No sooner had the wordsleft his mouth than Li Qiumei entered from outside. Upon seeing Shen Mianmian, Li Qiumei rolled her eyes and returned to her seat with her chin tilted up.

"Mr. Chen, I should get going then."

With Li Qiumei there, it wasn’t convenient to talk, and Shen Mianmian didn’t want to delay Chen Jie from his work.

"Be careful when you’re on your own," Chen Jie warned, and he walked Shen Mianmian to the office door.

"I’ve inquired about the apartment for you. Take a nap after lunch, and I’ll take you to see the place in the afternoon," said He Nan as he brought Shen Mianmian back home. He gave her a quick briefing before leaving.

Hearing that the apartment had been found, Shen Mianmian’s eyes lit up. She didn’t need to see He Nan’s choice to trust it completely. She couldn’t quite explain why she trusted him so much.

Maybe it was because he was the first person to be so kind to her since her rebirth.

Shen Mianmian felt hopeful about the future. Finally leaving that house behind, she no longer had to live so carefully. The heavy stone in her heart had at last been lifted.

After taking a bath, she had a comfortable sleep and even dreamt of becoming a millionaire. Stretching lazily, she opened her room door only to see He Nan sitting on the sofa, reading a newspaper.

Glancing at the wall clock, it was already half-past three in the afternoon. She had slept for two and a half hours.

"Brother He, I’m sorry, I accidentally overslept. Have you been waiting long?" she asked.

"It’s okay, I only got back a short while ago." He Nan stood up as he heard her voice, putting down the newspaper, "Let’s go! I’ll take you to see the apartment."

"Maybe I should change my shoes?" Shen Mianmian wiggled her toes. She was currently wearing slippers, which wasn’t a good look for viewing an apartment.

He Nan glanced at the slippers on her feet, his eyes flickering slightly, and said seriously, "No need to trouble yourself, the apartment is very close by."

Trusting He Nan, Shen Mianmian didn’t insist on changing her shoes and followed him out. The moment they left the room, he stopped.

Thinking he had forgotten to take something, she then saw him pull out a set of keys from his pocket and, under her gaze, unlock the door across the hall.

There was an almost new sofa and coffee table in the living room, a black-and-white TV, the kitchen was well-equipped, and each of the two rooms had a bed and a wardrobe.
