Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Ignored (Third Update)
"Uncle Gen, here, nobody can drive you away, just rest assured and do your work," Tang Mingli said with resounding conviction, bowing apologetically to Uncle Gen: "Uncle Gen, you’ve been doing a great job, we all feel that no one can do it better than you, so you must not leave. Otherwise, I won’t feel at ease even if I sleep in the factory."
Tang Mingli’s gesture made Uncle Gen feel somewhat embarrassed. After all this time, it turned out to be just Wang Aihua’s opinion alone, and Tang Zhengyuan wasn’t even concerned with this matter.
"Uncle Gen, it was my fault for not clarifying things earlier." Tang Mingli cleared his throat and reassured once more: "Uncle Gen, unless you no longer wish to or are unable to work, from now on, you’ll be working in the factory indefinitely, no one can drive you away."
"Uncle Gen, what happened today was my fault," Tang Mingli said, with utmost humility.
Uncle Gen hastily replied: "It’s nothing, nothing, Mingli, I was just worried it would be difficult for you."
"Uncle Gen, as long as you are here working steadily, I won’t have any difficulty," Tang Mingli said with a grin.
"Yes, Uncle Gen, if you leave, I will also feel uneasy working here from now on."
Tang Zhengyuan quickly chimed in, at the same time giving Wang Aihua a fierce glare.
Wang Aihua hung her head low, muttering curses in her heart, but the frightening expression on Tang Zhengyuan’s face kept Wang Aihua from speaking up.
*
At noon, this was the first meal in their new home. Tang Zhengde was busy in the kitchen all morning, with Zhang Hualian lending him a hand and tidying the place up on the side.
Tang Yue wasn’t idle either, sorting clothes and deciding where things should go, continuously arranging with Tang Jun.
After Tang Zhengyuan and the others had left, Tang Xian went out for a stroll.
Tang Min, being younger, wanted to follow Tang Xian but was shunned, so Tang Min had to stay at home, watching Tang Yue and the others busy themselves, and ended up sitting in the living room, cracking sunflower seeds on a wooden chair.
Tang Yue saw the scattered sunflower seed shells on the floor and, not wanting to make a mess on the day of moving into the new house, handed a trash can over and said: "Tang Min, I just swept the floor. If you want to eat sunflower seeds, throw the shells into the trash can."
"I’ll sweep it up later." Tang Min glared at her, still feeling uncomfortable about the morning’s clothes incident, purposely throwing more shells onto the ground.
Tang Yue: ...
This young girl is really completely spoiled.
The lunch was sumptuous indeed.
Tang Mingli came back with a darkened face; Tang Zhengyuan’s expression wasn’t very pleasant either, and as for Wang Aihua, she simply followed them with her head drooping.
"Uncle, what happened?" Tang Yue looked at Tang Mingli, her intuition telling her that the troublemaking aunt must have stirred up something again.
"Better not to talk about it, so as to not upset you too," Tang Mingli sighed. On the way back, Tang Zhengyuan had given Wang Aihua a severe scolding.
He was truly at a loss for words about this sister-in-law; to say nothing of her being as good as the second sister-in-law, he would be satisfied even if she were one-tenth as good.
"Uh..." Tang Yue’s gaze roved over Wang Aihua, secretly guessing what good she might have done this time?
The lunch was extremely abundant, and Granny Tang, seeing their unhappy return, thought at first that Tang Zhengyuan had not been able to work at the factory. Upon asking, she found out that Wang Aihua had done another foolish thing.
Granny Tang trembled with anger; she had never liked this daughter-in-law, and now she disliked her even more.
Behind closed doors, Granny Tang scolded Wang Aihua once again.
Wang Aihua felt extremely aggrieved. She had just been scolded by Tang Zhengyuan and hadn’t calmed down yet, and now her mother-in-law was scolding her too. Seeing that nobody seemed intent on persuading otherwise, she, feeling too embarrassed, pulled Tang Min along, insisting that they return to her parental home.
She had thought that at least Zhang Hualian would try to say something to persuade her.
But as Wang Aihua was leaving with Tang Min, no one spoke up to stop them.
Any sensible person wouldn’t have said those words to Uncle Gen. He had no children of his own in the village, and he was doing well in the factory. Why would anyone let him go without reason?
Moreover, it was Wang Aihua who had first looked down on that job and Tang Zhengyuan also didn’t do it, so they let Uncle Gen take on that role.
How could Wang Aihua now just decide she wanted the job for herself and push someone else out? Even if the factory belonged to her, she couldn’t do such a thing—it would only make others lose heart.
"Mom, I haven’t eaten yet." Tang Min said, gnawing on a chicken leg without any courtesy. If not for Wang Aihua dragging her away, she would have been unwilling to leave.
Wang Aihua directed her pent-up anger towards Tang Min, scolding her, "Eat, eat, eat, that’s all you know!"
"Mom, if there’s food, I should eat. There’s nothing at home, and now you’re not letting me eat when we’re out," Tang Min glared back, throwing off Wang Aihua’s hand, and said angrily, "Mom, you go if you want to, I’m not leaving. I don’t want to go to Grandma’s house."
Expressing her disdain, Tang Min then took her chicken leg back into the house.
"Where’s your mother?" Tang Zhengyuan asked in surprise, seeing Tang Min come back alone.
Tang Min shrugged her shoulders and said, "She said she’s going to Grandma’s house, Dad, I want to stay with you."
"Good." Tang Zhengyuan looked at his daughter with relief, showing absolutely no intention to stop Wang Aihua from going back to her parental home.
Outside, Wang Aihua was waiting for them to come and drag her back. Yet, no one came to pull her back or to persuade her.
Wang Aihua cursed under her breath outside, hurling insults at everyone once over.
Hungry as she was, she felt too embarrassed to go back inside and could only truly head to her parental home to stay for a few days.
She didn’t believe Tang Zhengyuan wouldn’t come to fetch her.
When Wang Aihua reached her parental home and waited, Tang Zhengyuan was nowhere to be found fetching her. Upon hearing that Tang Zhengyuan had actually gone to work in the city, she burned with rage, almost as if Tang Zhengyuan had really forgotten about her!
An anxious Wang Aihua could not wait to get back to Qianjin Village, making use of the excuse of visiting home once a week to see the children.
Inside the house, besides Granny Tang, only the newly returned Tang Xian and Tang Min were there. She asked with raised eyebrows, "Where is your dad?"
"Dad’s in the factory, he said he will come back when he gets time off," Tang Min replied, hopping over in front of Wang Aihua and rummaging through the belongings she brought, asked, "Mom, did you bring me any tasty snacks?"
Tang Min had a greedy appetite. Ever since she visited Tang Yue’s house and brought back a bunch of snacks, the feeling of having snacks every day at school was simply too good!
"No." Wang Aihua replied irritably, in a rush to come back, she hadn’t remembered to buy snacks. In the past few days at her parental home, only barely stopped short of being driven out by her brother and sister-in-law, and without much money on her, where would she get the money to buy snacks?
"Oh."
Upon hearing there were no snacks, Tang Min immediately went back into her room. Her speed was astonishingly fast.
"You ungrateful wretch, when did I not buy snacks for you?" Wang Aihua, already unhappy about Tang Zhengyuan, now felt even more displeased with Tang Min’s behavior.
