Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Angry Confrontation
"Uncle, I told you not to drink so much," Tang Yue looked at Tang Mingli, who was drunk and sprawled on the table, feeling an urge to just leave him there, especially since her own alcohol tolerance was poor.
"Xiao Yue, it’s okay, your uncle is just happy," Deng Lanhua cuddled Leilei to sleep.
Qi Song said, "Why not let your uncle sleep over? It would save the trouble of the long trip back home."
"I’ll take him," Mo Siyu pulled Tang Mingli up with one hand, and most of Tang Mingli’s weight fell on Mo Siyu’s shoulder. Tang Mingli was about the same size as Mo Siyu, but it still seemed effortless for Mo Siyu.
Mo Siyu was in a crisp shirt and trousers, looking dashing. His bronze skin and deep black eyes seemed to penetrate everything.
Tang Yue quickly averted her eyes, feeling a sense of urgency every time she was in front of Mo Siyu.
On her deathbed in her previous life, she truly wanted to return to the past and accompany Mo Siyu to make him less lonely.
But now that she had really been reborn, Tang Yue became timid.
Mo Siyu was a future tycoon, handsome and limitless in prospects. She didn’t know why he ended up alone in the past life, even with all his wealth, he never married. Even so, Mo Siyu, Mr. Mo, was someone she couldn’t match up to.
She was just an ordinary woman who wanted to improve her family’s life, hoping for better days in the future. As for the kindness of Mo Siyu, she wanted to do her best to change Mrs. Mo’s fate, to make Mrs. Mo and her uncle avoid their tragic past and lead a happy and fortunate life.
"Brother Mo, let me go with you," Qi Song stood up, willing to accompany them. Mo Siyu declined, "You’ve also been drinking, and your wife and child are here. Better not go out. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to see Mingli and... Xiao Yue home."
"Brother Mo, thanks for the trouble," Qi Song felt guilty and repeatedly told them to walk slowly. He escorted them to the alley and then turned back home.
The moonlight was as bright as daylight, Tang Yue stood on the other side of Tang Mingli, ready to support him.
From here to where Tang Mingli lived was a distance. Tang Yue worried whether Mo Siyu would be tired from supporting him.
After all, Tang Mingli was a grown man, and he appeared very sturdy.
"Unc... Uncle," Tang Yue paused and quickly corrected herself, for fear that she would accidentally blurt out ’Mr. Mo,’ and said, "Let me help support my uncle."
Mo Siyu: "Men and women shouldn’t touch hands when giving or receiving."
Tang Yue exaggeratedly looked at Mo Siyu and couldn’t help but retort, "But he is my uncle."
"That’s still a man," Mo Siyu decided to carry instead of support. Drunk Tang Mingli, was very well-behaved, simply closing his eyes to sleep, no matter how much someone disturbed him, he wouldn’t wake up.
The bright moonlight drew Mo Siyu’s silhouette long and thin. At this moment, Mo Siyu seemed less distant and cold than in the previous life. Before, whenever she saw Mo Siyu, he was always stern, the only time his face ever changed was that one time he was drunk.
After being reborn, Mo Siyu seemed to come alive all of a sudden.
"Xiao Yue," the voice of Mo Siyu suddenly rang out.
"Ah..."
Tang Yue was immersed in the comparison of Mo Siyu before and after reincarnation and was completely caught off guard when he suddenly called her.
"You’re calling me?" Tang Yue looked at Mo Siyu in confusion. Her almond eyes, which were usually lively and bright, now looked bewilderingly clueless, adding a touch of adorable silliness, and her diamond-shaped lips habitually pursed.
Xiao Yue, it was the name everyone called her by, but she had no idea that when it came from his mouth, with his uniquely magnetic voice, it would sound so appealing.
"Xiao Yue, from now on, you’re not allowed to look at others like that."
Mo Siyu’s eyes darkened, he had been leisurely matching Tang Mingli’s pace, but now he couldn’t help but quicken his steps, much like the beating of his heart.
It took a while for Tang Yue to realize, so puffing up her cheeks, she caught up and asked, "Hey, how did I look at someone?"
"Xiao Yue, you are seventeen now, girls should respect themselves, you can’t get too close to boys," Mo Siyu said each word with pause.
Tang Yue was stunned. It sounded like something a father or an elder would say chastising their daughter, so why did it sound so odd coming from him?
After pondering for a long time, Tang Yue concluded that it might be related to something that happened to a girl in Mo Siyu’s family. She asked cautiously, "Why does this sound like something my dad would say? Did... did something upset you?"
Could it be that a girl in the family was hurt in love or deceived by someone?
Mo Siyu did not expect that the words he had thought about for so long would be misunderstood by her. He said, "My cousin is even a year younger than you. You’re overthinking it."
"Then why did you suddenly say that?" Tang Yue looked at him, puzzled.
"Shouldn’t girls have self-respect and self-love? You’ve just started high school, and you won’t even be nineteen by the time you graduate. Are you planning to find a partner in high school?" In front of Tang Yue, Mo Siyu always found himself talking more than usual.
"I haven’t thought about marriage at all." Tang Yue said quickly. She turned her head away and looked forward, not daring to look at Mo Siyu, biting her lip before retorting, "You should be the one looking for a partner, you’re the same age as my uncle. If you don’t find someone soon, do you plan on being a bachelor your whole life?"
Perhaps because it was night, Tang Yue said things she normally wouldn’t dare to, her mind unable to understand why such an excellent person like him had never married. Was it because he had someone in his heart?
While pretending to point the way, Tang Yue sneaked peeks at Mo Siyu’s expression.
"Better to be alone than to be with someone who I don’t love," Mo Siyu stopped in front of Tang Mingli’s door. His tall figure standing behind her, casting a shadow over all her brilliance.
Tang Yue opened the door, sidestepping, she quickly said, "So you have someone you like in your heart, but that person doesn’t like you?"
Mo Siyu gave Tang Yue a glance and couldn’t be bothered to respond.
"So that’s how it is." Tang Yue misunderstood and murmured to herself. She thought so: such an excellent person couldn’t possibly stay unmarried forever. She envied that woman. How could she not appreciate someone as outstanding as Mo Siyu?
"What do you mean ’that’s how it is’?" Tang Mingli, perhaps half sober from the alcohol, lay unsteadily on Mo Siyu’s back.
Mo Siyu strode forward with Tang Mingli on his back and placed him on the bed.
Tang Mingli turned over and mumbled, "Si Yu, you’re not allowed to like Xiao Yue."
Mo Siyu’s gaze darkened, looking towards Tang Yue who was pouring hot water in the kitchen. Under the dim light, her bustling figure truly resembled that of a diligent wife.
