Chapter 62 satisfied
Chapter 62: 62 satisfied
Wei Kaiyun still didn’t say a word. He was the youngest here, and by quite a margin. These people were not satisfied with this young man sitting on equal footing with them, but he was sent from above, so they had no choice but to accept it even if they didn’t like it.
Jiang Xinyu secretly checked the time; it was already one o’clock, and there was no sign of it ending. She was hungry.
She took out a piece of candy from her pocket and handed it to Qian Jun, then nudged Wei Kaiyun’s chair. He turned around, and Jiang Xinyu handed him a piece of candy from the side, then she put one in her own mouth as well.
Qian Jun found it quite amusing; he had accompanied Director Wei in meetings without eating or drinking for an entire day in the past, and had never thought to bring food.
Being a girl must be better; holding candy in her mouth, watching the show was quite enjoyable.
Wei Kaiyun held Jiang Xinyu’s hand and felt something in his palm. After a glance, he saw it was a piece of candy. He bent down and put it into his mouth — not bad, in the future, he’d ask her to prepare more.
The city’s leader looked at the time; the meeting yielded no real results and was filled with complaints without any meaningful proposals.
"Alright, stop complaining and tell us what solutions you have."
The conference room went silent again. What solutions could there possibly be?
The President of the General Union coughed, "Everyone speak freely, one mind may come up short, but perhaps together we can find a good solution."
The room went completely silent, Jiang Xinyu lowered her head and snickered, noticing the person who had been crying earlier now lowered their head even more.
The city leader saw that this wouldn’t do, "Speak one by one, starting from the first."
The few who liked to show off were left dumbfounded, but when the leader spoke, they had no choice but to stand up. They fumbled around but didn’t say anything substantial.
Wei Kaiyun was fifth on the list, Jiang Xinyu leaned forward and softly asked, "Director Wei, have you thought of something yet?"
"No, you write me something, and I’ll read it out later."
Jiang Xinyu didn’t have time to criticize him now and immediately began writing.
The leader coming to this meeting was actually not very meaningful; the big situation was there, what solution could an individual possibly have?
Jiang Xinyu wrote about the textile factory’s raw materials, her idea was about waste reprocessing, not sure if it could be researched.
Actually, this idea isn’t very mature; even sterilization is difficult, but at least it’s a start.
She finished writing in ten minutes, tore off the paper and handed it to Wei Kaiyun, at the end she wrote for him to memorize it.
Wei Kaiyun took it and was a bit surprised, so fast?
He glanced through it from start to finish, thinking this was a possible solution — underestimated this girl.
Another hour passed before it was Wei Kaiyun’s turn.
He stood up and recited the draft Jiang Xinyu had given him, not missing a word.
"Good, very good, Director Wei’s proposal is excellent."
"Leader, this idea isn’t mature either, finding worn-out clothes and whatnot is challenging, but I will establish this research group."
"Good, if you encounter any difficulties, come to me.
You all need to learn from Director Wei, he genuinely considers these matters seriously; you are all servants of the state and the people, you should make a difference."
Jiang Xinyu was a bit scared after hearing the leader’s words, wondering if she had caused trouble for Wei Kaiyun.
She instinctively took out another candy and handed it to Wei Kaiyun.
With candy in his mouth, Wei Kaiyun found it amusing — this girl was really timid. But this was good; it gave him more room to maneuver.
The rest went much faster, filled with meaningless chatter.
It was four o’clock in the afternoon when the leader finally announced the meeting’s end.
The three got into the car, Jiang Xinyu quickly handed both Qian Jun and Wei Kaiyun a piece of candy, then put one in her mouth too.
"Director Wei, are meetings always like this?"
"No, it’s only like this for such city-level collective meetings."
"And there’s no lunch provided."
Qian Jun laughed, "They used to provide lunch, but they stopped last year."
"Secretary Jiang, you can go straight home."
"Thank you, Director Wei."
The car stopped in front of Jiang Xinyu’s home, she quickly went inside; with the leader’s approval, she could blatantly leave early, which was wonderful.
She had just lit the stove when she heard a knock on the door. "Director Wei, what brings you here?"
"To have dinner, of course. I refrained from getting off the car with you just to not affect you."
Jiang Xinyu thought to herself, so this is why he was being so considerate.
Once inside the yard, "Director Wei, what would you like to eat?"
"Whatever you make I’ll eat."
"Alright, there’s still some eggs; rice and steamed egg custard, cabbage stewed with vermicelli it is."
"Great, do you need my help?"
"No need, I can manage by myself."
"Okay, I’ll read the documents."
Jiang Xinyu resignedly started cooking; scooping rice was quick, cabbage stewed with vermicelli too slow, so she simply cut a piece of meat and stir-fried it with cabbage.
After forty minutes, the two of them ate.
Jiang Xinyu deliberately pushed the dish of vermicelli closer to Wei Kaiyun.
After the meal, both had a bowl of rice soup with added sugar. Wei Kaiyun said his goodbyes, and Jiang Xinyu realized it was getting late, checked the time, stoked the stove, did some simple washing, and went to bed.
The bedding was too cold, so she took out the down quilt from the space, used half to lay on, half to cover.
The next day, she was in the office by seven.
She picked up a broom to sweep the floor, then wiped clean all three desks, and filled the thermos with water.
At seven thirty, Qian Jun arrived, "Secretary Jiang, good morning!"
"Good morning, Secretary Qian!"
Wei Kaiyun also came in, "Secretary Jiang, write a motivational letter later."
"Yes, Director Wei, isn’t that the union’s responsibility?"
"Come in, I’ll explain."
After half an hour, Jiang Xinyu sat in her own seat and began writing furiously.
Another half an hour later, she took two sheets of filled paper to show Wei Kaiyun.
"Very good, send this to the union, let them take responsibility."
The entire morning, Jiang Xinyu was busy, finally it was time for lunch; she grabbed her lunchbox and went to the cafeteria.
Wang Ailing arrived earlier than Jiang Xinyu, had already finished getting her meal, and luckily found a table. "Xinyu!"
"Sis, wait for a moment, I’ll come join you."
The cafeteria supplied multigrain buns, shredded radish shrimp soup for lunch.
Jiang Xinyu got a scoop of soup with a bun resting on top of her lunchbox lid.
"Xinyu, is one bun enough?"
"Yes, it’s enough for me; are you not satisfied?"
"I’m satisfied, I have two buns each meal."
"You work hard, of course, you get hungry fast and eat more."
The two had not yet finished eating when Kong Mengjie carried her lunchbox over.
"Xinyu, Ailing, I’m here to join you for lunch."
Wang Ailing twitched her mouth; she’s squeezing in with us, talking in such a patronizing tone?
Jiang Xinyu smiled and nodded, drank her last gulp of soup, stood up, "I’m full; you can have the seat."
