Chapter 84: Chapter 84: A Sudden Turn of Events
At noon, when Tang Li and Wu Xuehan just returned to school, she received a call from the counselor.
The counselor mentioned the housing issue on the phone.
Entering the administrative building and going up to the third floor, Tang Li asked Wu Xuehan to wait outside while she knocked on the door and entered the performing arts department counselor’s office.
The counselor Gao Shengyan was already waiting for her.
Gao Shengyan, a woman in her late thirties with long hair tied up in a bun and a slightly plump figure, had a gentle appearance. Upon seeing Tang Li enter, she immediately waved her over, asking Tang Li to sit in the chair next to the desk: "Everyone else has gone for lunch, just sit down, no need to be formal."
Unlike the hurried encounter in the classroom, Tang Li now had the chance to take a good look at her.
In her previous life, when she took a leave of absence, it was only Gao Shengyan who repeatedly sought her out for counseling, hoping she would continue her studies.
During the first two years of college, her foundational course grades were excellent.
By the time she was in her third year, her grades in professional courses at the end of the semester had plummeted, barely scraping past the passing mark.
Gao Shengyan had asked her about the reasons for this.
Upon learning that she could not afford the sponsorship fee, Gao Shengyan had a friend at the bank help her secure a student loan.
However, she had already missed a semester’s worth of courses by then and seeing many students starting internships in their fourth year, after weighing her options, ultimately rejected Gao Shengyan’s kindness.
It was for this reason that Tang Li dared to ask Gao Shengyan about whether to report something to the police in the classroom.
Because she somewhat understood Gao Shengyan’s character, knowing she would not overly favor Mother Yu.
Gao Shengyan poured a glass of water for Tang Li, then got straight to the point: "I found out about your move to Qishan dormitory afterward, it was a decision made by the faculty leadership, and sometimes my voice carries little weight."
"I understand," Tang Li nodded.
Seeing her clear gaze and genuine lack of resentment, Gao Shengyan inwardly felt pleased: "It’s good that you’re not holding a grudge."
As she spoke, she opened a drawer, took out a set of keys, and pushed them towards Tang Li: "When you were first admitted to the school, based on comprehensive scores, you were among the top three. In your freshman year, your foundational course grades were also among the best, so the school has decided to let you move to Wentan Garden dormitory, where you will live for the next three years."
Tang Li expressed her doubt: "Does this mean that all academically excellent students will live in Wentan Garden from now on?"
"You should know, Wentan Garden is a faculty dormitory. The keys were given to the dean by the principal this morning, who then handed them to me. The principal’s intention is that our school needs to focus on nurturing outstanding students like you, therefore exceptionally allowing you to live in Wentan Garden to provide you with a conducive learning environment."
"..." This sounded rather bureaucratic.
It was the first time Tang Li discovered she was excellent to this extent.
"The dormitory is a double room. If you are afraid of living alone, you can have a classmate stay with you." Seeing Tang Li’s silence and thinking she was nervous, Gao Shengyan spoke to reassure her: "You don’t need to worry about the school’s arrangement. All you need to do is study hard and live up to the school’s cultivation."
"Oh, and one more thing—" Gao Shengyan seemed to remember something else and added: "Regarding the incident this morning, the school will handle it for you. The dean has already stated that we will not tolerate such malicious behavior that provokes discord among students. Also, your scholarship from last semester will be disbursed into your bank account by this Friday at the latest."
"If I remember correctly, my scholarship eligibility has already been cancelled."
Tang Li calmly met Gao Shengyan’s gaze: "It was Professor Yu Guowen who personally informed me of this."
