Chapter 205: Chapter 205: You’ll Never Get It in This Lifetime

Granny Tang sat at the head of the table, she had always known that Wang Aihua was difficult to deal with, but she didn’t expect the daughter she raised to be equally temperamental. On the first day of the Chinese New Year, she was pointing fingers at her elders and accusing them of being unfair. Did she have any respect left for her elders?

"You gave Tang Yue more clothes," Tang Min said jealously as she looked towards Tang Yue.

Wang Aihua pulled Tang Min, signaling her not to speak, but this only fueled the rage in Tang Min’s heart. "Mom, am I wrong to say that?"

"Xiao Min," Wang Aihua saw that both Tang Zhengyuan and Granny Tang’s expressions were not looking good, and hurriedly stood up, trying to pull Tang Min into the room.

Tang Min struggled and did not comply, her eyes red, staring at Tang Mingli with a look demanding an explanation.

"Slap."

Granny Tang slammed her hand down on the table, causing the bowls and chopsticks to clatter.

"Xiao Min, go back to your room," Tang Zhengyuan said with a gloomy face.

But Granny Tang interrupted, "Let’s settle this today to avoid any accusations of favoritism. Tang Min, you think your uncle Mingli gives clothes and watches to Xiao Yue, but didn’t your second uncle ever give anything to your uncle?"

"Before your uncle got married, he ate at your second uncle’s house every day, and your second aunt was the one washing his clothes. We’ll dismiss these minor things, but since your second uncle and second aunt treated your uncle well, it’s only right for your uncle to reciprocate. Although Granny Tang is old, she is very clear about many things, and she continued, "Your dad fell and hurt his leg before, and even for his current job, if it wasn’t for your uncle, do you think your dad could have found such a good position?"

"Your parents haven’t given anything to your uncle; your mom even damaged your uncle’s machine. How is it, your uncle didn’t hold it against you out of consideration for their brotherly relationship and still bought clothes for Xiao Min and Xiao Xian, and still, you’re not satisfied?"

Tang Zhengyuan, being called out, blushed with embarrassment, feeling as if he had lost all face.

"Mom, that’s not what I meant," Tang Zhengyuan hastily explained, fearing that Tang Mingli too had gotten the wrong impression, saying, "Mingli, I’m truly grateful in my heart, and I definitely don’t feel ungrateful."

"That’s right," Wang Aihua echoed.

"Xiao Min, go apologize to your uncle right now," Wang Aihua dragged Tang Min to apologize, while saying, "Kids don’t understand things."

Wang Aihua had thick skin, even under such circumstances, she still made excuses for Tang Min.

Tang Mingli wore a somber expression, clearly unhappy at heart. He sat down and, without giving Tang Min a glance, carefully asked Wei Jiajia what dish she would like to eat.

Wei Jiajia, with a worried look in her eyes, followed Tang Mingli’s lead and casually mentioned a dish.

Tang Zhengde didn’t say a word.

Zhang Hualian was silent as well.

Tang Yue remained quiet. Tang Min’s words only made her feel amused deep down. Why should Tang Min assume that if her uncle gave to her, he should do the same for Tang Min?

Relationships between people are mutual; no one is obliged to be kind to someone else for no reason. Even if the bond is as thick as blood, with the actions of Wang Aihua and Tang Min, any familial love can be completely consumed.

The sumptuous dinner ended amidst such an awkward atmosphere.

After dinner, entertaining programs played on the television, and the family sat together. Tang Zhengyuan had severely reprimanded Tang Min, being both placating and remorseful, fearing that Tang Mingli and Tang Zhengde were upset in their hearts.

Outside the house, Tang Min cried alone in the courtyard; Tang Jun secretly slipped out to find her, smugly saying, "Tang Min, with your results, even if you work hard all your life, you won’t get the rewards your uncle did."

Tang Min’s eyes were red as she fiercely glared at Tang Jun, her teeth clenched so tight it was as if she wanted to devour him.

"Staring at me is useless, what I’m saying is the truth." Tang Jun condescendingly looked down at her and said, "My grades are getting better and better now, Tang Min, if you keep playing around every day, I’m afraid you really won’t get the reward."

"I don’t care if I don’t get it, who would want it anyway!" Tang Min yelled back at Tang Jun, her head hanging low as tears dropped down.

Tang Jun curled his lip and went off to play with some small fireworks.

"Uncle and little aunt, I’m really sorry." Tang Yue looked apologetically at Tang Mingli and Wei Jiajia. Had it not been for her casual remark, this wouldn’t have happened at dinner tonight.

"Xiao Yue, it’s not your fault." Tang Mingli consoled: "This has nothing to do with you. Even without the watch incident, something else would have happened."

"Yes, Xiao Yue, you really can’t blame yourself for this." Wei Jiajia also echoed.

Late at night, Tang Yue finished drawing her design drafts. She looked at her watch, it was already half past eleven at night, all was quiet outside, touching the glass surface of her watch, she wondered what kind of return gift she should give Mo Siyu.

Tang Yue yawned as she got into bed, still thinking about what to give as a return gift, but fell asleep without coming up with anything.

The next morning, Tang Yue had dark circles under her eyes.

Zhang Hualian said with concern, "Xiao Yue, did you stay up late again last night?"

"Uh..." Tang Yue felt a bit guilty; half-past eleven wasn’t late, but she had been thinking about the return gift and hadn’t slept well.

"I’ll make you some soup later," Zhang Hualian said.

Tang Yue asked curiously, "Mom, aren’t we going to grandma’s house?"

"We are, tomorrow. Today, your aunts are coming over, and I have to cook," Zhang Hualian explained with a smile.

Lunch was very lively, Wei Jiajia being surrounded by Tang Zhenghong and Tang Zhengyue, bombarded with all sorts of questions.

Tang Yue took the chance to tidy up the house when she got bored. Even though they had moved to live in the county, their old home naturally couldn’t be neglected.

While cleaning, Tang Yue came across a half-knitted sweater that Zhang Hualian was making for Tang Jun.

Tang Yue’s eyes lit up, and she immediately thought that knitting a sweater was a great idea.

In her previous life, she would knit sweaters in her spare time after finishing other tasks. The sweaters she wore were mostly knitted by herself.

She was the type of person who, when doing something, would try to do it to the best of her ability. Therefore, the sweaters she knitted had many patterns and looked good, almost incomparable to store-bought ones.

However, she had to do this in secret and couldn’t let her mother know.

In order to finish knitting it sooner, upon seeing the many skeins of yarn and spare knitting needles that Zhang Hualian had, she took them and went into her room.

Zhang Hualian asked, "Xiao Yue, what are you doing with the yarn and knitting needles? Planning to knit a sweater?"

"Mom, I just want to learn," Tang Yue ’hehe’ chuckled, mysteriously clutching the knitting needles and yarn as she went into her room.

Once she closed the door, Tang Yue decided to start knitting, but realizing she didn’t know Mo Siyu’s size, she decided to measure Tang Mingli’s.
