Chapter 68: Chapter 68 Embrace and Offer a Hug
Third day of the Lunar New Year.
"Big sis, let’s go set off firecrackers, it’s so much fun. You’re always buried in books. It’s fine on regular days, but why are you still reading during the New Year?" Tang Jun dragged Tang Yue out to play with firecrackers.
Right by the riverside, they threw the lit firecrackers into the river, and soon they exploded into sprays of water.
Tang Yue wasn’t very brave. When she stood by and watched Tang Jun play, she reminded him several times, "Xiao Jun, throw it quickly, what if the firecracker explodes in your hand?"
"Sis, it’s fine, these firecrackers take a long time to go off." Tang Jun lit the firecrackers and shook them in his hand before tossing them into the water.
With a ’bang’, water splashed in all directions.
Tang Jun excitedly said, "Big sis, watch from the side and see if any fish come out."
"You’re dreaming, can you really catch fish like this?" Tang Yue couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Could such small firecrackers really blow fish out of the water when thrown in?
Why didn’t she believe it?
"We can." Tang Jun nodded excitedly and said, "Last year, we did catch fish, and even made a bowl of fish soup."
"Really?" Tang Yue looked at Tang Jun skeptically, trying hard to remember, but she couldn’t recall any instance when Tang Jun caught fish like that.
Tang Jun’s face turned red and he said, "We made the fish soup at Mo Weidong’s house."
Back then, he and Tang Yue weren’t very close.
"Oh." Tang Yue nodded in understanding and praised, "Xiao Jun, keep it up. If you catch lots of fish, I’ll make you fish soup."
"We’ll definitely catch some." Tang Jun looked undoubtedly certain, and as Mo Weidong approached from the distance, Tang Jun shouted excitedly.
Next, Tang Jun and Mo Weidong started catching fish with the fireworks.
Other boys in the village also bought some, but they didn’t get much New Year’s money, so they couldn’t buy a lot.
But this year, Tang Jun was happy with the several dollars of New Year’s money he received from Tang Zhengde and Tang Mingli, and Mo Weidong’s house, always generous, provided pocket money too so they had plenty of fireworks to play with.
Tang Jun kept chatting with Tang Yue from time to time.
Tang Yue sat by the side, watching Tang Jun skillfully set off firecrackers, and felt a little more at ease.
After the New Year, Tang Jun turned thirteen, a time of growth for a thirteen-year-old boy. The youthful yet unspoiled face, with its radiant and pure smile, was unforgettable.
The excitement in Tang Jun’s eyes radiated from within, and she couldn’t help being infected by it.
"Sis, quick, get the fishing net. I really caught a fish." Tang Jun said excitedly, dancing with joy.
Tang Yue quickly stood up, and when she saw the belly-up crucian carp, she too got excited. She picked up the fishing net wanting to scoop it up, but it was so cold that her hands were numb and wouldn’t cooperate.
Tang Jun snatched the fishing net and began to scoop.
After catching the crucian carp, although the fish was only the size of two fingers, it was incredibly exciting for them.
Tang Yue joked, "Xiao Jun, if you want to make a bowl of soup with this, I’m afraid the money spent on firecrackers could have bought a bowl of fish already."
"Big sis, we had fun and caught fish too, isn’t that great?" Tang Jun pursed his lips, looking determined to catch more fish.
Tang Yue smiled and praised, "Xiao Jun, keep it up, your sister believes in you."
After speaking, Tang Yue pointed to the grassland behind her, where rice was being sun-dried, and said, "Xiao Jun, I’m going to go over there and bask in the sun."
"Oh, I’ll call you when I fish up another one," Tang Jun seriously focused on fishing.
Tang Yue walked over and sat down on the lawn, which was the height of an adult taller than the riverbank. Overlooking from such a height, the view was so open and comfortable that she couldn’t help but lie down.
"Big sis, I fished up another one."
"Bang."
"Big sis, Weidong also got one."
’Bang’
The sound of firecrackers exploding in the water never ceased, as she lay on the lawn, listening to Tang Jun’s excited voice from time to time.
The weather was great today; the sun was shining bright, and there was no wind. Tang Yue was lying comfortably with her eyes closed, completely unaware of anyone approaching.
Suddenly, it seemed like the sunlight had disappeared. Tang Yue thought to herself, could it be that the sun was getting overcast?
The weather today was clear with not a cloud in sight; it shouldn’t turn bad.
Tang Yue opened her eyes and, against the sun, that tall figure blocked all her sunlight.
Tang Yue subconsciously sat up, raising her hand to block the light. The silhouette was unclear in the backlight.
"Mr. Mo?"
Tang Yue blinked in disbelief, rubbed her eyes as if she thought she was dreaming, but the figure remained there. The sharp and handsome features were instantly recognizable.
"Uncle Mo," Mo Siyu corrected. Her incredulous look, as if she were in a dream, pleased him, and the corners of his lips lifted imperceptibly.
"Uncle Mo," Tang Yue blurted out subconsciously. She stood up in a fluster, but since she had been lying down for a while and the light was dazzling, and she was in a rush, she didn’t stand firmly and threw herself towards Mo Siyu.
Mo Siyu opened his arms to steady her, completely oblivious to the fact that Mo Xiaolin, who had come with him, had witnessed this scene and was shocked, her eyes nearly popping out. Where had her son, who was indifferent to women and always kept at least a meter away from them, gone?
And now he even knew how to catch someone?
Mo Xiaolin initially wanted to visit the Qin family with her sister-in-law Zheng Chunhong, to see if the Qin family’s daughter was as good as her sister-in-law had said and worthy of her son.
But she certainly didn’t expect to see this scene.
Zheng Chunhong whispered to Mo Xiaolin, "Xiaolin, this girl is the second child’s stepdaughter of the Tang family, Tang Yue. Her grades are said to be very good, she just started senior high school."
Senior high school, so she was only about sixteen or seventeen. That age seems a bit young.
Mo Xiaolin shifted her thoughts away.
Tang Yue, who fell into Mo Siyu’s arms, did not notice that Mrs. Mo, who she had been thinking about, had appeared and seen the whole scene.
"Um, it’s been a while, isn’t throwing yourself into my arms a bit too enthusiastic?" Mo Siyu’s low voice carried a hint of teasing. Her scent was very clean and fresh, making him not oppose it.
"No," Tang Yue quickly denied. She pushed him away and stood up straight, her eyes so frantic that she didn’t know where to look, her face as red as a boiled shrimp, her nervousness making her speech stumbling. "This, this was just, an accident."
"Really?" Mo Siyu scrutinized her. Since their last meeting, she seemed to have grown three centimeters taller. Her slim figure had developed nicely in certain areas in comparison to before.
Her blushing cheeks made her panicked and shy eyes particularly attractive. He cleared his throat and said, "Where is your uncle Qi?"
The little girl was too easy to tease; if he continued, she would probably run away whenever she saw him in the future.
"I don’t know," Tang Yue shook her head, looking around. When she saw the two women nearby, she was startled. Surely, no one had seen what had just happened!
