Chapter 190: Chapter 190: Song Baiyan Suddenly Turns His Gaze Toward Her

"I need to use the restroom," Tang Li stood up.

When she came out from the restroom, the Fu Family’s housekeeper called them downstairs.

Tang Li didn’t expect to encounter the Bao Family’s young lady at dinner, let alone Song Baiyan’s presence. The outcome was vastly different from her initial expectations.

Following Fu Si and Song Jingtian downstairs, just as they arrived at the dining room entrance, Tang Li saw the Bao Family’s young lady helping to set the chopsticks at the table.

Bo He had taken off her trench coat, wearing only a beige knit top and a black skirt, her elegant and composed silhouette reminded her of the line from the Classic of Poetry, "Fair, noble lady, a fit match for the gentleman."

Song Ru brought over a clay pot dish and upon seeing the young ones arriving late, she called them in: "We were just waiting for you."

As she spoke, Song Ru turned toward Tang Li with a warm smile: "There are no outsiders here, no need to be formal."

At this moment, Elder Fu, Fu Mingshan, Fu Jinliang, and Song Baiyan were already seated, conversing intermittently about topics not for the younger generation’s ears, which added a slightly solemn atmosphere to the dining room.

Stepping into the dining room, Fu Si greeted his grandpa, dad, and uncle, then pulled a chair close by and gestured for Tang Li to sit.

Then, he seated himself to the left of Tang Li.

Seeing this, Song Jingtian immediately took the empty chair on the other side of Tang Li.

It was as if they were glued together in a trio.

Having taken her seat, Tang Li maintained her grace, not looking around.

Soon after, her elbow was nudged by Fu Si.

Tang Li looked at him, puzzled.

Fu Si goofed around with his facial expressions towards her, then turned back to Fu Mingshan and said, "Grandpa, this is Tang Li who tutors me; you were curious about what she looks like, so I brought her over."

Fu Mingshan, with greying temples and an advanced age, was dignified yet amiable. He was in the middle of a conversation with Song Baiyan when he heard his grandson’s introduction, turned his head, put on his reading glasses, and looked at the young girl beside his grandson with a kind gaze: "Are you the classmate who’s tutoring Xiao Si?"

Tang Li smiled and then politely called out, "Grandpa Fu."

"Good, a nice child." Fu Mingshan was beaming, especially fond of kids who are good at their studies, even more so when the child was a pretty young lady: "Xiao Si has been slacking in his studies, I’m counting on you to keep a close eye on him from now on."

"..." That statement was somewhat ambiguous.

For some reason, Tang Li felt that the old gentleman might have misunderstood something.

Fu Si, already looking smug, said, "So, Grandpa, you won’t take my motorbike away, right?"

"If you manage to pass the rest of the make-up exams too, not just a motorbike, I’ll buy you a sports car if you want one," Grandpa Fu promised.

Elder Fu’s promise made Fu Si’s eyes light up with joy: "Grandpa, I’ll definitely study hard."

Song Ru came out of the kitchen, just in time to hear her son’s statement and set a condition: "If you want to buy a car, bring your graduation certificate home first."

"Sure thing," Fu Si grinned, glancing at Tang Li: "As long as Tang Li helps me with the tutoring, I’ll sort out all the make-up exams by next spring and definitely get my graduation certificate."

Saying this, he then turned to Song Baiyan across from him: "Uncle, you have to vouch for me. If I pass all the make-up exams, Grandpa will buy me a Porsche."

Song Baiyan slightly smiled, stubbing out his cigarette in the ashtray: "I can be your witness, as long as you study hard at school from now on."

These past two years, Fu Si had caused quite a bit of trouble at the Art College.

Afraid of getting in trouble at home, he usually sought help from this particular uncle when things went awry.

When Tang Li heard Song Baiyan’s voice, she couldn’t help looking up; Song Baiyan at this moment was entirely a gentle elder. His attitude towards Fu Si was not much different from the usual way he treated her, perhaps... in his eyes, she truly was just a junior.

As if sensing something, Song Baiyan suddenly turned his gaze towards her.

Almost simultaneously, Tang Li looked down, her eyelashes fluttering.
