Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time -
Chapter 282: Future Plans
Chapter 282: Chapter 282: Future Plans
Wan Chu’er clicked her tongue, tossed the snacks at him, and said, "You seem to be having a great time, not the slightest bit worn out. Who’s been grandly talking about big plans every day? Who kept dragging me on, saying that knowing me is the fortune of eight lifetimes? Who..."
Suddenly, her eyes narrowed, glaring at Xiao Bai.
Wan Chu’er remembered the matter about the house and instantly her eyes bulged, eyebrows furrowing and pointing at Xiao Bai, she yelled, "Bai Qiyan, you actually dared to deceive me!"
Her roar, like that of a lioness, caused both Old Sir Zhong and Li Shan in the house to emerge. Xiao Bai shivered, instantly sensing something was off, and flung himself toward Grandpa Zhong who had just stepped out of the room.
"Grandpa Zhong, save me! Li Shan, save me!"
Wan Chu’er grabbed a throw pillow from the sofa and chased after him, teeth bared and claws outstretched.
"Bai Qiyan, get over here!"
"Why would I do that, just to let you beat me up?" Xiao Bai hid behind the old man, peeking out and shouting.
Old Sir Zhong: "..."
Li Shan: "..."
What’s with this cat-and-mouse battle today? How come these two are so childish, playing this game of tag every couple of days? Li Shan really didn’t understand.
In his heart, Old Sir Zhong thought: If I were younger, I’d grab them one in each hand and throw them outside.
So, Old Sir Zhong and Li Shan both returned to their rooms with expressionless faces.
Xiao Bai grabbed at the old man’s clothes, yelling, "Old Sir, you can’t go! I did everything according to your orders; you have to back me up!"
Once Xiao Bai reminded her, Wan Chu’er recalled that they were all involved in this. She snorted immediately.
Old Sir Zhong thought for a moment. The only thing he instructed Xiao Bai to do was about the house. His face turned stern, and he commanded forcefully, "Stop this nonsense! This was my idea; if you have a complaint, come to me."
Then, he didn’t return to his room but instead sat down boldly on the sofa, exuding an aura of authority.
Xiao Bai quickly said to Wan Chu’er, "See, this had nothing to do with me. You’re getting a house for nothing; what’s there to fuss about? Foolish, aren’t you?"
Li Shan looked at Xiao Bai as if he were an idiot, and Xiao Bai threw him a seductive glance; Li Shan turned away in disgust.
Wan Chu’er felt an overwhelming sense of frustration. Angrily, she said, "What I care about is how you all teamed up to deceive me, treating me like a fool in the dark."
Old Sir Zhong waved his hand dismissively, "You’re just so stubborn. Alright, we won’t deceive you anymore."
Hah, as if it’s her fault? And such an offhand attitude!
Wan Chu’er threw the pillow she held onto the sofa and stomped upstairs.
The three people downstairs looked at each other, uncertain of what Wan Chu’er was planning.
After a while, Wan Chu’er came down with a suitcase in tow. Xiao Bai quickly went up to pull at her luggage, "What are you trying to do here? You’re not seriously thinking about running away from home, are you?"
Wan Chu’er glared at him and coldly said, "If I don’t leave, what’s the point in staying? Who knows when you all might team up and sell me off."
Old Sir Zhong yelled, "You little rascal, stop spouting nonsense!"
Wan Chu’er huffed, determined to wrestle her luggage from Xiao Bai’s grasp. She’d made up her mind to live at school for a while; this time she had to teach these people a lesson and show them she has her limits.
Xiao Bai, after getting kicked twice by Wan Chu’er, cried out loudly for Li Shan: "Li Dage, hurry over and lend a hand!"
Seeing Xiao Bai almost flat on the floor, Li Shan’s mouth twitched. He thought, should he just go and lie on the floor too? No way, he wasn’t going to do that.
Next second, Old Sir Zhong sternly said: "You, who haven’t even grown all your hairs, thinking about running away from home. If you can beat Li Shan, then we’ll talk."
Wan Chu’er rolled her eyes: "...My hairs will never fully grow out in this lifetime!"
Xiao Bai couldn’t help but laugh out loud, and then he received another kick.
Li Shan listened to the old man’s words, so he stepped forward, directly adopting a fighting stance.
Wan Chu’er was boiling with rage, just needing a good fight. Without thinking, she loosened her grip and swung at Li Shan, while Xiao Bai pulled the bag away.
Soon, the living room erupted in a fight between the two, with only the sound of fists and kicking heard throughout.
Xiao Bai moved close to Grandpa Zhong and whispered, "Grandpa Zhong, would you like some tea, or maybe some snacks? There are sunflower seeds here, we can eat them and watch the show."
Old Sir Zhong glanced at Xiao Bai busy with the snacks and shook his head repeatedly. Zhenzhu’s grandson was indeed slick, but his granddaughter was better – confronting issues with fists and kicks.
Wan Chu’er was no match for Li Shan, but Li Shan was very measured and did not hurt her. With a determined breath, she tenaciously tangled with Li Shan, continuously striking at him.
Old Sir Zhong watched and occasionally made a few comments. Xiao Bai, whether he understood or not, nodded and shook his head in agreement.
They fought for over an hour before stopping. Wan Chu’er lay on the ground panting, unable to move a finger, while Li Shan was still at ease. After giving her a glance, he returned to the old man’s side.
After such a fight, Wan Chu’er let out a good amount of her anger. She lay on the floor for a while, then got up, ignored Xiao Bai and the others, and shakily climbed the stairs to take a shower and rest.
Afterwards, Wan Chu’er didn’t bring up the matter again but wrote an IOU to Yan Hui. She owed 4.5 million – she couldn’t just take the house for free.
By the end of the year, with the game revenue dividends from Dingsheng Technology, Wan Chu’er, despite Xiao Bai’s protests, took all the dividend money and paid Yan Hui, settling the debt completely.
Only then did she start to chat and laugh with Yan Hui again. Thinking back on the cold attitude of Wan Chu’er during the past few months, Yan Hui could only accept the money with a sense of helpless resignation.
From then on, everyone knew that if Wan Chu’er got serious, it would be very tough indeed.
The next morning, Grandpa Zhong called Wan Chu’er aside, and the two went up to the third-floor balcony.
Since it was late autumn, early winter, the sunlight wasn’t blinding at all. Instead, it felt warm on the skin.
Old Sir Zhong slowly asked, "What are your plans for the future?"
Wan Chu’er was taken aback. Plans for the future? She hadn’t thought about it in detail. With her major, finding an IT job would be a breeze, but the thought of becoming a permanent, overtime-slaving coder didn’t appeal to her.
Seeing the confused look on Wan Chu’er’s face, Old Sir Zhong huffed and said, "Back in my day, as soon as I was sensible, I knew what I wanted to do. I started working at sixteen, beginning from the bottom and working my way up."
Wan Chu’er gave a wry smile and said, "The world was so simple back then, revolving around nothing but the revolution."
Grandpa Zhong gave her a look and frowned, "You better not say that kind of thing outside, it’s really shameful."
Wan Chu’er felt a flush of embarrassment. Clearly, Old Sir Zhong was calling her superficial, and this was the first time someone had said it to her face.
