, weren’t they?
Space wasn’t like Mosquito-eating Plant, how could it move so far?
Li Wenli shook his head, "Space itself floats in this world; it does not stay fixed in one place.
Perhaps the chaos of the past wars disrupted some medium here, and so it’s possible that the space fragment moved to this Famous Scholar Mountain."
Junjun nodded in understanding, "Speaking of which, do you remember half a month ago when the Minister of Rites went to pick his father’s bones and suddenly a bunch of Green Snakes appeared out of nowhere?"
"???" Li Wenli looked at Junjun in astonishment, and in a flash of insight, it seemed he understood something as well.
Indeed, they couldn’t figure out how those snakes had appeared from thin air.
If they didn’t belong to the normal world but were from within space itself and had accidentally fallen into the Minister of Rites’ father’s grave, and just happened to be encountered by the grave-diggers, that would explain everything.
Junjun had initially mentioned it casually, but even she was stunned after speaking out.
"It appears that we might have come into contact with this space fragment a long time ago, only we didn’t realize it at the time."
Thinking they might have brushed past the space fragment before, Junjun felt a wave of frustration.
Luckily, it was not too late.
The two quickened their pace, but even when they reached the end of the cells, they found no trace of space.
Instead, one of the cells further inside showed signs of recent activity, which most likely meant it had held Lady Lin.
But the room was now empty, so it seemed the old man hadn’t lied to them, and Lady Lin truly had been released.
