Rebirth in 1980: The Farm Wife Makes a Comeback -
Chapter 441: Rushing Back
Chapter 441: Chapter 441: Rushing Back
"Just bear with it for now," Song Wang helplessly kept repeating, not knowing how many times he had said it, but this woman still seemed to like to throw tantrums.
"I won’t go," Qin Xiangmei was stubborn, why should she be the one to go greet them? Why not Qin Xiangnuan, that woman come over and greet her? After all, she was the one marrying Song Wang, into the Song Family, where she’d have both money and fame in the future. What did Qin Xiangnuan have? She was just someone who works for others, making clothes. And now she doesn’t even come over to butter her up. Maybe if she was in a good mood, she could even help her find a good job.
Song Wang slammed his chopsticks down on the table, his tone worsening, "Xiang Mei, how many times have I told you? My family opposes our relationship, they haven’t agreed yet. My grandfather knows Qin Xiangnuan, and if she’s willing to put in some good words for you with my grandfather, and he agrees, then everything will be much easier. Why don’t you understand? After all my efforts, can’t you just greet her and lower your head? Aren’t you willing to do even that?"
Normally, Song Wang was quite temperate and very accommodating to Qin Xiangmei. They say love is blind, and not that Qin Xiangmei is a pig, but after putting up with her for so long, his constant concessions have perhaps made her take things for granted.
Qin Xiangmei was also taken aback by Song Wang’s sudden outburst, feeling a surge of discomfort. Then she thought about it – his anger was because of Qin Xiangnuan. She didn’t know how many times she had cursed Qin Xiangnuan, wishing she could bite her teeth so hard it hurt.
Qin Xiangnuan touched her ears, feeling the heat. She knew Qin Xiangmei was definitely cursing her again.
Someone was coming. Jian Zhiqing warned Qin Xiangnuan that her sister and future brother-in-law were approaching. His tone carried a hint of sarcasm: Song Wang really did have questionable taste. At the moment, Qin Xiangmei was clad in a decent outfit, her face slathered in makeup, her lips a bloody red. He mused over how Song Wang could tolerate such taste.
After all, his own little girl was always nice and clean, wearing clothes she made herself which highlighted her temperament and figure. She didn’t like to smear her face with makeup, preferring skincare. She didn’t like makeup, so her body always carried a faint scent, not the smell of powder.
Qin Xiangmei wasn’t even close yet, but Jian Zhiqing already felt his nose twitch uncomfortably. How much powder had she applied?
As the smell of powder intensified, the two had reached the table.
"It’s quite a coincidence to see you here," said Song Wang with a forced smile, only to hit a wall that wasn’t too soft or too hard, his face becoming somewhat awkward.
Qin Xiangmei pursed her lips, adjusting the dress on her body worth hundreds of yuan. Could Qin Xiangnuan even afford that?
Qin Xiangnuan, seeing the deliberate flaunting from Qin Xiangmei, found it amusing. It wasn’t money she had earned herself, but still, being able to wear it was a skill in itself. She looked up briefly at Qin Xiangmei with a thick layer of makeup – without a system in this life, did she want to harm her skin with makeup so early in life and age faster?
It’s not right to slap a smiling face; Jian Zhiqing gave Song Wang a nod. "You’re here too, have a seat," he gestured to the seats next to him, but it was just a courtesy, not expecting that Song Wang and Qin Xiangmei would actually join them.
Qin Xiangnuan didn’t speak; outside, the words of a man should be accepted by a woman, she had to give that much respect. Whatever happens at home is another matter.
"I don’t want to," Qin Xiangmei turned her face away disdainfully even before Song Wang could speak, "I definitely wouldn’t want to eat your leftovers. Disgusting."
Song Wang’s face changed colors, wishing she could be more civilized. This was a meal, and her use of the word "disgusting" was enough to rob anyone of their appetite.
Xiang Nuan picked a piece of vegetable for her bowl and continued eating without a hitch.
"Miss Qin, please feel free to do as you like. I still have to eat and am not in the mood to entertain."
Jian Zhiqing gave a slight nod of his head, but the intent to send her away was intense. After such words, it seems impossible for the four of them to sit together at the same table anymore.
Song Wang returned to his own table; by now, the pot had been brought over. Qin Xiangmei eagerly added ingredients to it, completely unaware that she had just slapped Song Wang’s face, embarrassed him, and had been the one who was actually sent back.
It wasn’t Xiang Nuan’s fault, but rather Qin Xiangmei had slapped her own face. Ironically, she still didn’t realize it and thought she had won a round.
Song Wang’s face darkened as his gaze fell upon Qin Xiangmei’s handbag.
Forget about the bag.
Meanwhile, Jian Zhiqing had taken Xiang Nuan’s coat and helped her put it on. The two then left without saying goodbye to Song Wang. They weren’t friends, nor were they close sisters, but more like enemies.
Upon seeing the clothes Xiang Nuan was wearing, Qin Xiangmei’s eyes emanated a cold light. Those clothes were a waste on Xiang Nuan’s body, which had no figure to speak of—she wore them so tight around the waist. It should have been her wearing them instead.
This meal had left her stomach full of anger, compounded by the silence of Song Wang, making it even harder for her to swallow her food. When they came out, Song Wang was originally supposed to take her to buy a new bag, but that was no longer happening. Qin Xiangmei couldn’t expect to carry a new one either.
And she blamed all of this on Xiang Nuan.
But she was not stupid; she didn’t insist that Song Wang buy her anything. Usually, she was clever and knew how to use her strengths to make herself more likable. It’s just that whenever she encountered Xiang Nuan, she would lose her usual composure and become foolish.
Indeed, it seemed that Xiang Nuan was her nemesis. No wonder fortune tellers would say that she was destined for great wealth and fortune in life, but it was spoiled by others. Only by staying away could her wealth last. Why did she always run into Xiang Nuan wherever she went, like an inescapable specter?
Although Song Wang felt disappointed in Qin Xiangmei, she was still the one he liked. Apart from these issues, she had other admirable qualities. Qin Xiangmei softened her stance, reminiscing about their childhood when Xiang Nuan would always bully her. Otherwise, why would both siblings have moved out later on and even broken off relations with their father?
Their relationship had deteriorated to this point, making it difficult to rekindle any sisterly affection. It was indeed an uncomfortable situation for all involved.
Song Wang pondered and decided not to blame Qin Xiangmei anymore.
As for Mr. Sun, Song Wang still planned to use the path of Xiang Nuan, although now it seemed impossible to ask Xiang Nuan for this favor. Given the clear state of affairs between the two sisters, even if he approached her, Xiang Nuan would likely refuse.
