Chapter 420: Chapter 420 Home of He Nan 2

The bathroom was huge, nearly as big as Zhou Siyu’s and her room combined. Inside, besides the shower, there was a large white bathtub, which genuinely surprised her.

Such a big bathtub; soaking in a hot bath in the winter must be very comfortable.

She couldn’t help but imagine him lying in the tub, and her face turned red at the thought. She quickly averted her gaze.

If He Nan knew what she was thinking, he might as well twist her head off. At that thought, she shuddered slightly; it was too terrifying.

Just as she was chasing away those messy thoughts, she heard He Nan say, "You can use the bathtub too." After a pause, he added, "I’ve never used it."

Before Shen Mianmian could respond, he led her to another door, opened it effortlessly, and revealed a desk and a large bookshelf filled with many books.

"You can read any of these books," he said.

He then showed Shen Mianmian the entrance to the kitchen and finally opened the door to the main bedroom, saying, "This is my room."

His room had the same layout as the side room, but with an additional table. Shen Mianmian glanced at it and nodded, then stopped looking around. It was He Nan’s bedroom, and she felt it would be impolite to keep staring.

He Nan gave her a look as if he had discovered something, slightly raised an eyebrow, and asked,

"Feeling hot?"

"Huh?"

Shen Mianmian was briefly stunned before realizing why he was asking. Touching her hot cheeks, she nodded vigorously, "Yes, it’s a bit hot."

As she spoke, she fanned her face with her hand a few times, letting her gaze drift around the room to cover up her embarrassment.

Knowing she felt constrained here, He Nan’s mouth curved into a slight smile, but he didn’t expose her, "It’s my fault for not being thoughtful, I forgot to turn on the fan."

He went to the wall, turned on the ceiling fan, and immediately the room filled with the sound of whirring wind, making it cooler.

Halfway through the summer, apart from the natural breeze, this was the first time she experienced a ceiling fan.

"Feel free to use anything here, no need to be shy," said He Nan as he checked the time. "I’m stepping out for a bit, will be back at six to take you out for dinner. If you’re tired, rest for a while and watch some TV."

Only then did Shen Mianmian notice that there was a color TV in the room.

Back when Zhou Siyu got married in the ’90s, she had bought a black-and-white TV. She never expected He Nan to have switched to a color TV.

"Do you know how to change channels on the TV?"

His tone was even, without any hint of condescension, just a simple concern that she might not know how to use it.

From his perspective, she likely hadn’t had the chance to use things like color TVs, so not knowing how to use it was normal.

"I do," Shen Mianmian nodded, and to prevent any doubt from He Nan, she explained, "I was with Lu Siyuan when he bought a TV; the shopkeeper showed us how to use a color TV."

He Nan nodded, and before leaving, he cautioned, "Don’t open the door for strangers."

Once he was gone, Shen Mianmian was left alone in the spacious house. She took another look around the room and noticed that apart from her things on the sofa, there was no sign that a woman had ever been there.

Not a single strand of a woman’s long hair could be found on the shiny floor.

She put the book He Nan had lent her back in its original place on the shelf and took her own clothes back to the side room to put in the closet, but did not hang them up.

This was only a temporary place He Nan had provided for her to stay, and she wouldn’t treat it like her own home, displaying a posture of settling in permanently.
