But he must be dissuaded from wanting to have her.
The second option is to go along and start a family with him. Actually, this is the most beneficial for herself.
Honestly, Wei Kaiyun is indeed very charming, with that successful person’s aura of being in charge.
She also fears she won’t be able to control herself, falling for him seems inevitable.
Jiang Xinyu thought it through and decided to choose the path that benefits her the most.
Avoiding the story smoothly, the two could live happily together. If not, if she can’t dodge it, then it’s worth it—she’d have a man and a family in this lifetime.
Give it a try. Although she initially saw him as a partner, if they could really become a family, take it a step further, it’s not unacceptable.
Wei Kaiyun was driving, glancing sidelong at Jiang Xinyu’s expression, but couldn’t discern anything from her face. However, it felt like she figured it out as she relaxed her body.
Once Jiang Xinyu figured it out, she felt unburdened and slowly fell asleep.
Wei Kaiyun was utterly amused and exasperated; how carefree she is to fall asleep at this moment.
No choice but to park and wait, pulled a quilt from the back to wrap Jiang Xinyu carefully. With the car’s temperature not too high, he feared she’d catch a cold.
Feeling reassured, just like he said, the path ahead will be taken with full effort, and as for the outcome? Leave it to fate.
Turning his face to look at the girl beside him, she looked even smaller while asleep. A palm-sized face, no matter how he looked, she was still a child. Ridiculing himself in his heart, what a beast.
However, he was smiling, a genuine smile, realizing he’d finally have a wife.
Jiang Xinyu was jolted awake, "Where are we now?"
"We’ve left our city. Wake up, you’ll drive in a bit. On such roads, driving is more comfortable than sitting."
"Okay, stop, we’ll switch."
Jiang Xinyu felt driving was indeed more comfortable than sitting, and being highly focused left no space for stray thoughts.
"You don’t have to watch me; you can sleep for a while. When you wake up, we’ll eat."
"Haha, do you know the way?"
"What’s difficult about that? Just follow the big road heading west."
"Right, the general direction is correct. Then I’ll sleep. Call me at any uncertain junctions."
Wei Kaiyun couldn’t fall asleep at all. He reclined his seat, covered himself with a quilt, and watched his wife’s side profile with open eyes.
It wasn’t until past one in the afternoon that they stopped for a meal before continuing their journey.
In the evening, Jiang Xinyu drove during the first half of the night, afraid she couldn’t hold on for the latter half.
"It’s okay; I can go alone. It’s just this little road."
"It’s better not to. Few cars on the road, I can handle driving. I’m already speeding up to sixty miles. Rest assured and sleep, or you’ll easily doze off later."
At eleven, Wei Kaiyun woke up, "Let me drive, you sleep."
"It’s okay, I’m not sleepy yet."
"Only more sleep can make you grow taller."
What did he mean by that? Is he disliking her height?
When Jiang Xinyu woke up, they had arrived at the Capital. The roads here were significantly easier to navigate.
"Awake? We’ll be in the city in an hour. I’ll arrange for you to stay at a hotel while I meet someone."
"Okay, you can drop me at the hotel entrance. I’ll handle the check-in myself."
"Alright, that works too."
Jiang Xinyu folded the quilt neatly and placed it on the back seat. Once they reached the city area, Wei Kaiyun stopped in front of a hotel. "Got all your documents like the introduction letter?"
"Yep, everything’s with me. You go ahead with your business." Jiang Xinyu got out of the car with her bag.
She’d never stayed in a hotel before and awkwardly handed over her household registration booklet.
"Introduction letter."
She handed it over again.
"How many days will you stay?"
"Two days for now."
"Three cents per day, a two-yuan deposit, an additional two-yuan deposit for a hot water bottle."
Jiang Xinyu handed over five yuan, got eighty cents back, and a key.
"You’re staying on the second floor. There’s hot water all day, but a pot of hot water is two cents."
Jiang Xinyu nodded, then went upstairs. The key tag said 205. She found it and opened the door.
Inside were two single beds with slightly yellowed sheets.
Hurriedly, she grabbed the kettle from the room, went down to get a hot water bottle, needing to freshen up.
Once she had the hot water, she locked the door, pulled out her basin, poured the water, felt it was insufficient. She went down for another pot of cold water and one of hot water, then washed her hair and wiped her body.
Once she cleaned up the wet spots in the room, she spread out an old sheet of hers, followed by her bedding. Her hair had already dried by then, and once she was in bed, she fell asleep in no time.
She slept for a long time, waking up only at two in the afternoon, feeling a bit hungry.
She tidied up, went down to get water to wash up, then settled in her room for a meal.
She simply ate a sugar bun and a bag of milk.
Seeing the time, it still wasn’t three yet. Wondering why Wei Kaiyun hadn’t returned.
Eventually, she decided not to wait. Decided to go out and take a walk. Coming to the Capital wasn’t easy; it would be a shame to stay cooped up in the room.
After going downstairs, she specifically informed the front desk that if anyone looked for her, tell them she went out for a stroll.
Jiang Xinyu didn’t have much money left and wanted to buy a sweater and pants, so she asked a passerby for the location of the mall and headed straight there.
Upon seeing it, wow, it was five stories high.
On the first floor, she marvelled, feeling really like a country bumpkin in the city, as it was much more comprehensive than her city’s mall.
After circling once, she didn’t have the nerve to ask. Seeing others buying things, she realized it was just like the city mall where tickets were specific to the Capital area, and she didn’t have any.
Feeling a bit down, what to do? She thought even if she couldn’t buy, she should at least check it out; the second floor was for fabric clothing.
Jiang Xinyu wandered around, found no sweaters or pants, but there were cashmere ones.
These were really good things, even without touching, they looked particularly soft and warm.
Ultimately, she couldn’t resist, "Comrade, how much is a pair of cashmere pants?"
"Twenty-two, no need for cloth tickets. It’s pure cashmere."
"And a cashmere top? How much is it?"
"Twenty-eight each, also no need for cloth tickets."
Both would be fifty; truly not cheap, almost a month and a half’s salary. Yet she gritted her teeth and bought them.
She’d never seen them in her city’s mall.
Contentedly holding two pieces of clothing, but no packaging, she took out a cloth bag from her shoulder bag—one she made herself, as she had made a few during free time due to the lack of plastic bags.
This time she truly was out of money, the salary hadn’t been paid yet; what to do now? Everything looked good.
Feeling uneasy with no money in her hands, she had no choice but to return. The feeling was unbearable.
Back at the hotel, Wei Kaiyun had not returned yet. Decided to head out again, wondering if she could exchange some money. Not sure if the Capital had a black market, but a hundred kilograms of rice could solve many of her problems.
