Chapter 123. Naming Record

Chapter 123: 123. Naming Record

Originally, Su Hongying was thinking of sending the two children to her mother’s place, leaving the family affairs to her brother-in-law. She planned to stay with her husband at her sister-in-law’s place for a month or so, and only discuss things after Lian Yue had recovered after childbirth.

Otherwise, with a new mom and a non-biological dad, she wouldn’t feel at ease if she wasn’t around to help out.

No way around it, since the in-laws passed away early, there are hardly any older family members on the Lian family side. Underneath, as the sister-in-law, Lian Hai’s wife shouldn’t always be hanging around in front of her brother-in-law, not to mention the small injured Lian Jie at home, the little Lian Jia, and a whole load of household chores. Lian Yue herself is pregnant; it’s impressive enough if someone cares for her, there’s no way she could come over to help Shuzhen with postpartum recovery.

With only three close female relatives, and two of them inconvenient, she naturally felt responsible for taking care of her sister-in-law during her postpartum recovery!

And the result...

After three days of care, Su Hongying just wanted to say "haha."

The new mom sister-in-law had no signs of inexperience in taking care of the baby. Feeding, changing nappies, wiping excrement, even burping — truly no hesitation whatsoever.

Su Hongying had the mistaken impression that she was not taking care of a first-time mom at all.

The new mom could take good care of the baby, and her sister-in-law’s husband could take good care of her sister-in-law, the newly mom.

Brewing soup, making all kinds of egg dishes, meticulously preparing meals — four meals a day, nutritious and delicious and never leaving leftovers for Shuzhen. Because the doctor said in the hospital that those leftovers contain excess nitrites, not good for new mothers.

Cooking, washing clothes, cleaning hands and feet, dumping the chamber pot; anything related to Shuzhen, Lianshan handled personally without delegating to anyone.

Even the little one’s nappies, Lianshan rushed to wash them.

The little one was raised healthy and sturdy, while the sister-in-law was meticulously cared for by Lianshan.

Except occasionally, the sister-in-law was indifferent to her child, furrowing her brow intently, with a hint of deep disgust in her eyes.

But no wonder, who could blame the child for not having much resemblance?

In barely three days’ time, those long, narrow phoenix eyes, straight little nose faintly showed the outline of his birth father, Dai Weiguo.

Originally, there was a thought of aborting, and seeing the child resemble that heartless Dai Weiguo, how could the sister-in-law be fond of him – that’s the real oddity!

Su Hongying sighed in her heart: adults committing sins, yet letting the child suffer. She wanted to say something to Shuzhen, but considering she was still in recovery, Su Hongying could only swallow her words, sighing a silent "there’s more time ahead." After all, the child was a piece of flesh from the mother’s body after ten months of pregnancy, maybe in a while, the sister-in-law will gradually come around.

Feeling increasingly like she was wasting food, having no further use, Su Hongying could only bring her silly husband home after Lianshan once again guaranteed he could take good care of Shuzhen and the baby.

After respectfully sending off the second brother-in-law couple, Lianshan fully took over the duties of caring for his wife’s postpartum recovery.

Besides preparing four meals a day; feeding chickens, growing earthworms, cultivating fungus, and tending to the small greens in the earthworm shelves.

After the parsley, rapeseed, spinach, chives, and other small vegetables were sold at a good price at the winter market, Lianshan became even more meticulous: "After all, I am a father now! Fathers must set good examples, and work hard to earn money for their son’s future bride!"

Faced with her silly husband’s sincere and pure-eyed gaze, Shuzhen couldn’t help but sigh, increasingly determined to educate the little rascal into a dutiful son. Otherwise, in ten years or so, when those vile, childless people come back to grab him, and with that shallow-mindedness for so-called future, renouncing relatives for outsiders; won’t this silly man be too disappointed and heartbroken?

Even distanced by a generation, Shuzhen still remembers when the little ingrate left with his scoundrel father, her husband suppressing his heartache while trying to comfort her in various ways.

Just so he wouldn’t suffer again, Shuzhen felt she must firmly manage the future direction of disciplined education and tight family development.

Harboring such thoughts, she smiled broadly after seeing the list Lianshan painstakingly compiled after scouring the dictionary, full of auspicious words like Rui, Xi, Bo, Zhi, Jun, Ying for her to choose a name.

"My husband’s careful selection, surely any name has good meaning and sounds particularly classy. But I still think these don’t suit this little brat!"

Seeing his wife again call the son a little brat with disdain in her eyes, Lianshan disapprovingly frowned.

Yet considering her still frail post-natal body despite all the nourishing, thinking of the suffering from childbirth and the betrayal, harm brought by the child’s birth father.

Lianshan eventually swallowed back the persuasion on his lips, not being his wife, he can never fully empathize with the injuries and blows she suffered. No grounds, nor wish to force her to say anything about letting go and forgiving, only plans to show extra care for this poor child.

After all, blood ties run deep, and in time, the wife would naturally get closer to the child.

"So, do you have any ideas then? Adjusting his mood, Lianshan chuckled, full of indulgence.

"Parental favor is as mighty as a mountain, how about calling him Enshan! Let him learn gratitude from childhood, always remembering to be thankful and never forgetting his roots. If his virtues are good, I won’t worry he’ll become an ingrate, right?" Shuzhen clapped, very satisfied with the brilliant name idea she came up with.

Upon hearing this, Lianshan’s face turned dark: "Are you serious? Although Enshan is a superb name, your husband is named Lianshan!"

Shuzhen snickered: "Hehe, well, didn’t I just get carried away with excitement about the name ideas and forget about it!

Quickly, my generous and kind-hearted husband, don’t get angry, let’s drop the taboo word and simply call him Lian En, okay?

It carries my full hope, a single character like Jiezi, Jiajia, all immediately indicating familial connections."

Pretending to be angry didn’t stop his wife from linking the child’s name to gratitude and not becoming an ingrate. Lianshan was helpless; if his wife insisted, besides compromise, he had no choice but to compromise.

With a bit of apology, he glanced at the little one sleeping sweetly on the bed, utterly unaware but already burdened by his unfortunate biological father’s troubles: Sorry son, dad has tried his best.
