Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Disgust (Five Updates)

Wang Aihua’s face changed instantly, looking incredulously at the clothes. This child’s clothing uses less fabric, so how could it be even more expensive than an adult’s?

"You’re not tricking me, are you? These clothes are so expensive?" Wang Aihua examined the clothes from every angle, and aside from looking a bit nicer than the ones she had seen before, she couldn’t find anything wrong with them.

"You are my sister-in-law; I wouldn’t deceive you even if I deceived anyone else. These clothes are really that expensive. Look at this fabric, it’s all wool, and the craftsmanship is all top-notch wool as well." Tang Mingli spoke confidently and fluently, leaving Wang Aihua utterly baffled.

Wang Aihua hinted overtly and covertly that Tang Mingli should gift the clothes to Xiao Min, but Tang Mingli acted as if he didn’t understand and, regardless of which piece she took a fancy to, the price he quoted was enough to scare anyone to death.

"Mingli, Xiao Min is your biological niece, while Xiao Yue isn’t even your second brother’s own flesh and blood," Wang Aihua reminded him, her words laden with insinuation: "Although Tang Yue bears the Tang surname, she’s not of Tang Family blood after all."

"Sister-in-law, whether Xiao Yue is his own or not doesn’t matter. What’s important is that we all treat her as Zhengde’s biological daughter," Tang Mingli stated assuredly.

In the end, Wang Aihua didn’t gain anything.

Wang Aihua left with a belly full of anger and went to complain to Tang Zhengyuan, only to be berated by him instead: "Today, they just paid us the medical fees; do you think their money is blown in by the wind?"

"The clothes have to be sold to someone. Look at how nice Xiao Yue’s clothes are. To give one to Xiao Min, why not?" Wang Aihua muttered, still fuming inwardly, and said, "You should have seen how he acted, treating me like I was invisible. Quoting one price for this, another for that—it’s like he was afraid I’d steal them."

"Just be content, and we’ll talk after I’ve treated my leg," Tang Zhengyuan said, taking a puff of his cigarette and causing Wang Aihua to cough from the smoke.

Wang Aihua asked, "Zheng Yuan, if your leg really can’t do heavy lifting, what will we do in the future?"

"What, you think I’m useless now, can’t earn money anymore?" Tang Zhengyuan narrowed his eyes.

Wang Aihua quickly shook her head.

During dinner, Wang Aihua talked around and about Tang Mingli, but she was the only one speaking. Even Tang Zhengyuan kept quiet. No matter how much she said, it was all in vain. The issue just faded away lightly.

Tang Mingli snorted inwardly, thinking that if anyone tried to get free clothes from him, they could think again.

They had already given away clothes for the New Year, and now they wanted more? Did they really think the clothes he paid good money for were just picked up from the street?

The next day, Wang Aihua still didn’t want to leave. Tang Zhengde and Zhang Hualian were too busy running around to pay much attention to Tang Zhengyuan and Zhang Hualian.

Wang Aihua said enviously, "Zheng Yuan, guess how much money they’re making in a day?"

"No matter how much they earn, it’s none of your business," Tang Zhengyuan replied impatiently. Despite being the eldest brother, he saw both his younger brothers living better than him. With a useless leg now, Tang Zhengyuan felt even worse inside.

"Do you think if we opened a breakfast shop too, we’d also have such good business?" Wang Aihua said, sitting in the yard, watching the endless stream of people going to the shop for breakfast, her heart stirring with eagerness.

"With your cooking skills, after people eat it once, they won’t come back for a second time," said Tang Zhengyuan, his words carrying a hint of disdain.

When Zhang Hualian first married into the family, her cooking wasn’t good either, but over the years, her meals have improved significantly.

Only Wang Aihua, even after so many years, had made no progress at all.

For lunch, Wang Aihua tried various ways to pry information, but Zhang Hualian, forewarned by Tang Yue, gave vague answers.

In the afternoon, Tang Zhengde took Tang Zhengyuan back to their village. Upon reaching the town, Tang Zhengde specifically borrowed a flatbed trolley to push Tang Zhengyuan back and, after resting a bit, hurried off to the county.

Tang Mingli’s ’Mingyue Clothing Store,’ even before the official opening, was already doing very well. Initially, Tang Mingli worried that the children’s clothing was too expensive, but when he actually started selling them, he realized that the profit margins were higher than that of women’s wear, and they were even easier to sell.

Many people buying clothes for their children do so without batting an eyelid. Even though that wool coat for Tang Yue was priced high, it sold within a day. Some hesitated because of the price, but then the coat got sold, and many urged Tang Mingli to restock.

People are like this; when no one buys, they feel the price is too high. But once the item sells out and they can’t find it anywhere in the county, they regret not purchasing.

Upon seeing this, Tang Mingli immediately went to find Tang Yue. With the recent busy days, he hadn’t transported Tang Yue’s clothes over.

During Tang Yue’s lunch break, Tang Mingli discussed the matter with her. She took out three clothing design drafts and said, "Uncle Ming, give these drafts to Sister Deng, and make sure to remind her to stitch the ’My’ logo, right here on the left chest."

This English lettering had been artistically beautified, looking like a flower with a large ’M’ and a petite, clinging ’y’, particularly eye-catching.

Tang Yue also noted that the logo had to be hand-stitched, which although more troublesome, was essential.

Tang Yue wished she wasn’t a student so she could handle these matters herself.

"Okay, Xiao Yue, these designs look pretty good, but can Deng Lanhua understand them?" Tang Mingli looked at the drafts with indecipherable numbers.

"She can," Tang Yue nodded. Sister Deng, who had made a couple of clothes already, could fully comprehend her markings. Besides, she had marked everything in great detail. She reminded him, "Uncle Ming, remember to give a deposit."

"I know, do you think your uncle is incapable of handling this?" Tang Mingli had changed dramatically over six months; he had become much calmer, more confident, and more mature.

Tang Yue assessed Tang Mingli, pondering Qi Yufei, who would likely regret leaving her uncle in the future.

After packing everything, Tang Mingli suddenly remembered he had brought Tang Yue some rice candy. He handed her the bag and said, "Xiao Yue, here is your favorite rice candy. Have some as a snack, but don’t eat it at night or blame me if you lose a tooth."

"Hehe, thanks, Uncle Ming," Tang Yue said, popping a white candy into her mouth, "Don’t worry, if I lose a tooth, I won’t blame you. I’ll just make you pay for the dental work."

Tang Mingli: ...
