Chapter 128: Chapter 128 Misunderstandings Come True
"That’s good to hear. Aunt has to go buy some more things, so I’ll leave Si Yu in your care." Mo Xiaolin pushed Tang Yue into the ward, ignoring Mo Siyu’s shocked gaze, and went straight to say, "Si Yu, you two have a good chat. When Xiao Yue isn’t around, don’t you always talk about her?"
Mo Siyu: ...
Mo Siyu’s lips moved slightly. He had been unconscious for several days and had only woken up today, so when did he have the chance to talk about Tang Yue?
"Si Yu, don’t feel shy. Mom likes Xiao Yue too. You have to work hard to keep my daughter-in-law," said Mo Xiaolin, winking and grinning at Mo Siyu before quickly leaving the ward.
"Mo... Uncle Mo, Aunt Mo is misunderstanding something," Tang Yue hurried to explain, her face blushing red like a cooked shrimp, and her bright eyes were also filled with shyness.
Even when Mo Siyu lay on the bed, those deep black eyes of his watching her always made her feel uneasy and nervous.
"My mom really does like you a lot," Mo Siyu said meaningfully, looking at the red cheeks of Tang Yue. While he was indeed surprised at first, his mood seemed to become a lot more joyful after the shock.
"Maybe, maybe she just thinks..." Even though Tang Yue thought she was eloquent, standing in front of Mo Siyu, she felt at a loss for words, unsure of what to say.
"What does she think?" Mo Siyu asked, as if oblivious to Tang Yue’s awkward predicament, deliberately pressing on.
Tang Yue, realizing belatedly, glared at him with her round apricot eyes, and said, "Uncle Mo, you’re doing this on purpose!"
"Not calling me Mr. Mo anymore?" The corner of Mo Siyu’s mouth couldn’t help but curl up, thinking that if Li Wei, Zhao Xiangqian, and Yan Dong saw him like this right now, they would probably think they’d seen a ghost.
In the motorcade, everyone knew how cold and ruthless Mo Siyu was, always wearing a stern face from morning till night, and that cold gaze of his seemed like it could freeze someone to death.
"Why are you in the hospital? Are you hurt?" As soon as Tang Yue asked the question, she immediately felt stupid.
Mo Siyu was wrapped in bandages and had a cast on his foot; anyone with eyes could tell he was injured.
That mocking look in Mo Siyu’s eyes made Tang Yue wish she could find a hole to crawl into.
"Cough." Tang Yue cleared her throat and before she could speak, Mo Siyu’s voice sounded, "Xiao Yue, I’m not a wild beast. Why are you staying so far away from me?"
His voice was weaker than usual, but there was no lack of assertiveness in his words.
"No," Tang Yue subconsciously took a few steps closer, and, faced with his faint smile, she took a deep breath. Deciding to throw caution to the wind, she sat down beside Mo Siyu’s sickbed, her hand just happening to touch his.
Like touching an electric current, Tang Yue quickly retreated her hand.
"Xiao Yue, is my hand that dirty?" Mo Siyu’s voice deliberately softened, the assertiveness also lessened, and his dark eyes on her made her mind conjures up a strange thought.
Mo Siyu was playing pitiful.
"No, it’s just... just..." Tang Yue’s heart was pounding, clueless about what to say, so she changed the subject, "Uncle Mo, how come you are in Shenzhen?"
"We were delivering goods to Shenzhen and got injured on the way, that’s why we went to Shenzhen Hospital," Mo Siyu returned to normal, but his intense gaze at her made Tang Yue feel as if she was on fire.
Mo Siyu asked in return, "Why are you in Shenzhen? And at Shenzhen Hospital? Has someone fallen ill, or has something happened?"
"It’s like this, Uncle Mo wants to start a clothing factory, and we’re here to buy sewing machines and fabric."
Returning to the main topic, Tang Yue explained why they were at Shenzhen Hospital, and at the same time, she slowly calmed her own emotions with these words.
"That really is fate. There are as many hospitals in Shenzhen as carp crossing the river, and especially Shenzhen First Hospital has many wards. To bump into each other like this, isn’t it destiny?" Mo Siyu looked at her youthful face, suddenly recalling the words of Mo Xiaolin.
"Yeah, you and my uncle really are brothers in adversity." Tang Yue, now more relaxed, even started to joke, saying, "Uncle Mo wanted to come himself after knowing you were injured, but we were worried it would affect his back injury, so I was sent as a representative."
Tang Yue’s gaze fell on his wound. Even though it was bandaged, she had some idea from what Mo Xiaolin had said earlier.
"It doesn’t hurt." Mo Siyu seemed to understand the words in her eyes.
Tang Yue pursed her lips and gave him a look, saying, "Uncle Mo, I’m not a three-year-old child. Aunt Mo already said that you were unconscious for several days, and you were in the ICU for two days. With such a serious injury, how can it not hurt?"
"I’ve gotten used to it." Mo Siyu looked down, his body bearing countless scars from the past and had seldom been injured lately.
If it wasn’t because the opponent this time was too strong, he probably wouldn’t have been injured so badly.
"Uncle Mo, I know that making money is very important, but sometimes, we can’t just chase after money and lose our lives over it." Tang Yue’s voice was soft and tender, her bright almond eyes filled with admiration as she looked at him, her clear gaze seemingly able to penetrate to the softest depths of one’s heart.
She continued, "You also have Aunt Mo. This time you were injured, and she was very worried. She even lost weight since the last time I saw her. Uncle Mo, I hope that you will take care of yourself for Aunt Mo’s sake if you should face such danger again in the future."
Although knowing that it might not be appropriate for her to say such things given her current status, looking at the wounds on his body, she couldn’t help but want to warn him.
"What about you?"
Mo Siyu’s gaze flashed a strange brilliance, staring intently at her, he asked, "What are your thoughts?"
"Me? What about me?" Tang Yue looked at him blankly, seemingly not understanding his meaning.
Mo Siyu patiently explained, "I mean, are you also worried about me?"
"Of course. You’re my uncle’s schoolmate and brother, how could I not be worried?" Tang Yue’s eyes unconsciously darted away, avoiding meeting his gaze directly.
Mo Siyu asked again, "So, if another schoolmate or brother of your uncle was injured, you would be just as worried?"
Tang Yue: ...
Heaven and earth are my witnesses, out of my uncle’s schoolmates and brothers, I only know Mo Siyu. Where would I know anyone else?
Mo Siyu gazed at her face, those clear, translucent eyes reflecting his image, and he suddenly spoke up, "My mother likes you a lot. What if we turn this fake relationship into a real one and let the misunderstanding become truth?"
