Chapter 1191: Chapter 1191 Divorce

Ruan Lingyu was silent for a moment, then said, "After divorcing your father, I no longer have ties with the Ruan family. Whether I go or not doesn’t really matter to the He family."

Ruan Yiqian replied, "Does you relationship with Aunt Fu just fade away because you’re no longer connected to the Ruan family? How will you face Aunt Fu in the future if you don’t go?"

Her question left Ruan Lingyu speechless. "I’ll go when the time comes."

Hearing this, Ruan Yiqian breathed a sigh of relief. "Mom, I have other commitments tomorrow, so I won’t accompany you to the Civil Affairs Bureau. Even though you’re divorcing, I still hope both you and dad can treat each other with dignity."

His intention was simple, a reminder for them not to start fighting.

"Now that we’re divorced, he and I will be strangers from now on; what’s there to argue about?" Ruan Lingyu said.

Getting up, Ruan Yiqian said, "Alright, then have an early rest!"

With that, he went upstairs.

Looking around the empty living room, Ruan Lingyu suddenly felt very lonely. When she was younger, she hadn’t felt this way, but as she aged, the fear of loneliness grew, particularly when she watched He Xiaobei happily playing at Fu Hua’s house; the feeling intensified.

She indeed was getting old.

Ruan Lingyu sighed.

The next morning, Ruan Feng was waiting at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau for Fu Hua. She arrived leisurely around nine thirty, and upon seeing Ruan Feng, she mocked, "Eager for the divorce, huh? Been waiting long, have you?"

"Not really, just arrived." Ruan Feng wasn’t keen on arguing with Ruan Lingyu, so he wasn’t angered by her attitude.

Ruan Lingyu scoffed, "Finally, you’re getting what you wished for. You happy now?"

"At this age, there’s nothing to be happy about coming here," Ruan Feng said.

Ruan Lingyu, taken aback, entered the Civil Affairs Bureau with a stern face, followed by Ruan Feng who wasn’t expecting to get divorced at such an age. The officials there eyed them with a bit of curiosity. Throughout the procedure, Ruan Lingyu maintained a stern expression, whereas Ruan Feng seemed unfazed.

They quickly completed the divorce proceedings and left. Ruan Feng glanced at his watch and said, "Let’s go have lunch together! It’s been years since we last sat down and shared a meal."

"You really don’t want to see me, right? Of course, you wouldn’t think of eating at home." Despite her mocking tone, Ruan Lingyu didn’t refuse to dine together.

They found a nearby noodle shop and each ordered a bowl of noodles. Ruan Feng reminisced, "Back when we were students, I used to take you out for noodles frequently."

Ruan Feng was three years older than Ruan Lingyu. When he was in school, Ruan Lingyu was just a few years old and often followed behind calling him "brother."

Reflecting on this, Ruan Lingyu had a softer expression on her face. "The noodles back then were much tastier than now."

During that era, the standard of living wasn’t as good as it is now. Ruan Lingyu had always been grateful for the Ruan family’s support; otherwise, she wouldn’t know what her life would have been like.

"Decades have gone by in a blink," Ruan Feng said with a smile. "I never thought that the next time we’d go out for noodles together would be decades later."

Ruan Lingyu was adorable as a child; Ruan Feng always treated her like a younger sister, which is why he so strongly resisted when his family suggested he marry her.

Ruan Lingyu said, "If I had known back then that I would end up marrying and then divorcing you, I would not have followed you around calling you brother."
